It could get delayed a bit longer than it did last year since they're taking that long break in the US. If it started in January it would leave Ireland only about 6 or 7 episodes behind and they might prefer itfurther behind (god knows why). Having said that, RTE usually pick up new shows and new seasons at the start of the year, so with all considered I'd imagine that January is the most likey date ;)

i thought it was january, ireland ran only 3 or 4 weeks behind the u.s at some points last series.
the reason i said i thought it was january is because im sure i saw an ad in the rte giude or heard it from someone.
actually does anyone remember the last episode of series 2 on rte 2, at the end the voice over said 'if your wondering when your next fix of lost will be then tune in next january to find out'
what i do know for sure is that we will be the first country in europe to show it:D

Rick O'Shea on 2fm the other night asked would it be worth tuning in at the end of October to the 3rd series as he hasn't seen the first 2.

Now he could have pulled a date out of his hole, or he could have let it slip by accident.

I heard Rick saying that it would be on October/November time too, and I think he was with RTE 2's production team or something during the phone calls. So I emailed him to confirm it and he got back to me saying "All true apparently".

So I'm going with that. :)

Jauary seems likely to me. If the show the first 6 episodes in January to mid febuary then they should hopefully only be a week behind ABC when the seaond half of season 3 returns in mid Febuary and this might persuade downloaders realise its barely worth their while.

I don't think the show will be shown at least before it gets back on track with the second session of the new series in the US. RTE will never want that massive break (and thus bomb the schedules with Lost repeats) so that puts the show out til at least January.

And it seems unlikely RTE will ever be that close to ABC's airings. 3 - 4 weeks is plausible but a week behind is very doubtful. So i'm betting February.

todays irish mail on sunday tv guide said the 3rd series starts on rte 2 next month, which is probably right, as im due to go away for a week,so no doubt it will be the week i go!!

I guess Rick was right then, excellent. I guess there will be a small wait for the "mini-series" is only 6 episodes long.

Little Lost is better than no Lost.

Yeah we get it. A majority of people prefer watching TV shows on their TV.

That's great news. But, how reliable is the info as the e-mail I got back from RTE vague to say the least.

Well, The Panel returned for a fourteen week run last night in Lost's usual timeslot so that may be an indication of when S3 is due to start. Of course, they can always air it at a different time or on a different night ;)

Didn't the first series used to be on at 9 o'clock though, which was a better time for it to be honest. And all that's in that time slot is repeats of naked camera and the ex-files which I doubt gets a very long series.

So hopefully, by the end of next month, both these will be finished and we'll have Lost to watch before the 'verging-on-racism' Panel team comes on.

To be fair, I'd say the majority of those who don't watch Lost via traditional 'broadcast' means still watch it on an actual TV. At least, all those I know certainly do. DivX DVD players, Xbox Mods and PCs/laptops with TV Out make this as enjoyable an experience.

As for the likely RTE scheduling of season three, unless they are *completely insane*, this will be at least a week before Sky One's launch. If they leave it until January or February, they can kiss goodbye to the ratings of the past two years. This show is all about the immediacy - the ability to discern plot developments at the earliest opportunity (which means beyond reading them in advance for most of us) - and for that reason, the broadcaster who launches first in this case will win.

I suspect RTE will become wise to this if they haven't already. Expect Lost in November, at least as early, if not earlier than Sky One. If not, expect far fewer viewers tuning in come 2007.

(Sidenote: For what its worth, I don't think Sky One did '24' fans any favours by acquiring it - wonky ad placements within the show, some edits and the loss of the 'Pure 24' fan series on BBC3. I doubt that Lost's move to Sky One will necessarily be better than having the show played out in the way it was - relatively neatly on C4 and E4.)
