There's a Volume Boost (1.1.3) available in Installer somewhere. Supposedly pipes up your volume quite a bit.

    PC or MAC

if PC then use Ziphone2.5 advanced options to activate and jailbreak

And then use Ziphone 2.4 to unlock

If MAc use Independence There is a tutorial on www.hackthatphone.com

Either of those will leave the bootloader as is

If it is a few weeks away there is what should be the best option by then which is PWNED by the iphone dev team which appears to be custom firmwares.

Similar to cooked roms from the windows mobile OS

Thanks for the reply - all I have to do now is get through customs wihout having to pay the customs duty :) anyone have any tips as I'll be buying 2 of em?

anyone have a link for Ziphone2.4? I can't seem to find one and everywhere else has the 2.5 one?

Who unlocked the phone how did they unlock it

Sounds like it is not actually unlocked

As for 02 knocking people off on unregged phones makes no sense for a start if you are on the 02 network then they are still making money off you and the bonus for 02 is that they keep all the money as if you are not regged then they dont have to share with apple.

AT&T and O2 in the Uk have not done this so I would say it is bull**** but if O2 want to stop you spending money on their network there are 2 other networks that will gladly take your money

Thanks , figured it was dodge sim and went to vodafone to replace sim ..... they couldn't give a **** that its iphone :D and works fine.
However EDGE does not seem to be working any one know how to fix this ?

Does anyone know if it's ok to use the American mains charger than comes with an American IPhone, over here (obviously with the relevant plug adapter)? Don't want to blow anything on the iphone so I haven't used it yet.

Yes it's fine. The supplied AC adapter can handle both voltages.

I used my old 3G iPod charger (firewire plugged into AC adapter into the wall) to charge it once. And just checked there - they seem to have the same voltage and ampage. Unless I'm reading it wrong.

But I bought this nice little device to charge the iPhone from now on: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055241529

    Nice one, thanks.

On a different topic, I'm on O2 pay as you go and am considering using IPlus to downgrade to 3.9 fakeblank while upping to 1.1.4 (currently at 1.1.3). However, has there been any update on those mysterious 9011 texts people reported as being sent once you updated to 1.1.4 and were using an O2 pay as you go sim?

The upgrade isn't necessary and is only cause I'd like everything working 100% (locate me) but can hold off on it if people think it's not worth it.

Hi folks, i'm in a serious pickle. I bought an iphone unlocked and ziphoned today amd i cannot get o2 reception at all. I've tried everything. When i go into my carrier it says auto or manual. When i click auto it searches for a while and eventually no service. When i click manual it gives me an error msg. I really need to get this fixed as its now the only mobile that i have. Anyone have any ideas?? I've tried other sims as well but to no avail.

Does the top say NO SERVICE no matter what sim card 02,Vodafone or Meteor you put in.

If yes then I think you may be ****ed for the moment

When you got the phone was it 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 if yes then you had the 4.6 bootloader if you check now then you probably have the 3.9 bootloader because Ziphone downgraded your bootloader. Unfortunately there is no way back to 4.6 and the downgrade has messed up.

I don't think it is worth it

but if you really wanted to you could try and restore to 1.1.4 then use iplus which would downgrade you to 3.9 fakeblank and unlock etc. Then downgrade the baseband to 04.03.13 then restore to 1.1.3 then you would be on 3.9fakeblank with 1.1.3 and the 1.1.3 baseband then just use Ziphone 2.4 to jailbreak and activate and use anysim 1.1.3 to unlock.

That way you would have a baseband that supported locateme without the OS that sends 9011 texts.

NOT suggesting you do this just thinking out loud.

You need to install openssh on the iphone you will find it in the installer

    Files and programs are included.
    http://rapidshare.com/files/77467556...oader.rar.html

    Install WINSCP
Login to winscp with your ip adres. Check your IP in settings, wifi and then blue arrow.
    Username : root
    Password: alpine
If you can’t connect, change file protocol

    Put BBupdater in /usr/bin
    Remove .txt from file
Click rightmouse on file and put permissions to 755
    Close WINSCP

    Open putty
Give ip adres and username (root) and password (alpine)
    Put this in terminal:

    launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
    cd /usr/bin
    bbupdater -v
    launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

You can copy and past in putty (just click rightmouse to past)

Putty is now pinging your baseband and you will get something like this:

    Resetting target...
    pinging the baseband...
    issuing +xgendata...
    firmware: DEV_ICE_MODEM_04.02.13_G
    eep version: EEP_VERSION:208
    eep revision: EEP_REVISION:1
    bootloader: BOOTLOADER_VERSION:4.6_M3S2

    Taken from here

you will probably see bootloader: BOOTLOADER_VERSION:3.9_M3S2

If you do there is nothing you can do at the moment bar opening the phone and forcing a hardware bootloader upgrade.

Unfortunately Ziphone has ****ed your phone if you want to try restoring and trying different firmware versions try that but I spent 3 days this week on an iphone that Ziphone ****ed up the same way and nothing worked same result no matter what .

    Again

DO NOT USE Ziphone 2.5C to unlock your iphone if your Iphone was 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 when you bought it.

IT WILL DOWNGRADE YOUR BOOTLOADER TO A VERSION OF 3.9 that is not reversible

    IT MAY BREAK YOUR PHONE

I have an old ipod firewire charger it is 12 volt compared to the iphone which is 5 volt

Be careful using anything other than the official apple charger or an approved apple iphone charger.

What appears to happen is that they actually over charge the iphone and burn out the circuits on the iphone.

I particularly would not trust any of the cheap chinese ebay crap either wall or car.

    Hi guys,
Anyone on here had any bad experiences with charging an iPhone in the official iPod Hi-Fi? I had an 8GB since September and been charging it no probs. I have a 16GB on the way and just wanna check as I did hear somwhere online that the iPod Hi-Fi could possibly damage it.

    Cheers,
    M

yes i remeber reading on this specific thread that ipod docks can damage the iphone.

something to do with ipod being 8volts and the iphone being 5volts.

ohh and o2 had some outage last night which may of contributed to some no service messages.

    Dropped my iphone lastnight :(

Screen is still working but there's a line going accross the screen, half way down. There's also a few small lines on the top left of the screen

how long should it take to restore the iphone to 1.1.4? I'm doing it now and it's taking ages.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,260 ✭✭✭swingking

I've just updated my iphone firmware to 1.1.4 and unlocked it using iPlus. It's a very simple, hasstle free way to unlock your iphone.
