Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I shall be at MCR. And at The Who in Marley Park. And The Rolling Stones at Slane. And (hopefully) AC/DC in Slane.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,295 ✭✭✭Acid_Violet

Might be at Who-Marlay gig, tickets for that and Rolling Stones Slane are VERY expensive though.

Eep, what're you doing for ID?

Anyone else heard that radio ad about the gig? Sounds like they're gonna be pretty strict.

How many years now has it been rumoured that ACDC will be playing Slane?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 133 ✭✭Madeleine

One that I know of... Anyhoo, there's a reason i said "hopefully"

  • Registered Users Posts: 448 ✭✭Jack Lynch

ACDC have been rumoured every year for Slane since like 2003 I think.

Nine Inch Nails at Marlay Park. :D

Never have figured you for a NIN fan.

    Ya big goth freak...

I have no time for Reznor personally but he makes some damn good music.

Shur aren't I the biggest grunger in Carlow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,858 ✭✭✭Undergod

There are so many valid reasons in that sentence for me to beat you alive.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭carlowboy

    Dissing Reznor? ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,858 ✭✭✭Undergod

    Chiefly, yes.

NIN aren't grunger music as I _know_ you are aware.

    Also, inter-school rivalry.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭carlowboy

Ah I know but "grunger" is a term used around Carlow. You going?

Not as fun as you might think. Stabbings galore.

Yeah, I hope I can go if I can get tickets. I would love to see NIN.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭carlowboy

And Foo Fighters. Don't forget Foo Fighters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Foo Fighters are perfectly forgettable. It's disgusting that Nine Inch Nails are a support act to them.

Wouldn't you think each to their own?

Not even a little bit. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,858 ✭✭✭Undergod

Not too pushed on Foo Fighters really, they're okay.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭carlowboy

Well he was telling everyone.

Chat should be kept to PM's. By the way, does this thread adhere at all to the no MCD discussion policy? I wouldn't think so. Might be a good idea to do so, or it'll get deleted, and there'll be some bannings I should think. Of course, then it serves no real purpose, as Aiken and DME just aren't putting on enough shows. Dilemma...

The whole thread should be deleted on that basis so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Or, and here's a wild and wacky suggestion, we could discuss up-coming gigs and festivals that aren't MDC-related.

    So, Hellfest eh? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,858 ✭✭✭Undergod

    Hellfest \o/!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Also, anyone else going to Napalm Death in August? One of the support bands has some members who used to go to my school, pretty damn good too, if you're into old-skool death, hint of grind. Napalm Death are going to tear down the Voodoo Lounge though. :)

electric Picnic is also a non-MCD. I heart electric picnic...

*wanders away, back to work but in reality off to a land of sunburn, and tents and music..oh and rain*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,858 ✭✭✭Undergod

    It has the _CIRCUS_!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,024 ✭✭✭Awayindahils

It also has the Lost Vagueness and the best food ever. (well at a outdoor music event at least, that i've been to)

Oh and the inflatable church with the 80s disco.

Which is no mean feat considering its competition.

The food in Wacken last year was divine, better than most meals I get at home, including those I cook myself, and I'm a damn good cook.

    In Ireland then....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

I think I'd almost rather starve than pay the prices charged at Irish gigs and festivals for food. Just out of principle like! For instance, in Wacken last year, you got the most almighty kebabs, for €4! They were massive. Also, didn't want salad? They threw in extra chunks of meat for free! That's bleedin' service!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭carlowboy

Packed lunches are the only way to go for certain irish festivals. Just because a breakfast roll is €7 doesn't mean its nice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Any €7 breakfast roll I pay for is going to have gold-plated sausages and diamond-encrusted rashers. End of.

And then you won't be eating anything but shards of your own teeth.

    Crackers and jam and cider.

    You can live for days.

    This still applies:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054978113

Read it, carefully. No discussion of an MCD event in any way, shape or form.

    Aiken are better anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Hush you, DME are where it's at. And Pod will get my love if they give me a free ticket to Regina Spektor.

  • Registered Users Posts: 448 ✭✭Jack Lynch

When DME bring Bob Dylan to Cork, then they can be 'where it's at'.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

The only place I can see DME bringing Bob Dylan is out the back, to be shot. :p Nothing against him at all, just not someone DME are going to book. They have been responsible for some stonking good shows though.
