Apparently, it is only wrong to watch porn in a net cafe if it is against the policy of the cafe. I was talking to a net cafe owner bfore who talked about how he discovered a customer watching child porn. He kept quiet, rang the police, and they nabbed him. Bugger (who has a wife and kids) got off free for the simple reason that he never saved any of the child porn to any media, therefore the police could do nothing. Pathetic, really

Don't see how it could (or should) be illegal to look at something.

you do realise that the children involved have already been abused and left traumatised? so whether it is new or old is not an issue as far as child porn is concerned.
anyone even contemplating looking at child porn deserves to have their eyes poked out.

Yea, but you could argue that the cache is created without any deliberate action by yourself. If illegal porn was found in a cache anyone could argue that you clicked a link and a whole bunch of porn sites/ads just popped up, thus causing the images to appear in the cache.

Different matter if u save images to your pics folder. Deliberate action there so no defence. Hence the law that you can't be charged for just viewing kiddie porn on PC. Which isn't right tbh.

Had a similar experience when travelling through Norway. Was in a tourist office in a small town. The office was small with just a counter and PC beside the door that anyone behind the counter can clearly see. There was a 30-something guy (probably a regular) in a suit in there during lunch browsing his email and opening gay porn, he even zoomed in on the pics. The girl behind the counter said nothing, couldn't believe it :eek:

In a net cafe in Galway last year a guy sat down next to me and proceeded to go through a Galway Escorts website. He had a piece of paper with him and was taking down the names and numbers of the girls he liked best.

The pictures weren't pornographic but it really isn't the sort of thing you expect someone to be doing in public.

A few days ago my girlfriend was in a net cafe on the quays. A auld fella sits down beside her, taps her on the arm and says "You don't mind if I look at one of my crazy films?!"
Her not paying attention says no I don't (she says she thought it'd be frankenstein or something), a few minutes later says to her with a filthy smile "I'm not disturbing you am I?" pointing to the screen. She looks at his screen and he's watching hardcore porn. lol

I think most of these people get off on the cafe being a public place

This is the precise reason that I installed a logging proxy in my cafe. We had a guy who regularly came in looking at boys in shorts and swimsuits - nothing actually incriminating, but it's a bit dodgy to see a grown man looking at pictures of little boys in swimming togs all night. So I kept an eye on him and caught him downloading kiddy porn (images and video) from kazaa. I called the police and they explained that there was nothing they could do without evidence. I kept an eye on him for a few weeks after that until one time he forgot to delete his crap after him. This was enough to get him investigated, but even after raiding his house (which must surely have had dodgy stuff in it, as he always burnt his downloads to CD when he left) and taking our computer for analysis, he wasn't charged.

To add insult to injury, I caught the cheeky bastard in one of the other branches a few months later. Unfortunately, there were too many people in the cafe at the time to bring him out the back and break his joints.

I'm not one of those girls that would be made uncomfortable by a guy watching hardcore porn next to me (provided he minds his own business) but writhing around in the seat? That's just rank!
