2 questions please--

1. How do I put videos on the iPhone? Someone mentioned to put songs on it, create a folder, put songs in it and sync with that folder. Makes sense! But am I able to just throw a few videos into that folder too? Or do I eg. make a seperate folder?
(also what format does it support? AFAIK it's just .3pg

, is that right?)

2. Did any of ye get some sort of protective case for your iPhone? I'd like to protect the screen... I've seen videos that show how resilient it is -- but I've also noticed a few blemishes appearing on the screen, which I'd like to avoid.

Supplementary question -- does anyone else check 'Recent Packages' in the Installer every day, and get real excited at the new apps?!

I got a silicone case, car charger and screen protector from ebay,
this link is to another one of his auctions.
it worked out at about 5e.
the case is ok, it fits fine but it looks like itl stretch,
the screen protector im actually chuffed with,
i hadn't planned on using it at all but i find it really good,
you dont even notice it on, its washable and screen is still sensitive.

about the videos, i havent been able to get any on it yet,
any app i get to encode video to h264 crashes.
apparently h264 is the best choice to encode them 'cos the iphone has a
hardware based h.264 decoder (i could be wrong)

anyway, video spec from apple site:

In the meantime you could update to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2

Presuming your phone came with 1.0.2 you do not need a stealthsim

My iPhone came with 1.0.2 originally, I have it since September of last year. Is it a long process to go from 1.0.2 to 1.1.2, do I have to put 1.1.1 on first? What version are you currently running?

I can find the folder that contains music but not the movie one..

Thanks to the guys here I've upgraded my F/W to 1.1.1 . But I have a problem with EDGE settings .

I go into Settings , General , Network , Edge , Then when I input the APN settings tye phone returns to the Home screen .

Any Ideas .. Looks like a new install perhaps !

If it was 1.0.2 then you would be safer to virginize the phone first and start from there

You could jailbreak the phone in 1.0.2 then run OKtoprep from there and update to 1.1.2

probably easier to update to 1.1.1 jailbreak run oktprep and update to 1.1.2 (because jailbreak is easier in 1.1.1)

I have 1.1.2 running

Originally when I paired my phone with my car kit it came up as "previous owners name" which was fine as i still had to jailbreak/upgrade phone so knew this would be deleted.

My car kit now shows the iPhone with the name "192.168.6.4" which is the IP the iPhone has in my network or today it shows up as "local host".

1.1.2 US iPhone here, jailbroken/unlocked.

iTunes sees it as my iPhone!

rename the iphone in itunes should fix it

click on iphone and press f2

hi cdebru, ive re-synced my phone but still the same, i was just thinking because i bought the songs directly from my phone would i have to back them up in itunes first and if so how do i do it??

I'm on O2 and no matter waht I do it returns to the home screen after I input the first line .

The problem started after I installed Extended Preferences Version 1.3 , I try going into the installer and uninstalling it but get "Main script execution failed!"

Could you do a copy of this and I'll try to re-install !

Amazing that StealthSim works with 1.1.3, but I'm puzzled as to how it does, and the TurboSim doesn't.
Dan - have you tested this yourself or just heard reports? I presume it works on a non-jailbroken 1.1.3? If so, how does this work - first activate the 1.1.3 phone legit, and then swap AT&T sim for stealthSim & network sim of your choice?
Any idea what is so different about stealthsim to the others that makes it work?

If ye havent been reading it there is already a temp jailbreak but not available for the iphone user base, We tested it and it works.I Dont know whats the difference between them to be honest and i thought if the stealth sim worked so would others.

That's really good progress - does it look like a stable jailbreak that could be made public?

Also, if I were to make a new thread entitled iPhone FAQ with a brief synopsis of all the frequent questions and links to the best jailbreaking and unlocking tuturials, would the mods sticky it? The same questions keep popping up every page in this thread, and with all the discussion of the latest news in here it can make it very confusing.

Yes because they cant test it because they cant activate it.It has already been tested with Turbo sim on a legit activated at&t phone and didnt work.Reason? I dont no.

This may sound like a really stupid question but

why are apple going to all extremes to unsure the iphone is unlocked. At the end of the day they are the only crowd who make the iphone and therefore make money from every single iphone sold.

I've bought phones from o2 and they themselves have given me the unlocking code to enable it to work on another network.

I understand that they don't want people making profits from their products but if all iphones were sim free, then the availablity of the iphones worldwide would be perfect. Plus, the market for the iphone wouldn't be as high for non-legitimate sellers.

There are companies who already make sim-free smartphones; Hp, Palm and HTC. Why do these companies not insist on making it impossible to unlock their devices?

It's all about money.

The networks that carry the Iphone pay Apple for the exclusivity and ability to monopolise the Iphone market in a particular country. Of course, they plan that they'll recoup their money from the customer, by way of pay monthly contract.

Thus, Apple have a duty to these networks to ensure their investment remains viable. In other words, Apple need to keep the networks happy by making it difficult for people to buy an Iphone but not use the fixed term monthly line rental contract that comes with it.

What I really can't understand though, is why O2, AT&T and Apple stores apparently allow customers to walk in and buy Iphones over the counter, and walk away without signing a contract. It wouldn't happen with any other contract mobile phone purchase. I know that Iphones are not network subsidised like other mobile phones are, but they're still sold subject to airtime contract.

Looks like my stealth sim from unlockthatiphone.ie has been cancelled ...by them...no reason given and the day before was supposed to be shipped. Have asked them whats the stroy via e-mail (not going to ask here Dan).

Anyhow, anybody got a good recomendation for something that will do the trick with fast delivery time (have been waiting sine Xmas day)...US phone, 1.1.2 already jail breaked...

hi all...i jailbreaked my 1.1.2 iphone last night after many many days pulling my hair out and thanks to all who gave me great tips but the only thing is i cant restore it to 1.1.2 and dont know why...its jailbroken now to a 1.1.1 and i can use all on phone except for the phone...will my turbo sim that i have on order still work now does anybody know...thanks guys

Just wanted to thank you for all your help in getting our phones working...got our simfreers today so the phone is now working too:D:D
I just have a question...
my home wifi works on the phone but how do I make the internet work without my wifi connection. I am with Vodafone and we have signed up to the 9.99 extra per month for the internet. I have inserted the isp.vodafone.ie into the edge settings...is this enough to ensure we dont pay stupid rates for our internet or will it register that we have the internet at a set rate....
does this make sense?? Can you guide me...again:o
