Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. So guys, today i added up how much debt i'm currently in..... and it depressed me! lol But to make me feel slightly better about myself i thought i'd come on here and see how i compare!!! so above is a poll to see how much ya owe out..... kinda just a rough figure but dont including anything massive like your mortgage.

So Phone, Medical, and Credit Card Bills. Personal loans, cars, money owed to people.

    Hit me :D

I'm just gone twenty and own about 7,000 :D

I'm just gone twenty and own about 7,000 :D
I wish I owned seven grand tbh.

I owe two and ahalf grand on my CC, and another three grand to the bank for a loan.

    No mortgage.

    No car.

    No kids.

Can anyone offer some financial advise to be though? On how to eradicate my debt?

€0. Hope that makes you feel better.

Not including mortgage which is feck all. About $100 on the credit card, thats it. Luckily it only has a $500 limit otherwise I'd be in trouble. My Paypal is linked to my bank account and that gets used often enough as well. :(

I probably have a hundred or so on the credit card but once the bill comes in that'll be paid so I don't really count that. Apart from that, my brother owes me €20 and my friend owes me €30 so I'm in the black.

I owe about €8,000, in a loan and some on my Credit Card, but I'm paying a good bit off every month. Should be debt free within a year or so. The thing is, you're always going to be in a little bit of debt. Once you pay off your loans you get a mortgage and then you're in debt for life. I just make sure I pay some off every month, so it's reducing all the time, or else i wake up at night in a cold sweat.

I have to pay off €1.98 on my credit card, does that count?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,683 ✭✭✭✭Owen

Thankfully, no debt at all. I cleared everything in the last year, both credit cards are empty (Although, one always was), and my bikes have been cleared too. I'm about to hop on the merry-go-round with a car again soon though!

    €300euro to O2

    in debt just about €20,000

    car loan 5,000
    credit union loan 11,000
    credit card 4,500

i'm thinking of getting a loan to cover all. never get a credit union loan again forever paying it...

very hard to get them clear, think i might go for one loan for all any suggestions

about 1800 quid to the BOI if you count the interest on the rest of the term.

Car insurance and tax paid till this time next year = about 1700 quid value I won't be paying monthly till then, so about 100 quid when one cancels the other.

Equity wise I have 8 grand of car deprecating on me, music and DJing hardware worth just shy of 10k, and a few grand in varying bank accounts.

    i owe...

    €467,000 <- mortage.
    €110 <- credit card.
    €50 <- brother.

    i own atm...

    €700 <- current account

    :D

About €3k on the auld mastercard, and about €144k on the mortgage.

Don't owe anything on the car, nothing on finance, have an overdraft but not using it, and have enough to clear the credit card.

So, basically, just the mortgage, which means I also have decent equity. Have a car and some decent camera equipment, all paid for.

    And I'm 31.

To eradicate debt; if you have several loans, try to consolidate them through whoever is charging you the lowest interest.

    ie; loan 1 = 1000 repaying 100 per month with 12 months left = 1200
    loan 2 = 2500 repaying 150 per month with 20 months left = 3000
    loan 3 = 4000 repaying 250 per month with 18 months left = 4500

    total = 7500 , paying 500 per month, total 8700

    Consolidated, 7500 repaying 450 per month over 18 months = 8100
Leaving payments at 500 per month over 16 months = 8000

The above is just to give you a very rough idea of what you could do; shop around with the banks/credit unions for solid figures.

Im not in any debt at all, well barring the usual monthly bills for rent, sky, internet, phone, gas, elec, health insurance. Should be buying a car shortly so i'll be in debt then i suppose, but until then im debt free..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,903 ✭✭✭Joeface

    No loans
    No Credit Card over draw
    No Mortgage
    10k in the bank

had come form debts of about 16k to been +10 and then bought a house and then wrote of me car

Waiting 'til your parents die to inherit a house is not cool.

Desf: Get a loan to payoff the credit card and then bin the CC, the repayments will be cheaper.

I owe €1100 on my credit card, but I have about €3K disposable cash, ~€500 owed to me from a pension refund, about €150 personal debts so I'm not in bad position.

I talked to Mike at Picture. Now instead of paying 1000 a month for 5 years, I'm paying 500 a month until Dublin is on the West coast of Ireland. They're wonderful people.
