I had that problem i have a Sony Bluetooth Stereo, but it fixed itself lol. I would also recommend a Jabra 125s for yourself its great for a2dp on car stereo's.I also have the same problem with pairing the iphone with headsets so i think its more of a iphone problem. Then again i dont really know i dont really use the "So called bluetooth" on the iphone.

    welcome back dan

any chance you have an answer to this (or any1 else)

in on 1.12, and i have a pioneer bluetooth car stereo, i managed to pair the the devices, but unlike my old sony erricsson the phone isnt recognised automatically when i enter the car, i have to open up the stereo connections and do what called a direct connect each time, this takes about 5 secs each time and i would prefer not to have to do it. any suggestions or solution?

I'm very surprised nobody has mentioned anything about voip on the iphone. With the release of touchmods touch voip program. It doesnt work fully with the iphone with the touch you need to have a external mic in order to use it, now the iphone has one built in but this program is made for a touch, but the makers have released the code in order to help get it working for the iphone, everything works apart from the mic, can make a call hear the other side but hopefully this should be released soon.

Also with regards to the truphone (the first news on voip on the iphone) they should be releasing a beta program soon for testers, I am hoping to be in the program to test the program. I Myself am not a big voip user but when i go to america and the likes i use it as its a hell of alot cheaper.

Anyone know if the O2 shops in the North are still selling Iphones over the counter? No questions, no signatures?

Bought mine the other day, no questions asked - used Southern CC. It was in the O2 shop in Newry (Buttercraine Centre). Was up and back in just under three hours, those new roads are great.

Heya Dan, Was gonna ask about edge actually. Currently i'm using my RTG vodafone card, wondering if there would be any benefit to switching to O2 as i'm presuming, as part of their apparent iphone rollout they will have upgraded their edge network?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,658 ✭✭✭PowerHouseDan

Suppose it depends weather you will use the edge network or not, If you think you will make use of it, I dont use edge myself i am with meteor and costs to much.

I've been reading this thread for awhile, and gathering alot of info before buying an Iphone. I'm getting one from the UK next week, so happy days :)

While i'm posting; I wonder, will the mods allow PHD back at midnight!! :D

cdedru, is there a difference between the US, UK, FR, and DE phones? I thought they we're all the same, but only worked in their specific country?! Or was the iphonesimfreer simply modelled/hacked-together using a US phone (thus only allowing it to be used on an At&t phone)?

Yes an AT&T phone is locked to AT&T a UK one is locked to o2 etc so you can not use a UK o2 card in an AT&T phone without unlocking it first or bypassing it.

The Iphonesimfreer is a little different from stealthsim in that they sell different versions for Europe or the US stealthsim sells one version that does all.

The original iphonesimfreer had issues and they released a new version but so far only for US bought phones.

So if you are getting your phone in the UK i would suggest waiting for a stealthsim, the software unlock, or the new version of the iphonesimfreer for the UK iphone

iphonesimfree worked by patching the bootloader, it should work no matter what phone, but at the same time

There is NO unlock for 1.1.2 software version out of the box phones, this currently includes all european iphones and any US iphone bought from mid november onwards

He was asking about the sim solution from iphonesimfreer.com not about iphonesimfree

If it is a US phone the cheapest solution at the moment is iphonesimfreer.com

make sure you buy the new version total cost including DHL is about €60

Right Lads, I have just set up a new network on my iMac and my iPhone detected it no bother. Everything works bar YouTube (which does work if I use Edge when I go wi-fi). Anybody got any ideas?

Also, does it mean that when I choose my own network from the iMac to surf the net using the iPhone around the house that I will not incur any costs, as opposed to using Edge, which I'm told is very expensive?

    Thanks.

Install the services app from the installer it will give you a short cut to turn on or off
    Bluetooth ,Edge, SSH, and Wifi

That way you can turn off your edge to ensure you don't go to it accidentally when your wifi is out of range or drops out

Nothing to do with Stealths as it doesnt bother me but i think iphonesimfreer are a joke, Why the hell would you send x sim hacks without testing them i am added to the mailing list and its nothing but complaints, Yes they have good reports with us phones but still sending it, We were going to order them and they actually asked us to send a uk o2 sim card to program them yet they still had them for sale. You pay for what you get with them. The Best Solution available is the Turbo sim but they cannot be got.I also see **** is now selling unlocking sims for 129Euro! Calling them turbo's sim, i emailed questioning them they are not turbo sims at all they are just using the name as he said "There is no copyright law with using the name" False advertising if ya ask me.

As i said I would not use them for UK iphones

But for a US bought iphone the new version of iphonesimfreer works absolutely perfectly and is by far the cheapest option available.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,658 ✭✭✭PowerHouseDan

Yeah but a company thats sends out the first one without testing it,I no i wouldnt be buying off them for that reason alone. Yeah fair enough the new one works NOW.But leaving everyone who ordered the first one with nothing without even testing it proper is not on for a business.

I ordered two of these cards from iphonesimfreer before Christmas after seeing the link in this forum. Then Dan said they wouldn't work even though I ordered the ones that were specified to work with the UK iPhone. The next day they reported the same thing on their site.

I emailed them to ask if I was getting an updated one for the UK as there was no sign of it. The contact going by the name "bonjovi" asked a few questions and then issued a prompt refund. In the end I got no unlock but they were quick to respond and although they struggle with English they were still helpful. If you have a US iPhone 1.1.2 OTB and these work as reported I don't see any reason not to use them.

The worse thing about all of the x sim cards is apart from the turbo sim it cant be updated. No one knows weather a turbo/stealth etc will work with the 1.1.3 sim, Cant test it either because cant jailbreak it at the moment.

I got one of the new version US ones yesterday and tried it successfully on

o2 and vodafone and it worked perfectly on both

I agree there is no reason not to buy the new version for US iphones it works it is cheaper and they have them in stock.

True Dan but anyone buying any of the sim solutions should go in with their eyes open you will get an working 1.1.2 iphone and that is as much as anyone can guarantee.

Cdebru correct me if i am wrong but are you refering to a certain company because you keep mentioning IN STOCK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,658 ✭✭✭PowerHouseDan

For everyone awaiting an unlock for their 1.1.2 OTB, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you DON'T UPDATE to 1.1.3 once it is out. If you do, you will be literally f**ked because it means you will need to wait for 1.1.4 (or whatever version its gonna be) to attempt any unlock.

This info is not new but with the release of 1.1.3 being very soon, I would like to remind everyone to take extra caution.

    As posted on Hackintosh.

Fingers crossed that stealthsim will withstand the update but it seems apple are doing everything possible to deter any type of unlocking....

Bladox do not have the turbosim IN STOCK

Your company and Iphonehellas so not have any stealthsims IN STOCK

that is why i said they have them in stock

1.1.3 Will most likely lock all x sim cards, why wouldnt it, its easy to do. and it will stop people.Saying that i dont see it being hard to produce a new one unless apple put extra security on it.

If one updated to 1.1.3 by accident, would it not be possible to virginise the iPhone as with older versions and then restore back to 1.1.2?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,658 ✭✭✭PowerHouseDan

Apparently not, I dont have very much information at the moment.

No as you would have updated your baseband and on bootloader 4.6 you can only go up in baseband so your baseband would be stuck on whatever version comes with 1.1.3

You maybe able to get the phone back to 1.1.2 but not the baseband and that is the part that needs to be unlocked it is the same with 1.1.2 you can go back to 1.1.1 but your baseband stays at the 1.1.2 version

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,658 ✭✭✭PowerHouseDan

As i have said apple have done a really good job with this firmware and with the opensource any sim it has not helped it at all. Apple now how to counter act.
