Playing in the round bales with a friend, yes, I am a farmer, I stumbled upon a stupid wasps nest. 53 stings including ones just under each eye. I was 8. I haven't been stung once since. I'm told I was only a few away from going into anaphalactic shock (I doubt this). That doesn't sound fun so said I wouldn't chance repeating that fun experience.

Owww!!! Hay bales will be the death of all us, a friend of mine was pinned to a fence by one. He was on top of it and it moved and he fell in front of it and got pinned, broke a couple of ribs he did!! he was about 7 at the time!

When I was about 15, my friend was teaching me how to swim. We went down to out local beach and she carried me out pretty far into the water and let me go. A big wave came and I was dragged under all I can remember is hearing strange noises. Lucky for me I was washed up on the shore and woke up vomiting up all the water I had swallowed.

Earlier this year while cycling to college down Newtown Park Hill (for anyone who knows it, its a coont to climb). Anyways, I was speeding down, no traffic on my side but traffic jam on the other side (to my right). There were roadworks going on at the time and there was a thick plank of wood on the road, I thought to myself that I could get over it no problem. Boy was I wrong!!! Me and my bike went flying through the air. I landed on my shoulder. Lucky I was wearing a helmet, leather jacket and jeans. No one stopped to help. But with that said, I got up straight away and cycles on.

Tis funny looking back on it. Actually, I've falled twice going down that hill. Ah... good times.

Another fine thread by Pighead. I see Beruthiel didn't reply to your post - she still playing hard to get?

Closest I came was flipping a van over at speed going round a bend, hit black ice and lost control. Rolled over a couple of times. No major injuries but really thought that was it, I was going to die.
Oh, and being stalked by a puma in Argentina at night earlier this year was pretty scary too. Lucky we spotted it in time, and the guy we were with had a gun to scare it off...

I got trapped in the toilets in Trabolgan when I was about five. I was only in there for 5 minutes but it felt like an eternity.

Maybe not as near death as some of you but you weren't there, I was petrified!!

I nearly got knocked down by a double-decker before.

I was going to cross the road. I looked left and there was a bus coming but it was well down the road. I looked right and there was a van just passing by so I stepped into the road. Next thing, the bus was right on top of me. Luckily, the driver slammed on the breaks and I ran across the road.

No flashes of my life. No white lights. No other NDE experiences.

Farc are in Iceland and even at that they are only in remote areas. In fact they only hide in deep crevices. They're a great bunch of lads all the same.

Was climbing the tree in my Nan's front garden when I was ten or so.
Grabbed a branch and went to swing to the next one only to discover the branch I was holding was rotten through and crumbled in my hand.
Fell about eight feet and smashed the back of my head against the corner of a pillar.
Cracked my skull and burst open an artery.
And all I could care about was that I had ruined my favorite white t-shirt.... :p

Closest I've been to death so far was as part of a school trip to an adventure centre. As part of our activities, we were told to make a raft out of a few empty plastic barrels, some rope and some wood. Our mission would then be to row out to a point and row back again. Me being one of the rowing gang, all went smoothly for about 3 metres into the deep water and then whe raft just flipped on top of me. My three comrades got back on whilst I was trapped under the raft swallowing half the lake because my life jacket was stopping me from going further under the water in order to escape. Luckily enough one of the lads finally copped that I was missing and grabbed me from under the raft. I was in shock for ****ing ages after it. Definitely thought I'd copped it.

Was driving along M50 at about 70mph in torrential rain, when a large handrailing dropped from the bridge above meand landed about a metre directly in front of my car. Swerved and avoided it, luckily.

Did it fall or did someone lob it over the side!

Still have no idea - could be road works, badly fitted, knackers messing... Rang M50 maintenance crew and the managed answered and was very apologetic, naturally enough. Considering if I'd been going a little quicker it would've landed in the windscreen.
