Thanks for that valuable info Dan, I'm shocked.

Major flaw from Apple I think, biggest factor for me in buying all their products is because of their compatibility to work so well & easily with each other. But sadly not the case here so, your advice gladly appreciated.

    Cheers.

Including myself and about 5 other people on this thread, this problem is a common one amoungst people.

I really shouldn't have to keep taking the sim card out to make it work. Is there any fix that available.

I was reading on hackint0sh that you can edit the sms.db file. I really don't have a clue how to do this tho.

I'm really getting pissed off with my iPhone as well

Is there any solution to this problem rather than a) 5005 hack or b) take the sim out and put it back into the phone

I am going to give this phone another week and if it's not working then it's going up for sale

I am having the same problem...
When I send a text it says "error sending message". This only started yesterday morning and then yday evening it said NO SIM. So I turned it off and back on and was fine except the messages still don't send.

It is unlocked with a turbosim. I know this is a stupid question, but how do I take out the sim card slot to try to realign the turbosim???

Also, resetting the general settings - is this safe?

Beside your earphone dock you will see a small hole push a paper clip into it and the sim tray pops out

I suggest that anyone with this problem post up your details ie firmware version phone week no service provider make of sim ,apps installed etc

See if there is something obvious that you all have in common

In the meantime Dans suggestion that you delete messages on the sim is a good one I think unklerosco said his problem was fixed by a new sim which obviously would have no messages stored on it

Lastly go into tescos and buy a sim for 7.99 see if you can send texts from that if you can it would rule out other faults and narrow it down to a sim problem

That's a very good idea, have had an iPhone for some months now, starting with 1.0.2 firmware, never had a problem with texting, now running 1.1.2 and again no problems (on Vodafone bill pay)

Anyone know of any good sites for decent wallapers and summerboard themes? Oh, and does anyone know of any other decent sources to add to AppTapp?

    What cases are people using?

I just ordered a TuffWrap case. I'm also considering a seeJacket. The OtterBox looks tempting but pricey.

    I'm go bareback.

I do have a screen protector that I got for 4$ in the states but other that that, it's fine. The back holds up fairly well. Has a few light scratches, but its very Fett-ish :)

What sim insert are you using or where did you get it is it glued to your sim card

Did you uninstall any apps before texts stopped working

Did you try Dans suggestion of deleting any stored messages on the sim

Have you tried using a different sim in your phone to see if it can send texts

Iphones that are already software unlocked (inc. via Anysim) and jailbroken, can now be upgraded easily to 1.1.3 via Installer. It takes around 45 mins to complete (depending on your internet connection), because it has to download 1.1.3 over wifi. There is no need to connect the Iphone to a PC or Mac. After upgrade the Iphone remains unlocked and jailbroken, and no further action is needed. I did mine last night.

I upgraded from 1.1.2, which was upgraded from 1.1.1, which was upgraded from 1.0.2. Seems ok so far, except one app that I used regularly on 1.1.2 seems to crash now. Still, I'm hoping for an update for that. Google Maps' locate me function doesn't seem to work, but I expected that. All else seems ok (thus far..).

I'm using a Signature Case-Mate case for my iphone. It's really nice keeps it safe. It also comes with a screen protector which has worked very well for me. I plan on changing to one of their carbon fibre cases soon.

There are reports of people losing all sound using that method and hackthatphone.com are saying the installer is flawed

Natetrues Method seems the best way to update to 1.1.3 there are problems with number formats but they can be fixed

And you would be better going up from 1.1.2
