Just want to add myself to the thanks list for this thread.

I've had my iPhone since the start of the month.

Since my China3gpp sim arrived this morning I've finally got myself a iPhone that works as a phone

So what piece of technology will I obsess about now?

A friend is in new york now, if I get them to get me an iphone will it be unlockable?

As stated earlier iWorld doesn't seem to be compatible with 1.1.3 so I did the 'users.skynet fix to try and get the incoming calls to match with the contacts, but it still didn't seem to work. Initially I started to duplicate the numbers in any contact that didn't work so that a contact contained -
'087XXXXXXX
as well as
+35387XXXXXXX

However after a bit of digging around there is a fix which works for me now which is to change the second instance of 'ie' (just before the '353') in the above file to 'us'.
This appears to work on my 1.1.2OTB US iPhone (week 50) upgraded to 1.1.3 (via Natetrue version) using a hardware Xsim.

If it is 1.1.2 then you can unlock it with a sim insert

if it is 1.1.3 then you can jailbreak it and you should be able to unlock it with a sim insert shortly

Hay heading to ny in a few weeks dose anyone know how easy or hard it will be to unlock an i-phone if i get one. or is there some one here in ireland that i can pay when i come back to unlock it?

, am still playing with it discovering new things, however, 2 questions - my alarm won't go off if my phone is switched off? any fixes? also when I sync'd my iphone with itunes unfortunately I forgot to say I'd select my own songs and it sync'd EVER song - some r my sons rap. How do I delete songs from iphone?

cdebru answered this question for someone else in the post immediately before yours! :-)

Not hard to unlock yourself, just follow one of the many online tutorials, if you don't understand what they say, then most unlocking shops should be able to do it for you.

Note in a few weeks time, the the phones for sale in the shops will likely have 1.1.3 firmware

Guys,

I've ordered two Stealth Sims from unlockthatiphone.com, they have been ordered with I think close on 10 days now, I checked the site, waited till after the 18th when they said they'd have them in stock and ordered two.

Now I'm only down in Waterford so from Fermoy shouldn't take that long .. I've tried ringing the 021 number on the site but it just rings out...

Anyone else had any difficulties with them ? Anyone got a contact within the company ?

untick the songs you do not want in itunes and sync again

What do you mean when the phone is off is it completely off or just the screen is off

There is a little switch above the volume control if that is turned off the phone will not make any noise like ring or alarm

No, the phone rings perfectly during the day, but I turn it off at night (power off) but the alarm wont ring when the phone is powered off.

i got my *sim from dealextreme today and it works prefectly with my 1.1.2 ootb USA iphone. not sure if it works with the U.K. one. it only cost around €20. i dont no why some people are paying around 100 for them...

Just to let people know Spectra beside Trinity College are selling the Griffin iClear case for 25. It's a really nice crystal case that hardly adds any bulk to the iPhone. They are also selling the earphone adapters for 12 euro.

HMV in Limerick also had the headphone adapters for 12euro. Handly since I lost the one I got in the States on the plane over.

@ davkav - what worked for me was modifying the text file in the 'Support' folder. I did apply the patched version of appsupport from the net first but not sure that it actually did anything. In the end I changed the 'ie' in the text file to 'us' (see below) and now everythings perfect - it even updated received and missed calls with the caller id. The ONLY issue I have now is bluetooth with my car kit. Everything else is working 100%.

BTW all my numbers are saved as +353.... the ID is working for calls and SMS

Can anyone tell me if I can update a Nate True 1.1.3 to a Dev Team 1.1.3? Is there any difference? Can I just run the Dev Team soft update through installer.app over True Nates?

I just want to know how unlock the iPhone so a Vodafone sim could be used. I am not interested in application downloads, of anything to do with computer software at all. It has come to my attention that it is possible to do it on the iPhone alone by typing in codes, does anybody know how to do this?

AFAIK Nailz one goes with the other. The iPhone has to be jailbroken (allow 3rd party applications) before it can be unlocked, whether the unlock is via software or a TurboSim or similar piece of hardware. I think unlock codes will be released within 6 months as French law made this obligatory when the iPhone was launched there.

does anyone know about skpye for iphone? iv tried to use IM+ Skype on my iphone but when i try to make a call it says error. Im on vodafone and dont have much of a 3G signal where im living. Can it work for me??

I txt & phone the USA quite a lot & am looking for a cheap way to do this on my iphone.
