Looks like my stealth sim from unlockthatiphone.ie has been cancelled ...by them...no reason given and the day before was supposed to be shipped. Have asked them whats the stroy via e-mail (not going to ask here Dan).

Anyhow, anybody got a good recomendation for something that will do the trick with fast delivery time (have been waiting sine Xmas day)...US phone, 1.1.2 already jail breaked...

    Thanks,
    John.

I got two NextSIMS on Ebay for my wife and I and they worked a treat. You have a US iPhone so it will be even easier than it was for me with the O2UK Phones.

    been refunded myself,

here's the email i got from them - i've reordered again, hope to christ they actually ship tomorrow.
    Hi Guys

As we're sure many of you are aware, you have either received a refund or you will receive a refund tonight for your payments through CCNOW. We understand this is frustrating for all of you so we are not gonna lie or make up stories.

Basically CCNOW have been messing us around since December, they were supposed to make payment to us on 1st January, then yesterday, 16th January and today they have told us we wont get a payment till 16th February, 4 weeks away. As we are a small company, and the volume of Stealth SIMS that has been ordered from us is way more than we expected, we just cannot wait that long for a payment, we cannot cover that type of Cash Flow. Because of this we have cut our contract with CCNOW and all payments made through them will be refunded by 12 tonight GMT.

So, where do we go from here?? Tomorrow we will receive 356 Stealth SIMS and we will start shipping tomorrow. For any of you who want to re-order, please feel free to do so through the Site and your order will be shipped tomorrow 18th January.

Finally, we would like to send you all our sincerest apologies for the whole situation and we look forward to hearing and doing business with you all in the future.

    Kind Regards,
    Unlock That iPhone

What I really can't understand though, is why O2, AT&T and Apple stores apparently allow customers to walk in and buy Iphones over the counter, and walk away without signing a contract. It wouldn't happen with any other contract mobile phone purchase. I know that Iphones are not network subsidised like other mobile phones are, but they're still sold subject to airtime contract.

Yeah I've wondered that myself, but hey I'm not complaining, iPhone cost me €300 instead of what.... €600-€700 or maybe even more for a network free version if they did one.
Also, I would really like to know the percentage of iphones sold worldwide which have not been activated officially (ie using anysim or the likes of turbosim/stealthsim etc.) and surely Apple's accountants must also be aware of this and it would be interesting to know the financial benefit to Apple of all us users of hacked iPhones.
Somehow I cant help thinking that Apple knew all along that the phone would be able to be hacked (and obviously to their benefit!) but they also would of had to convince the official carriers that this was the only way the phone could have been designed.

Have a 1.1.2 OTB. Will the "X-Sim" unlock it? I'm fed up waiting for a stealthsim to come which has now been cancelled by unlockthatiphone.

Basically, is there anything I need to know about the x-sim or can I go ahead and get it?

    Thanks.

Looks like 1.1.2 OTB has been Hardware Unlocked. i.e. you have to open the phone and do some soldering. Not much use to most of us but I believe this is the next step in getting a software unlock.

I would say a lot of people are logging onto hackint0sh after 1.1.3 has been released in anticipation of a software unlock for 1.1.2. Viewing numbers are way up on the unlocking forum.

I have thought about this also Benifa. If Apple look for in-store registration this stops people buying the iphone as gifts online. I would say in the US a lot of these phones have been bought online as gifts for others. Im sure there are other reasons also.

    Google is your friend!

3 supply USIMs, 3G mode only
Other networks, Vodafone, O2 supply dual mode 3G/GSM SIMs

iPhone is GSM phone and needs GSM SIMs

    Hey Cdebru,

Just wanted to thank you for all your help in getting our phones working...got our simfreers today so the phone is now working too:D:D
    I just have a question...
my home wifi works on the phone but how do I make the internet work without my wifi connection. I am with Vodafone and we have signed up to the 9.99 extra per month for the internet. I have inserted the isp.vodafone.ie into the edge settings...is this enough to ensure we dont pay stupid rates for our internet or will it register that we have the internet at a set rate....
does this make sense?? Can you guide me...again:o

The 9.99 rate is for use with the live.vodafone.com APN only, it doesnt apply to isp.vodafone.ie

For those who dont no 1.1.3 has already been jailbroken but it is not ready for a release yet wont be for awhile but still its good news that its possible.I dont want people going to order sites and Quoting me as i tell Boards.ie users because it a good iphone community and if i wanted to tell the world i would post it on other sites myself.I am not having a go at anyone but just saying i would prefer to keep it in this community.
Thats how we checked the Stealth Sim.

FYI -- there's now a MMS sending app in the Installer. It's called Swirly MMS. Still trying to get it working though :( Anybody on Meteor gets it working, llet me know!

    Hi lads
Thread is humongos and hard to find exactly what i want,
I'd really appreciate it if someone coulld answer a small few questions.

Friend is going to new york next weekend, Will 350 euro get me the standard iphone??
What do i need to unlock it??
Will it accept my Meteor sim card once unlocked??

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

    1. 300 euros will get you an iphone they are $400 which is about 270-280 euros. there are two places to buy them, apple retail store (required to pay by credit card if not signing the contract there and then) or an AT&T store which will allow you to pay with benjamin's.

    2. if it's firmware version 1.1.2 or above you will need to jailbreak your iphone, and install a stealthsim/turbosim or similar.

    3. i believe Powerhousedan is using his iphone on meteor.

Just to be aware that if buying a phone if it 1.1.3 there is no jailbreak yet released ( Dan has seen a jailbreak but it has not been released and nobody knows when or if it can be released to the general public)

Also if/when jailbroken most or all of the current solutions may not work properly so you may have to wait for a revision of these to unlock the phone.

Good point, now that 1.1.3 is available via update via iTunes, it won't be long before US shops are selling 1.1.3's.

Best is to watch the various iPhone sites to see what week numbers start to ship with 1.1.3 and then check the serial number when buying :-)

I think the 9.99 offer is for 3G internet access and as such is not available for iphone users although the vodafone website does not make it clear

perhaps calling vodafone would be the best bet ask them what are the settings for the 9.99 offer

hi all...i jailbreaked my 1.1.2 iphone last night after many many days pulling my hair out and thanks to all who gave me great tips but the only thing is i cant restore it to 1.1.2 and dont know why...its jailbroken now to a 1.1.1 and i can use all on phone except for the phone...will my turbo sim that i have on order still work now does anybody know...thanks guys

Because you do NOT RESTORE to 1.1.2 you UPDATE to 1.1.2 and you will have to update to 1.1.2 as the modem version on a 1.1.2 otb is not compatible with 1.1.1
