This is ridiculous. I got this message today and I've won an item on ebay and expected this money to go through. Now they are saying:
At the moment, your Wirecard account is an e-money product which means that it
is not eligible for receiving wire transfers from third parties and that we –
as a German bank - are obliged to return any wire transfers which have not
been carried out by the Wirecard account holder to the sender.

However, your Wirecard account can be converted into a full account after we
have carried out proper identification. Therefore please find attached the
application form for a Wirecard account.

I've transferred money into using this method with no problems in the past. Why is it a problem now and if something changed, why weren't customers notified? They have my email address.

I don't want a wirecard with them, I want a virtual credit card. That's the only reason I signed up in the first place was that I wouldn't have to create a full account with them because of all this hassle.

I used it only a couple of months ago with no problems and I have an email from them saying the method I use to deposit money with them is fine. It doesn't mention a limit or proving identity at all. The EU law thing makes no sense. Surely if that was the case then it should have always been like that and I should never have been able to use the account without verifying.
A: As soon as a limit amount for deposits in your Wirecard account is exceeded there is a legal requirement to have full identification of the account holder. You will be informed about such a limit by Wirecard Bank when you open your account or pay money into it.
You can increase the deposit limit of your Wirecard account at any time. To do this, you need to pay money into your Wirecard account via direct debit (ACH) from your bank account at another bank. In addition, print out the documents for opening an online account, sign them and send them to the Wirecard Bank via postal mail.
It is also possible to have all deposit restrictions on your account waived once your identification documents have been examined at a Deutsche Post retail outlet (Postident) or in a German Embassy or Consulate (outside of Germany).

No notification was given to me at any time about limits, me approaching limits. I've never received communication from them using the word limit. They now want to know my identity. This is ridiculous. No way in hell am I giving them any of my details. I'd rather shut my account.

Oh and for a company so obsessed with security, their security certificate does not match their hostname according to Opera.

I received the same eMail from them today brim4brim. It's the second time they've delayed me in using my lodged money. The first time they claimed I had exceeded my transfer limit. I replied that I had transfered exactly the same amount on **/**/2007, using exactly the same transfer method. They replied that they looked at my case again... and found that I had not exceeded my limit.

I'm waiting for a reply from them regarding todays nonsense now.

I sent them an email about it telling them I wanted it to go through and that I had used this method before.

I also told them that I got this method of applying from this same email address and gave them the ticket number for my last request.

I've not gotten a response from them yet. They better be prompt, it is my money and I don't expect to be robbed for using their service as its enough money that'd be annoyed about loosing it and like all banks, I can't see them getting it back to me promptly.

I'll have to ring my father and use his credit card now to make the payment as the seller on the ebay bid I won.

What a joke of a company.

You can forget about a prompt reply. You may be lucky to get one at all. Since I transferred €200 on October 1st I've had 3 emails:

    1) The "third party" send us your details one
    2) A send us a receipt if you say it is your account one
    3) The "third party" send us your details one AGAIN

It's been 24 days now and the money is still MIA. If it isn't in my AIB account by tomorrow morning I'll have to ring them and see if they can figure out where the hell it is.

Out of (increasingly pointless) curiosity, did you transfer to BOI or direct with IBAN?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,012 ✭✭✭✭thebman

Mine was a bank transfer from my AIB account which I've used twice before to transfer money with no problems other than it taking at least 5 working days for the transfer to go through.

They confirmed that they had recieved the amount though so at least I have that from them in an email but I'll keep hastling them until I get my money back or the transfer goes through. If it has not gone through by the time I pay for my item on ebay, I'll demand that it goes back to my AIB account as they are refusing to transfer it to my wirecard account.

My guess is they were previously in breech of EU law for not collecting the data in the top post on this page but weren't aware of it and are now trying to cover their trails or something like that but don't want to contact their customers to try to save face.

First thing they should have done is tell their customers they were going to look for this data from now on.

Using online banking I transfered to their local BOI account from my BOI account.

In my eMail I had to ask if I should expect to be hassled to open a full account (sending forms and ID) every time I wish to lodge money to my Wirecard account.

fiver i sent on monday night by iban got there today. no sign of my other fifty being returned though.

you're going to have to verify to get that fifty back jack.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 83 ✭✭Protocol7

He won't have to verify to get the money back. It will just be sent back to the "third party" that sent it. In other words: himself.

I heard back from Wirecard yesterday and they've confirmed that changes have been made to the way the accounts operate:
Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay and confusion.

We would like to inform you that new procedures for identification of Wirecard account holders have been implemented recently and we need to receive the documents in order to process bank wire from a third party or one that is recognized as so, even if they had been processed before without receiving the identification documents.

They also said that money sent to local accounts would almost certainly show up as from a third party, so we can forget about using the BOI account anymore.
We would like to inform you that it is unfortunately very likely that from now on every time you make wire transfer to our local bank account in Ireland it will be recognized as wire transfer by a third party.

I've asked for confirmation that this won't happen with IBAN transfers, but jackbauer's one seems to have gone through without a hitch.

very nice of them to inform everyone of this change wasn't it? ...oh wait was probably in one of those micro font size faq's hidden on the website.

so are IBAN transfers working without verification or do i have to verify now? I haven't tried to send anything to the local BOI account since people started having problems

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 83 ✭✭Protocol7

They should work ok, but there's no guarantees. I haven't tried one yet cos I'm still waiting to get my money back.

    04163 Leipzig, Germany.??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 685 ✭✭✭jackbauer

i used the postfach blah blah address. i dont think that part really matters as long as i th iban and bic are correct. I also put my wirecard account number and registered phone number in the comments field and put wire transfer in the reason for payment. I recommend you send a fiver as a test. I transfered on a tuesday evening was there on friday.

Made a wire transfer with AIB on the 22nd, it said on the online banking it would be valued on the 23rd, which I think it means it should show up in the recipients account? It was MORE than the €300 I thought was the limit, a bit more actually and I still haven't got it:mad:

I emailed and was told to wait that it usually takes 3 working days, emailed back, no reply... so I just sent them this:

I thought I heard the captain say
    Pay me my money down
    Tomorrow is our sailing day
    Pay me my money down

    Pay me, pay me
    Pay me my money down
Pay me or go to jail
    Pay me my money down

As soon as the boat was clear of the bar
    Pay me my money down
He knocked me down with the end of a spar
    Pay me my money down

    Pay me, pay me
    Pay me my money down
Pay me or go to jail
    Pay me my money down

Well, If I'd been a rich man's son
    Pay me my money down
I'd sit on the river and watch it run
    Pay me my money down

    Pay me, pay me
    Pay me my money down
Pay me or go to jail
    Pay me my money down

Well I wish I was Mr. Gates
    Pay me my money down
Carry all that money in 'em crates.
    Pay me my money down

    Pay me, pay me
    Pay me my money down
Pay me or go to jail
    Pay me my money down

Well, forty nights, and nights at sea
    Pay me my money down
That captain worked every last dollar outta me.
    Pay me my money down

    Pay me, pay me
    Pay me my money down
Pay me or go to jail
    Pay me my money down

:D Although it works better when you're at a concert and there's a few thousand people singing it!

Lodged 850 euro via AIB Online Bank Transfer last Saturday night.. still hasn't appeared!

Should probably e-mail and sort out validation. What exactly needs to be done?

    You need to send them

    a) Two utility bills
    b) Fill out a simple form with your name and details
    c) a photocopy of your (valid) passport which has been verified (for example signed and stamped by a lawyer).

Its very simple and a lot less complicated than it looks. All the details are in pdf's that were posted in the this a few pages back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,603 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Seems like far too much hassle... a lawyer, you joking me?!

What do you think are the chances of them sending me back my €850 (minus their €1 fee!)? :D

You broke the golden rule, never send over €300 in a week.

Do the bills have to be originals?

I sent originals, a bank statement, and a credit union statement (with the account numbers and other important stuff blacked out). Both had my address on them which is what they are looking for.

Have sent them an e-mail saying:
    Dear Sir / Madam,

I lodged €850 into my Wirecard last weekend via wire transfer and noticed it still wasn't processed and in my 'Wirecard' account. I now realise that my identity needs to be validated but the validation process is far too much hassle and time-consuming for me. I'm very busy in work in the near future and don't have time to be rushing around getting forms and documents signed etc.

Is there any chance that you can lodge the €850 i transferred back in my bank account which it was transferred from? My username is ''xxxxxxx' and i can confirm any bank details. But the bank account i used to transfer the money is the account i would like the money to be transferred back into.

I understand if you take the €1 fee which is a processing fee.

I hope you can help me out.

    Please reply to me ASAP.

    Regards,

    basquille
Doubt it'll do much good but worth a shot!

That's my problem too, I transferred €800 with AIB.

Bond, you don't need to be verified for anything over €300, only if it's a credit card. Your weekly limit with wire transfer is €2,500. This is what I understood. I emailed them asking where my money was and mentioned how much I sent and was just told to wait a few days, nothing about me having to verify the account.

    Edit:
OMG!!! I just checked my wirecard account and there it is, €799:D I checked last night and it wasn't there, strange, didn't think it would have been deposited after hours. Whooo. So yeah, the €300 must only apply to credit card (I still haven't verified my account, too much hassle :p). But Basq, you'll be waiting! I made the transfer from AIB on the 22nd, AIB said the value date would be the 23rd. It's now the 3rd, Wirecard said they usually take 3 business days.
