this thread is getting absolutely huge!

Mods any chane of a sub-forum to mobiles & PDAs for iPhone.

You could have 2 stickies at the top one for software unlocking and one for Hardware options such hyper card or turbo-sim etc.

Anyone else think this would be a good idea??

    edit:

I reckon it would be a good idea to sub forum: phone Manufacturers, Service providers and a general forum too.
    Just an idea

Just wondering why people are opting for the dearer turbo-sim over hyper-card.

I have a hyper crd myself paid €60 in total including PP arrvied in 4 working days via DHL

There are guides on hackthatphone.com and iclarified and hackintosh.org

I presume it is on 1.1.2

Download 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 firmware versions and Ibrickr and jailbreak for 1.1.2 links on hackthatphone.com

put if into restore mode by holding the home and the power button till screen goes black then let go of the power button keeping holding the home button connect the phone to itunes

Press shift and restore direct it to where you have 1.1.1 downloaded to

when it is finished you get error 1015

Turn off itunes start ibrickr reboot phone using ibrickr screen goes red all is good

then jailbreak using the wifi method

Then run OKTOPREP from the installer

Then UPDATE to 1.1.2 then jailbreak using the PC then install and run iworld

Phone is then activated and jailbroken then all you have to do is program the turbosim
i tried to jailbreak it but it was downloading 1.1.1 software and then it just turned off the screen...i have tried to put the phone into recovery mode again but when i hold the sleep and home button together it just comes up "slide to power off"...what could be the problem here...maybe the phone is still in recovery mode because when i put the phone onto the pc itunes ask if i want to activate iphone and when i press no it just says that its ok to eject iphone...if its the case that the phone is still in recovery mode how do i get it back to normal to start the whole process again from scracth

if "slide to power off" is coming up you havent completely shut down the phone in order to startup in recovery mode.

I find when i have the phone connected to the computer then shut it down and try startup in recovery it works every time when i have the cable in.
What i mean is that sometimes when i try to start in recovery without the cable in it just starts up as normal.

The turbo-sim can be reprogrammed where im nearly sure the hyper sim cant.
So what could happen is 1.1.3 firmware comes out and hyper sim does not work with it the turbo sim may be reset to new settings if its possible to to hardware unlock the firmware.

Just rang GSM solutions they are based in dublin to see if they have any of these things the have 40 coming in tomorrow but they are all sold out and they will be making another order but they will take 7-10 days to arrive. Apparently they are turbosims and they are charging a whoping €129 each:eek: a bit steep if you ask me!

Okay here it is plain and simple (windows method)

Ive jailbreaked 6 iPhones with this method and it works every time with no problems.

    Step 1: Restoring firmware 1.1.1

    1. Download the 1.1.1 ipsw firmware file from here

    2. Reboot your iPhone, with cable connected to PC, holding the top (power) and home buttons BUT release the top button 10 seconds into it (right after the screen shows the apple logo) and continue to hold the home button until iTunes detects the phone in recovery mode.

    3. Restore your iPhone by pressing and holding the ‘Shift’ key on windows then click ‘restore’ to select the 1.1.1 firmware file you downloaded earlier. The restore should complete with the error at the end with error 1015. The phone will then hang in connect to itunes mode.

    4. In order to kick the phone out of that mode I just had to launch
iPhuc and issue the following commands:
    cmd setenv auto-boot true
    cmd saveenv
    cmd fsboot

Step 2: Jailbreaking Iphone with version 1.1.1 firmware

    1. enter *#307# press call, now use the back button on the top of your screen to remove *#307# , now enter 0 , press call, press answer, press hold, press decline. And you get to the contact list.

    2. you should now be able to acces your contacts list and add a contact.

    3. Now edit a new contact and type in "prefs://" as web-address and "http://jailbreakme.com" as an additional URL.

    4. When you tap "prefs://" you can now select your favorite WiFi gateway.

    5. Now press the home button and move the slider to the dial-pad.

    6. Now you can go back to the contact list by Dialing 0, push call, then answer, then contacts, then hit the "http://jailbreakme.com" web address you typed in.

    7. Scroll down to the bottom, click "Install AppSnapp". Safari will exit and you'll return to the activate screen. Wait for the phone to reboot (about 30secs). You are now jailbroken. and are able to use Installer.app.

If the phone doesnt reboot, restart the phone yourself and repeat step 2

Step 3: Prepare your 1.1.1 device for the Update

    1. Launch Installer.app

    2. Scroll down to Tweaks (1.1.1)

    3. Select OktoPrep

    4. Click Install

    Step 4: Update to 1.1.2

    1. Connect your device to your computer

    2. Launch iTunes

    3. Choose your device

    4. Click Update

    - DO NOT CLICK OR SHIFT-CLICK RESTORE: That will wipe the changes OktoPrep made.

    5. Wait forever for your device to update

Step 5: Jailbreak your iPhone with 1.1.2 firmware

    1. Close iTunes

    2. Connect your device to your computer

    3. double click on windows.bat from this zip file

    4. Follow the on screen instructions. also make sure you have the latest java installed else the windows.bat file wont work.

Obviously I didnt write all this, I aint taking credit I just added a few links and tidied it up a wee bit.
    Hope this helps!!!

how far are you getting, can you install appsnapp?

when you install appsnapp the phone should return to the activate screen and then reboot activated....

you dont actually see any progress bar or anything it all happens when the activate screen is on show

what's happening is when it gets to the activation screen, the screen just goes black. As if the power button is pushed

In order to turn it back on again I have to push the power button and I'm back to square 1 :(

    Not a bad guide
    But
Ibrickr is easier to fix the 1015 error not commands just press the reboot option

the Auto- lock should be set to never while you are doing the wifi

And it is handier to download 1.1.2 as well and update from the PC much quicker

Sweeeeet! That hopefully means unlock for otb 1.1.2 soon right? have they changed the bootloader? I suppose Steve Jobs probably didn't announce that part so i doubt you know haha!

Good news tho! Might hold off from getting a iphonesimfreer for a while and see what happens!

Just a reminder DO NOT update to 1.1.3

    Your phone will stop working

Wait till a way to do it safely is released

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,389 ✭✭✭cianclarke

Hackint0sh is slowly returning to normal... Anyway 1.1.3 looks good, pity none of us non-legit folk can use it!
The leaked 1.1.3 features are incredibly simular to that of the final version. From macrumours:

iPhone SDK Release scheduled for February

    New Software today

    Google Maps with Location
Webclips - website bookmarks on your home screen. Clips will remember where you zoomed/panned to, and you are able to create up to 9 of them.
Chapter Options & Language Capability - now available in iPod mode.
    Multiple-Contact SMS

Available today as a free update to all existing iPhone users.

Theres a features video here with apple:
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/gettingstarted/guidedtourupdate2/large.html

Hopefully this new FW release will make it easier for dev team to release a SW unlock, if nothing happens within the next week or so I think I might finally end up buying one of the *sim solutions however.

can anyone please tell me how to get my iphone 1.1.2 out of recovery mode...itunes tried to restore it but just said it could not connect to server even though i am on the internert thanks

I've just bought a iphone home from USA with 1.1.2. I've been tryin to 'jailbreak' it and have gone throu the steps in iphone sim freer but I can only go so far. I've dialled the *#307# and put in the url prefs://1f and jailbreak.com but it doesn't 'pop up' the settings to find my wifi connection. SO I'm stuck there. Can anyone help? I've also ordered a simfreer and am expcting it any day, if I get this do I just cut the top of my vodafone sim and put both back into the phone and it will work with 1.1.2????? I'm confused:confused:

    Hey,

Just to confirm some news the Stealthsim works with 1.1.3 which more than likely works with the rest but i not sure, All i know it works with Stealth Sim.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 65 ✭✭qork

This from the guy from hackthatphonedotcom about 1.1.3:

Yes the baseband is updated it is version 04.03.13_G. If you are foolish enough to update you'll soon find out that the *#307# trick doesn't work anymore. Don't forget the new baseband isn't downgradable. If you screw up and update you can downgrade to 1.1.1 and use all but the phone functions.

It also appears from hackintosh forums that the 1.1.3 firmware locks up phones with TurboSim!

    Q.
