    Yeah but he's currently on the island. We saw him in 3x13, Ben told him to get the "man from Tallahassee" and he released Locke at the end.

    Ahh okay. Point taken. I forgot that there wasn't much of a time-gap between the feed Juliette saw and when that happened.

    And yet "Henry Gale" clearly worked for someone else.

    Im pretty sure one of the podcasts have said we havent seen Jacob yet. The "who is Jacob?" is to this season what "whats in the hatch?" was to Season one and "what happens when the clock reaches zero?" was to Season two ;)

    PS: Oh and I voted Hurley btw.

    PPS: it was confirmed on the podcast that
    Christian is dead

    Anyone else think Jacob might be Claires boyfriend? It's likely hes on the island since we saw his drawings in the hatch?

    It was also revealed in this week's podcast that the paintings we've seen in the hatch, Claire's flat and Widmore's office
    are all the work of Jack Bender, who works on the show in Hawai'i, hence similar artistic style between pieces

    I really doubt that. That was just her flashback. I would not pay much attention to the fact he painted something like the ones seen in the hatch.

    Actually I just read there they (writers or whatever) say Desmond was the one who drew the paintings. I'd say thats just a quick cover up because they don't plan on using Claires boyfriend again!

    The press release is out for the episode in which "the mysterious jacob is revealed", but there is no actors name credited... Is Jacob a thing?

    Its to be revealed in (warning more than one spolier ahead)
    episode 19, i.e. next week in Ben's flashback which is, strangely enough, titled "The Man Behind the Curtain"

    Im a sucker for mild spoilers this season so here's more on that same episode
    Ben begrudgingly begins to introduce Locke to the secrets of the island, beginning with the mysterious Jacob. Meanwhile, Juliet's secret goes public. Guest starring are M.C. Gainey as Mr. Friendly/Tom, Tania Raymonde as Alex, Andrew Divoff as Mikhail, Nestor Carbonell as Richard Alpert, Marsha Thomason as Naomi, Sterling Beaumon as young Ben, Jon Gries as Roger Linus, Carrie Preston as Emily, Doug Hutchison as Horace, Samantha Mathis as Olivia and Madeline Carroll as Annie. the names of people and places do crop up in the Bible and in philosiphy

    They also crop up in the phonetic alphabet:

    C = Charlie
    E = Echo (yes I know it was spelled Eko in the show) :rolleyes:
    J = Juliet
    M = Mike

    Other things related to the show
    G = Golf (there was an early early episode where they played golf)
    K = Kilos and kilos of drugs (Eko and Charlie, and whatever Desmond smokes that cause his visions)
    W = Whiskey (McCutcheon 60 please!)
    X = Xray (namely Ben's)
    Y = Yankee (plenty of them)
    Z = Zulu (mystery four-toed foot?)

    Do you think the show is going to end up having anything to do with this? I certainly don't. Nor will it have anything to do with religion or philosophy, that's just the writers way of including their favourite bits of pop culture and the faith theme

    Has anybody suggested Marvin Candle/Mark Wickmund yet?
    Judging by the early 1980s copyrighting on the DHARMA Initiative Orientation videos, he was in his mid 40 then so he's probably a wise old Oriental dude in his 60s now, and could quite possibly turn out to be a high-up figure in the DHARMA/Others group (which I believe will turn out to be one entity!)

    Yeah people have mentioned him as Jacob but it really is hard to know.

    I don't mean to be smart, logik, but isn't that the whole purpose of this thread, to speculate as to who Jacob might be?

    Nah your not being smart, your right, was a stupidly put on my behalf. What i meant was, we have only seen ever seen him in the video's left in the hatches and nothing more. Its just i still think that we have never seen the supposed Jacob. And maybe we never will.

    I think
    next week, episode 19 is The Brig, a Locke flashback, and episode 20 is the ben one

    Also,
    I wonder who Roger Linus is? if it's Ben's dad, that rules out the whole Jacob thing (although not really I suppose, could just be an alias),
    anyway lookin forward to that one!

    Roger Linus seems to be the skeleton Hurley and that shower found in the van. I seem to recall him name was Roger.

    Just to be safe, I'm gonna spoiler this whole thing
    That's quite interesting, forgot about that.
    Although Roger was obviously Dharma, so if the above is true, then there is obviously a strong connection between Dharma and the Others.

    People have also theorized that Roger (the skeleton) was in the Swan with Radzinsky, as his uniform had a Swan station logo on it.

    Can't wait to see how it all pans out

    Spoilering this also:
    You must remember that Mikhail was wearing a Dharma uniform also when the Losties found him. We know he is not Dharma so there is no guarantee that Roger was Dharma, he may have just been wearing the uniform like Mikhail.

    Anyone else think Jacob could (only a very slight possibility) be Smokey?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Kanney

    Smokey, that would be weird

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

    Or Jacob could be whatever controls Smokey...?

    making jacob is the name of the island. and isn't linus ben's last name? wouldn't that make roger his brother/father/illegitimate son?

    the title for this weeks episode
    "the man behind the curtain"
    seems to indicate a reference to the
    wizard of oz, i.e. a hoax invented to keep the people fearful of a powerful being that doesn't exist, instead it is just a simple man hiding behind a curtain using tricks to fool people.
    My gut is telling me that jacob
    doesn't exist, or did exist at one time but died, and Ben is keeping up the charade for fear that people would start to leave the island. IMO, Jacob doesn't exist
    , but the premise
    of his existence is purely kept going by Ben,
    who is the proverbial
    "man behind the curtain"

    It is possible but i don't think Jacob directly impacts the island "physically i mean". I think he uses ben to portray himself and does so from the real world.
