Finally got the phone today but its not letting me connect to edge on meteor. I have subscribed to edge and have entered the settings but its saying I am not subscribed to edge. Any ideas there? Rang meteor and they said its activated!

mate what are the edge setting for meteor by the way

i rang meteor and the operater didnt even know about edge??

I changed from isp.mymeteor.ie to data.mymeteor.ie

Quite a bit!! If you're on bill get the 10eur data add on. It gives you 250mb a month. On prepay I'm not so sure. You'll have to check if they do an add on. But without an add on you're going to go through credit like you would never believe.

don't think theres an add on for data on pay as go on meteor

mg data charges in this country is a disgrace at least there should be add ons for data on pay as you go

Hi i used the iliberty+ unlock for my 1.1.4 iphone. Everything seems to work ok on it except that the reception can go from 5bars to no service without even moving the phone. If i'm going to make a call it can go from 5 bars to 1 bar almost instantly. Is there an easy fix to this or is it a software issue? I've reset network and all settings but to no avail. Please help.

unless it is affecting your calls ignore it iPhones have a tendency to do that have seen it on all versions of firmware using all kinds of unlocks and on official O2 phones .
it doesnt seem to affect the ability to make or receive calls

It is affecting calls. Sometime i can't even ring my voicemail. when it goes to no service it takes ages for it to get a signal again and can stay at one bar for a long time. It has an i-tena fitted as well at the moment which doesn't seem to be doing anything for the phone. At the moment i'm sitting in a big glass showroom and its still only showing one bar. On my nokia it shows 5.

Is is possible to merge calls on a non O2 iPhone Contract? I'm with Vodafone, but I can't seem to and would love to be able to use this feature....

Ok this might have been answered somewhere else in this thread already but it is very long and I've looked for hours all over with no luck....

Is it possible to get delivery reports for SMS on the iPhone on the Meteor network?

I understand on O2 you enter *0# into a message before sending it but this doesn't work on Meteor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

Hi lads,
I'm on Vodafone, 16GB unlocked. I had an 8GB and that was unlocked too. With BOTH phones I have to say call quality was not always stellar. How is the quality for the 02 and Meteor people out there. Is it just my iPhone or ar alll iPhones on all networks not great.

I am comparing it to my old Nokia N70 which had great call quality.

Signal on my 4GB iPhone (yep...that old!) is terrible with Meteor, so I can't speak for anyone else but it could just be on all the iPhones as I had no problems with my old N95 8GB.

Is anybody experiencing EDGE issues with Meteor lately?

I am on bill pay with 250MB data bundle and first it was fine, but over the last couple of days it hasn't been working that well. Sometimes it is OK but at other times the Internet stops working. Usually a reboot of the phone solves the problem but sometimes it doesn't and I have to wait a few hours for it to come back.

At any time (even when Internet access is not working) the EDGE icon is there and if I go to to the terminal and type ifconfig I can see the EDGE interface is up and has an IP address assigned.

Anyone in the same situation? Or anyone with the same set who can confirm it is fine and the problem is with my phone and not with Meteor?

It doesn't appear on any options.All what appears on the main screen of the phone now is "Cydia" Now i can't get the contacts on the sim.
Is it possible to forward text messages?
Also when trying to set up my e-mail which is @yahoo.ie it keeps saying "The user name or password for imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com is incorrect" Any suggestions?

Can anyone help?

Got an 8gb iPhone, unlocked, a few weeks ago. Connected it with my wifi connection at home and everything was working perfectly.

In the past few days though, I can't access the internet at all. Keep getting the message; Safari can't open the page because it can't find the server.

I've disconnected the Wifi connection completely and then restarted it but I'm not having any luck!

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem a couple of days ago. I think it may have been caused by fring. All I did was go into the iPhone settings and reset the network settings. Then entered the meteor ISP settings again. Hope that helps!

As far as I know, cydia is an alternative to installer. I'd say googling "cydia sources" would sort you out with a few download links for apps. to get installer you might have to ssh it onto your iPhone or add it using another jailbreak app. Check out the hackint0sh.org forums for better info on what to do.

To get installer go back to iliberty+ click on the advanced tab and select installer then run iliberty and you will have installer

Wetool in the installler allows you to forward sms

Does Yahoo support imap

reset network settings

or see if the phone is getting an IP address if it is 169.***.**.** then it is not getting an IP hit forget this network and join the network again

What version modem firmware are you on

You could try resetting all settings or try to restore and unlock it again

Or try it on a different network

Hey,

When in keypad and dialling a number on my sisters iphone her zero button has become unresponsive. Anyone any idea's on how to fix this? The phone is unlocked etc so not under warranty....

Any help greatly appreciated!

Yeah, I've made Skype calls on it. Connected OK, quality wasn't great though.

For a SIP server, you can download and install Asterisk (or TrixBox) for a full PBX. It's Linux based though, so that might not suit. If you buy a Digium (or clone) card you can then hook it up to a landline to make PSTN calls.

Another option is Brekeke, which runs on Windows (I've tested it on XP). I'm not sure how you'd go about setting it up on PSTN though.

Yes in fring i presume you mean

you need a voip account with freespeech or voipstunt or someone like that

go to communities when you have fring open enter your username and password from your voip account then enter the sip server for that account it will be something like sip.voipstunt.com then hit subscribe

then go to dialer in fring enter the number and then hit the green sip button and the call will begin

is it just the zero button and is it only on the dialer

Hi Lads,
Just wondering about using edge, does the phone automatically check for emails on edge or is there some kinda warning first? Same with maps etc?
Don't want it to cost me an arm and a leg without me knowing!
