Spotted this outside Fels Point Hotel in Tralee this morning. I haven't seen one of these in over 20 years. Looks in very good condition.

The H-van. My favourite van ever!

There used to be one on the east pier in Dun Laoghaire selling crepes for a few years, but I haven't seen it in the last few years

The reg on that beetle dates to july 1978,does that sound right?it would be one of the very last if its its original number.

You wouldn't know. i'll get better pics when i get my camera. It's actually a disgrace how the car has been treated

I know the car. It's pretty bad. I think it was imported into Ireland in the 70's but it's a 60's Beetle. I remember looking at it about 2 years ago and it was bad then so I can only imagine what it's like now!

What a shame to see a car just left there to rot

I remember that. If you ever get a chance to watch a film called Switchblade Romance, it'll change the way you see H-vans forever.

Reckon it was imported then, it's definitely a pre '67

Last Thursday (14th) I passed three of these on Westland Row, Dublin 2. I was driving so I couldn't take a photo but I thought ye might be interested to know about them as I dare say there aren't many 'blowers' in the world today, never mind Dublin City.

    It bloody well was!
I was on the phone [hands-free] at the time and to be honest I couldn't believe my eyes.
Much as I love all things mechanical I am no expert but these are a very special marque and to see one of them anywhere i.e. museum etc. would be wonderful, but to pass three of them driving down inner city Dublin and all three sounding fantastic was special.
All three were 'Blowers' as the superchargers were clearly visible but what the hell were they doing in Dublin.

Pulled up behind this at the lights on my way to work one morning a few weeks back. I was stopped when I took the photo btw, suppose I could still have been done for it though !

It was a Daimler 2 door Coupe 4.2. Nice condition too !

2CV's - best cars on the planet. Had about 5 of them to 'complement' my 3.0 Capri's . Times were hard ( collecting the dole on Tue's ), drive the 2CV, good times (Fri night bird pulling ), drive the 3.0. !!!!

I reckon the Citroen C15 / Berlingo diesels are the 'spiritual successors' of the 2CV - 60mpg, cheap, plenty of room inside .
