...aka, The One Everyone Was Looking Forward To But Will Flame To Hell Regardless. This is the final BSG episode until 2005, when Sky will show episode 11. So after this, the board will be hibernating until the end of October when season 2 starts on Sky.

The only bad thing about this episode is we have to wait till next year for the second part :( Very high drama episode with fantastic acting from all. Cain/Adama scenes were great and the build up to the confrintation was very well done.

The Pegasus look awesome but could of done with more screen time and that new ship seems very interesting :)

Good episode but rated it Okay because the music in the first 10 minutes pissed me off. It was just totally wrong, utterly cheesy.

Nice cliffhanger at the end, sucks having to wait so long for part 2 :(

I'm going to go with Amazing on this one. The whole build up was great but I had kind of forgotton about this being a two parter and to end where it did I just screamed "B@STERD" at the telly. That Admiral is some piece of work, I wonder if she's a Cylon? That was my first thought about her anyway, she seems rather cold. Do you reckon it was true what the XO said about her shooting the previous XO. I know Tigh thought it was true anyway.

What are we to do till Januwary now?

What's the story with the timeing here for the next episode? are Sky going to get it before the US, after they show the first 10? Seem's strange that they would get the show before the home crowd.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,763 ✭✭✭Fenster

We'll get the second half of the series before the US.

That episode seemed too short. -_-

The music was really annoying in bits, but the last few minutes really made up for it.

Ah happy to see everyone else thought there was something crappy with the music this week - was it a different composer or something? The first bit was awful but the final music run was nice.

The episode itself was good, and I loved Michelle Forbe's role and the more brutal regime of the Pegasus. What I would have preferred though was a slower buildup to the fight with the Pegasus. The ship would have been better to have been introduced 2-3 episodes ago and led up to this conflict. As it stands it loses some of the emotional/dramatic impact it could have had. As a result of the music, and this, I'm rating it "great" instead of "amazing"...

I screamed NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! at the TV there now, very fast paced episode, i'd have thought any confrontation woulda built up slowly but as usual BSG delivers what wasn't expected, great show, can't wait till January.

Rated it amazing despite agreeing with you all; the terrible music at the start of the episode was annoying. I also fully agree with ixoy; the Pegasus shoud have been a friend to Galactica for at least a few episodes. Lots of OMG moments in that one :D

Excuse me if I repeat what others have said, but I've jsut finished watching it and it was Fr Ackin amazing, one of the best episodes I have ever seen, of any show, holy **** the tension... cant believe I've gotta wait 3 months for the conclusion!! dammitt!!.. gonna read other thoughts now..hadda share that first, doubt I'm alone in this view tho.

Sorry for double posting, I know I should have read the other reviews first but didnt want to be emotionally swayed by others first. Music at the start, felt like battlestar elevator, it so sucked. the Admiral definatly legged it at the start of the cylon attack on caprica and now shes over compensating, Also she prob shot her 2nd cos he knew she ran and was gonna say it when she made that other crap decision. It wasnt a mutiny just a disagreement for *****s sake.. she so mentally unstable.. I also like ( and I'm prob reading too much into it) the diff approach to prisoner rights, the human dignity vs the beat and rape approach, do you become worse than your agressor cos you are at war with them?.. dont need to state the obvious influences on that one. The acting as usual was brilliant, guyus, the mans a class actor. too much too good, gonna watch atlantis now have a feelin I'm gonna be disapointed after this.

Great episode definitely. I didn't mind the opening music too much even though it was noticeable. I did enjoy the Baltar/Six moments. It certainly was a different side to Six than the usual "super-confident, super-sexy temptress" that we tend to see. I wonder was the Six model on Pegasus a self-aware agent or a sleeper agent?

Can't say enough good things about this episode really. The pacing was frenetic due to it having been cut down from a 1 hour episode to the 44 or so minutes we got. (As revealed on Ron Moore's podcast for the episode).

Was a bit disappointed when I heard that but it must have been forced upon them by the network. The good news is the 1 hour version will be released as part of the Season 2 DVD set!

Michelle Forbes was fantastic and really held her own against Olmos. Loved her as Ensign Ro on TNG and she delivers with Cain as well.

The scenes between Baltar and Gina (as Moore names this version of Six in the podcast) were emotionally charged and you could almost empathise with how he must feel to see the woman he loves (or at least a copy of her) so violated and abused.

I also agree that the opening music was jarring - I'm surprised as they usually are great at these aspects but I think they got it musically right again at the end for the dramatic face off between Adama and Cain.

    Can't wait for part two!

looks like BSG is setting a precendent for serious end of season cliff hangers, i remember seeing the end of season 1 when it was broadcast on Sky1 and shouting 'holy fu*k' at the TV, first time a tv show really surprised me.....

can't wait for the follow up...but i'll have to....

and yeah, the music was pants

That was unreal, the music let it down but it was right up there with the best of farscape for premium sci fi entertainment. The story, acting and camerawork just reeked of awsomeness.

I have also got to say that i was well chuffed to see the not to the origina (78)l galactica in the design of the pegasus.

The dehumanisation of the pegasus crew (looking back on raping gina with happy memories) was interesting and unsettling at the same time and really helped me overlook the speed of adamas about face towards cain.

Best episode since 33 I think

    fantastic episode!!!!! roll on sky1

wow is all i can say, its up there with b5's Severed Dreams in terms of internal confict

yes i would have preferred a few episodes of leading up to this but hey, its still one of the best 44 mins of scifi i have seen in a long time

baltar was brilliant in this episode, but i wonder if their were any cameras in the cell ie was he overheard stating that he loved/still loves a cylon

the treatment of 6 on the pegasus was brutal & savage, along with the attempted rape on galactica

i didnt have a problem with the music, i did notice it and think it was a bit out of place but it didnt bother me

utter fantastic but such a long wait till ep 11 ahh well guess ill rewatch farscape

Amazing. One of the best episodes yet I think; can't wait to see the hour long version -- and part two! damn breaks :-/

Thought the music was grand myself, though I skimmed a few comments here before watching it so I was expecting the worst.

I agree to an extent that it may have been better to have the Pegasus show up a few episodes ago, but at the same time the paceing here was great -- you were more or less waiting for something to happen from the beginning but they didn't give you the time to think about it -- just BAM! ****, fan, etc.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with regards the 'reassigned' officers.. perticularly Baltar, who probably won't want to give up his woman. Maybe they'll take her on board Galactica.

I also liked the contrast in the treatment of the cylon prisoners.. the show can seem like a bit of an exercise in justification at times; nice to see them also exploring themes of equality. Probably just the trekie in me shining through.

Am I the only one who thinks she legged it when the cylons initially attacked Caprica?
Anyway for those of ye with cousins stateside I recommend 'Theshold' to hold ye over till Jan, its upto ep 3 and I've found it the best of the new series that have started, surface and invasion are prety Neh! at least so far.

I didn't really like this ep as much as most of the rest of you. I really like Michelle Forbes (great as Ro Laran and lets not forget her as the sexy coroner in Homicide: Life on the streets) but I felt her charactor in this ep was a little bit one-dimensional. She was a baddy from the off with no redeeming features. Galactica has usually been a little bit more subtle than this. As other have posted if they had introduced Pegasus a few eps ago they could have built up a more nuanced portrait of Kain.

OK - whats going to happen in the concluding episode? One little raptor with a few Marines on board and a few fighters arn't going to pose much of a problem for a battlestar. Will Kain go for the nuclear option? Will Adama and/or El Prez get her to see sense? Will the civilian fleet intervene? Will the Cylons attack at the key moment? I don't care what happens as long as its not a cop-out and based on Battlestar's performance to date I don't think it will be.

    On the conclusion

I see the cylon fleet jumping in on their position, Cain has to be removed (she's nuts), galactica and pegasus will have to put scrap aside and take on cylon fleet.

    On Galactica vs Pegasus

    A few facts to consider

    Galactica

    - re-armed at anchorage station
    - possible half compliment

    Pegasus

    - lost 700 hands on deck in initial attack
    - was being refitted
    - possible lower arnament manifesto

    Amazing episode. Rather dark.
The dehumanised crew of the Pegasus give a stark contrast to the Galactica and I wonder if there is the possibility of Cain being a cylon with the task of trying to see how far humans can be dehumanised.

Voted Great. Lost a point for the music - it really was jarring. :( Hopefully RDM will take onboard some of the feedback from it for the next ep.

About the unknown Cylon ship? Ive seen on other forums, its been suggested that it might be some kind of big-ass Router for forwarding Cylon consciences back to Caprica. Any other theories, ppl?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,891 ✭✭✭savemejebus

my first thoughts were "router/relay station" but i think its way too big for that. Maybe it's a fully fledged cylon factory/breeding ground or perhaps a terraforming/colony ship?

It's possible, but I wouldn't be suprised if she was just a human. Military brutality would not be suprising.

If Cain was a cylon, why would she allow the No. 6 model in their brig to be tortured? I know there are probably different cylon agendas in play, but even if Cain was a psycho fellow-cylon torturing breed of cylon, I'm sure the Six in Baltar's head would have pointed that out to him so he could take the bitch down.
