ITs pretty impressive for RTE to be the first country outside the US and Canada to have shown the new series.

Well almost, Sweeden start airing the new season on the 25th of this month. But still I agree, it is very impressive, RTE had no choice but to push forward the airdate with Sky's acquisition of the new season.

I don't think so. This probably isn't the right place to do a survey, but I'd bet the majority of those watching Lost from ABC - or non-broadcast TV generally are doing so on one of:
    1) A PC/laptop connected to a TV via TV Out
    2) A Divx DVD player
    3) A modified Xbox with DivX capable XBMC

i have a divx dvd player, but freezes on avi, so have to convert it to dvd first, takes an extra hour and a half, but at least i can watch it on the 50"... :D ....... i know, off topic......

A small caveat in that the first RTE episode will be the catch up episode narrated by Michael Emerson.

Your Divx player should definitley be able to play AVI - see if there's a firmware upgrade for it. You shouldn't have to make a DVD (i.e. VOB) version of the AVI - it should play as it is...

If they show the catch-up as the first, but don't then follow it by the first episode proper, (i.e. 9-11pm), people are going to be furious! They might as well say it *actually* starts on November 7the on the promos now, so people aren't disappointed.

The catch-up "Lost: The Tale of Survival" will be shown on Monday 30th October on RTE 2 at 9.30 pm. Epsiode One of season 3 is on Tuesday 31st at 10PM

That's weird. The US catch-up was 45 mins long, so this must be a cut-down version or a brand new one. I saw Michael Emerson's name mentioned - he didn't do the one I saw at the start of season three, so it may be an additionally produced piece (still by ABC, but for international sales.)

I think you misread SoSueMe's post, the catch-up episode and then the proper episode one are on two different days (Monday and Tuesday next week), not following each other at 9.30pm and 10pm on the same day.

Has anyone read the article in next weeks rte guide? There's a few sentences about each of the main characters. The bit for "Henry Gale" contains either a typo or a
"why did Henry choose Jake, Kate & Sarah" - shouldn't it have said Sawyer or is this a spoiler?
    only time will tell....

You're right, I did misread it. Seems they're likely the same catch-up after all.

Seabee - think that's likely a typo. The names are very similar, but there's no reason from the early episodes for it not to be meant to be Sawyer.

NB: Lost Series-3 breaks on 17th December 06 and resumes again on 11th February 07. This is due to US ABC Network current scheduling commitment.

If the above return date (Sunday, 11.02.07) for Sky is true, that's going to be pretty impressive, as the show will only return to ABC on the previous Wednesday (07.02.07). It will be hard for RTÉ to compete with that!

Since Sky are showing it 4 days afeter the US. The best time for RTE to air Lost would be a Thursday or even Sunday against Sky One's airing if they want to avoid loosing ratings. Jericho airs in Australia within 34 hours of the US airing.

I don't think they're repeating it, i've searched a tv listings website and it doesn't mention it....

No one will be complaining their adverts give too much away since they get them straight from the US and the straight to us :)

Last year RTE repeated Lost on Fridays at 7, Fridays at 11 and final on Sundays at 11. Around 7 or 11 this is RTE after all.

No sign on repeats this year. Perhaps they spent too much on aquiring first showings and opted not to buy repeat showings.

That's possible but other possible reasons could be it wasn't performing ratings wise on an evening timeslot or it was taking away viewers from the first run episode. However, I have a strong feeling that they will rerun the first 6 episodes possibly in a marathon in January/Febuary before the vew series starts after the 7th.

Like Rodge and Podge the repeat had around 150,000 viewers for it, I would be surprised by a marathon of LOST on RTE, or a marathon of any show on RTE.

Are you still surprised RTE are doing a marathon of the first 6 episodes on the 23rd November?

What the 23rd of November? Now I am lost?

    Assuming you mean December :)

Yeah wouldn't this be better scheduled for Jan a week or two before the final 13, like you suggested.

Now if only they would do a marathon of a far better show :) that we won't mention because THEY SHOW IT AT 11:30 AT NIGHT. :D

Anyway those first six episode told us nothing, I think I will switch off soon, but I am afraid to press the button.
