    Dan,
Ok, I've read up on so much stuff I'm now confused on top of being confused!
I bough an iphone in USA last week which is a 1.1.2 version. After reading up on things, I d/graded to 1.1.1 thinking I could use it. However, while I can use all the applications on it, I can't use it as a phone. It says sim locked - when i press unlock it asks for a pin, when I input my pin (which I use to get into my old nokia) it says 'incorrect SIM, this iphone must be used with an approved sim.' Does that mean I have to buy the iphonesimfreer sim to put in with my old sim? and b4 I do that do I have to again upgrade to 1.1.2? I've gotten this far and now I'm so frustrated I can only half use it!

    Thanks :)

lads having a bit of trouble here i just got my iphone today managed to dongrade to 1.1.1 and have jailbroken it i am now at the stage where i need to upgrade to 1.1.2 which i managed to download to my pc however i am afraid to do the following 3 steps in case it tries to put 1.1.3 onto it cos i am using itunes 7.6!Step 3: Prepare your 1.1.1 device for the Update

    1. Launch Installer.app

    2. Scroll down to Tweaks (1.1.1)

    3. Select OktoPrep

    4. Click Install

    Step 4: Update to 1.1.2

    1. Connect your device to your computer

    2. Launch iTunes

    3. Choose your device

    4. Click Update

    - DO NOT CLICK OR SHIFT-CLICK RESTORE: That will wipe the changes OktoPrep made.

    5. Wait forever for your device to update

Step 5: Jailbreak your iPhone with 1.1.2 firmware

    1. Close iTunes

    2. Connect your device to your computer

    3. double click on windows.bat from this zip file

    4. Follow the on screen instructions. also make sure you have the latest java installed else the windows.bat file wont work.

    any help appreciated

when you get to the update stage instead of clicking update you should shift click update and select 1.1.2. you have to download the 1.1.2. firmware its given a couple of pages back

let us know how you get on with it

    Hi lads,
I'm on 1.0.2 Firmware. Just read about all the cool things on version 1.1.3 and am wondering what my options are? Would love to update. Also, can anyone explain exactly what these stealth SIM jobs are and how they work?

    Cheers,
    M

    Hi all.
I don't think anyone's posted a video for jailbreaking 1.1.2 before (or if such is permitted?); here's one I found. Looks like it goes by the steps in the recent guides.

Search google for: "How to fully Downgrade, Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone to 1.1.2". It should be the 1st and 2nd links.

You may want to disregard the part at the end about AnySim.

Edit: Oh, and click the more link on the right for all the links/wares required.

(nb: I do not have my iphone yet, this is purely info found while researching for when mine arives)

No the guide is telling you that you must click the update button not the restore button if you restore you undo OKtoprep

What ryan told you is correct

Hold down the shift key (or the option key on a mac) and click the update button on itunes then select 1.1.2 from the browser
If you are really paranoid disconnect from the internet if that works itunes will not be able to get 1.1.3

Don't update to 1.1.3 yet until the jailbreak is released and hopefully an update for anysim

In the meantime you could update to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2

Presuming your phone came with 1.0.2 you do not need a stealthsim

now for something completely different:) not sure if i should start seperate thread as not really an unlocking ques and thread is getting pretty big

How do i change bluetooth device name on iphone?

Originally when I paired my phone with my car kit it came up as "previous owners name" which was fine as i still had to jailbreak/upgrade phone so knew this would be deleted.

My car kit now shows the iPhone with the name "192.168.6.4" which is the IP the iPhone has in my network or today it shows up as "local host".

    1.1.2 US iPhone here, jailbroken/unlocked.

iTunes sees it as my iPhone!

Can someone tell me how I go about editing the phone's BT ID?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭whyulittle

Just out of interest etcetc, when you were setting it up, did the iPhone find the car kit, or did the car kit find the iPhone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,260 ✭✭✭swingking

does anyone know why my songs won't drag to my iphone in the LH navigation bar

Time to give something back to the thread. :)

Set up a new folder/playlist in iTunes, drag whatever songs you want into that, and then you can sync that folder with your iPhone.

    @whyulittle

    sart pairing with car kit

    Turn bluetooth on in iPhone
    car kit finds iphone
    iphone picks up car kit
car bluetooth looks for password and then iphone looks for password
    that's it your done

I rang vodafone last week just to check the cost of internet usage on the i-phone since i purchased in the states in late dec , to my complete surprise the charges were Euro 180 inc vat for only about 9 days!!!!!!!!!!!! I was using everyday alright but not all bloody day . I would use wi-fi if i knew how ? Any good user guides ? Have went to places with free wi-fi but can never seem to connect .

Yeah seems that you can get the iPhone to connect and go on the internet using 'isp.vodafone.ie' but that will cost you €20 per MB!!

and the 'live.vodafone.com' (that's the 99c per day connection) doesn't seem to work, I get this 'NSURLErrorDomain:-1005' message??
