    Yep... 4.03.13_G here on 1.1.3! :(

Most of the advice against doing it relates to the actual process of doing it you have got through that so thats the good news

It might never make a difference once you have it done

Cheers for the advice cdebru. Hopefully it won't make a difference in the future.

Here's a way to check if ziphone downloaded your BL

Add the source to your installer : http://www.trejan.com/irepo

    Install BBInfo under Utility category

I used the iplus unlock method to 1.1.4 and I'm running 3.9BL.

It actually worked without any hasstle

The difference is that the 3.9 that you are on is fake blank which was developed in response to the problems inherent in the Ziphone 3.9

Unlike those who used Ziphone you can go back to 4.6 if the need should arise

does the fakeblank 3.9 bootloader behave in the same way as the regular 3.9 bootloader?

In other words; is the upgrade process easier to do?

    Not sure what you mean

Fakeblank is like the original 3.9 bootloader in that it allows you to update to the lastest baseband firmware and unlock it.

It is unlike the original 3.9 in that you can update the bootloader itself to 4.6

Hi guys, theres a slightly confusing note on the iphone site, saying that the $399 phone is only available when you sign up with at&t for 2 years. I just want to confirm that you can just walk into the istore in new york and buy an iphone over the counter without signing up to anything, can anybody confirm this? Thanks a million

Apparently yes. Thats what I was planning to do in Orlando in August anyway.

Yeah this is the case. You will need to pay by credit card and bring photo ID with you.

does this apply to all iphone users that used ziphone 2.5c or just 1.1.2otb upwards, I have an original 1.0.2otb that I upgraded to 1.1.2 a while back. I ran ziphone 2 weeks ago but didnt downgrade baseband cause i thought i didnt need to, but when i check the about settings, I'm on 04.03.13_G. I've had no problems with phone, just worried if I can use pwned tool etc in the future

No your phone came with the 3.9 bootloader out of the box so Ziphone did nothing to it

Should be ok with the PWNED as long as it is compatible with 3.9 bootloaders

Not in AT&T stores I paid in cash no problems Apple had a credit card only policy but i think they have relaxed it now

There is no customs between the UK and Ireland. AppleStores will only ship to their own countries, i.e. the UK won't ship to Irish adresses.

Jailbreak it, and install the nes/snes/gba and playstation emulators and ftp some roms onto your iphone (i use winSCP)

You can also download some games in installer under the games section. Super pong is the best i think.

I got my iPhone last month, went into AT&T, they said I had to signup for 2 years, went to the Apple Store, bought an iPhone over the counter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,260 ✭✭✭swingking

if you do a search for ipodtouchmaster on youtube, you will find a great video tutorial on how to copy the roms across to your iphone. He uses an ipod touch but it's the same software.

Will ZiPhone v2.4 dowgrade the bootloader even though the Downgrade bootloader checkbox is unchecked? I had it unchecked and used the Do It All button then, I'm 99% certain, I saw the phone say it was on 4.6 M3S2 then later on in the process it said it was version 3.9...

Or am I misunderstanding the whole bootloader thing?

Once you click do it all then it downgrades the bootloader

the advanced option only applies if you unselect downgrade bootloader and then click perform actions

AT&T do seem to require contracts with phone purchases in-store but I did read an interview a while back (I think via Darla Mack's blog) with the CEO of AT&T who claimed that this was not actually mandatory and that customers can buy the hardware without a commitment - you just have to know to ask in the correct manner - can't recall what it was - its in the interview.

When it comes to this kind of thing AT&T make the Irish telcos look good - quite an achievement ;)
