What's the big deal bout fast speeds in a college? I'd rather see peoples speeds from their home. This country is crap for broadband and not all of us have access to posh college computers. So it would be more a help if 'normal' users were posting and not all these rocket fast twilight zone stuff. I dunno if I'd even want a 70 meg speed. I'm delighted with 1 meg off this mobile broadband. Probably put it to more use than what people use with that twilight zone stuff.

Its a broadband speed test thread, nothing ever said about it being a home broadband only thread.

ok, here is my speed test. I learn more when people post realistic speeds. Gives me an idea of what's the best company or area for a signal and so on.

not tech minded at all. only know our internet has been incrediblely slow this last couple of days.

IBB 2mb - but don't know if this is result is what it's supposed to be, pages are loading very slowly and not just on this comp but also on son's macbook. Since about Thurs, it's been like this - I'm in Dublin 10, usually don't have much of a problem.

    NOTHING wrong with that connection.
In fact you are actually getting a faster connection than you are paying for - circa 2.2Mbps down and 1.7Mbps up.
Ping is quite low to speedtest aswell.

I would do a different speedtest tho just to double check as speedtest can unreliable.

    Try http://speedtest.magnet.ie

And use the cmdline to test your pings. more accurate that way.

Thanks for imput, I tried the Magnet speed test and here's what I got at 21:48 this evening.

    Download speed 724 kbps - 90.5 kb/sec transfer rate
    Upload speed 712 kbps - 89 kb/sec transfer rate.
