Hi all, I've spent the whole day reading this thread start to finish! I feel I know you all already, thanks. This is my first post and I wish Id found this site before because I realise how helpful it would have been to me.

I did my initial test the end of April there and Im waiting results, I guess theres a few of us in the same boat! (does that make us C14?)

Anyway I'm just saying hello and well done to guys like psni who have helped everyone here and best of luck to everyone, dont know how I've got on but best of luck to all.

The pirate I just wanted to reply to your comment about wether its safe to be in the PSNI.

If you feel that this would be the right career for you and you'd be good at it try to not let any events put you off!!

Northern Ireland has changed alot recently and although your personal security should be forefront in your mind, I think (correct me if I'm wrong PSNI) its not what it once was!

Ive been a police officer in London for 2 years although we don't have the same things to worry about i.e our cars etc, on the job risks would be similar. We do alot of Public order stuff (eg. I'm covering the FA cup final tomorrow) so the idea of policing potentially 90,000 people in a small area is daunting! (look at Manchester!!)

Basically to cut a long story short to classify UK forces as being safer isn't entirely accurate, we all face different types of problems. You'll learn in training that there are only unknown and high risks! Low risk doesnt exist!!

So if you'd like a job with massive variety, brilliant craic with team mates, and real character building then go for the police, the training and the support you'll get to deal with scary stuff will help you through those times!!

Thats what the bad guys want is for people to be scared to be a police officer, someone told me that if your in the police, you're in the biggest gang, so we'll always win!!

Sermon over, kinda feel that should be on a recruitment poster. :)

Just went for my IST test and my name was not on the list. As I applied twice online two letters came to my door. So I took The later one with me to the Test and my details were not there. Now upon checking both letters at home i have noticed the different UID numbers at the top of the page. Now what do i do now? I have tried ringing but the line was busy or not open because of the weekend!

    Why did you apply twice?

You may have to re-apply next time. Its frustrating but they may say that as you couldn't complete the application process properly, they may say you are an unsuitable applicant.

Reapplied because my Internet played up and sent final details when i thought it didn't. Despite this you would think that if they sent out a letter to you that the UID would be present on there list, if not two UID numbers for myself!

I will have to ring ant try to reschedule the whole thing.

Trust me, if I can pass so can the rest of you. Really feel gutted for those who didn't get it. I failed last year by 4 marks and it was sooooo annoying, but dont give up, look at me I sat it again and passed! Keep on trying, live your dream.
