    Guys,

Looking for a review of the Dell Inspiron 1720. I saw a Toshiba Equim P200 for Euro 750 with trubrite display and a 2 GB memory. I'm now comparing it with the Dell Inspiron 1720 and wonder how the two compare. Am waiting for Dell to email me the quote because the operator had such poor English I couldn't understand half of what he was saying to me and he seemed more interested in colour machine I wanted as well as attempting to seel me bluetooths, webcams and anything else he could offload! hate a hardsell and wish someone would listen to what I want and then quote me for it. (I want a laptop for home use, capable of comfortable running the MS Office, and accessing the internet for school projects, research etc). all replies much appreciated.

Just received my vostro 1000. All very nice expect the sound is f*cked, all crackily and stuff. They're sending somebody round on Friday as they reckon it's a motherboard issue.

    sh*t

If it was me, I would expect at least a replacement laptop. You should say that to them or else use your cooling off period to return the product.

Got the lot for €1340, could have got the 9 cell battery instead of the 2gb jump drive but dont like the way it sticks out at the back.

**EDIT** I sacrifised the an extra 2 years warranty for the 4GB ram, probably be no use to me when it fails after a year though

Seems like good value, allthough the graphics are not up to much. Fine if your not gaming though. Ye might also want to add a 6 cell battery if your mobile.

it's possibly only a driver issue - I had the same problem a few months ago (you'd think they'd have sorted it wouldn't you). Anyway, I phoned tech support, guy was excellent and had it all sorted within 30 minutes. Phone tech support and they may be able to sort it out today for you.

I'm recommending the same system to my brother in law, but without the extra support. Saves approx 150 on the price. Upgrade the battery, then it's a good deal.

Where did you get the price with a saving of €150 without the 3yrs? I was given a price of €627 without the 3 years for the exact same spec. This is including vat and delivery by the way.

Just go to www.dell.ie and enter N0215016 in the search box at the top of the page - it finds the offer.

Remember folks, keep checking the dell outlet store as well - I just ordered a dell xps m1330 specced at:

    2.2ghz core 2 duo processor
    2gigs ram
    200gigs harddrive
    Nvidia 8400m
    9 cell battery

which came in at 866 euro. speccing this on the dell website it came in at roughly 1500 euro all in.

ok I just checked that - if you just search the code, it brings you to the spec which includes upgraded warranty and a delivery charge - hence the 803 price.

However, if you go to the main page, go to laptops : small and home business

go to vostro, select Vostro 1500, select the offer system at the far right side, click customize. Choose basic warranty, upgrade the screen to Truelife, there's free shipping et voila, €621

You're going to have to make a choice. Either gaming or battery life. An 8600 will use a lot of battery power even when you're not gaming.
