The BBC has announced that it will investigate the leak of the fifth episode of Extras onto the Internet.

DigitalSpy forum members report that screener DVDs - discs sent out for review purposes - have been uploaded to the Internet using BitTorrent, a popular means of distributing files.

The BBC claims that the source file has been removed from a Swedish website.

It sure does seem to be out in the wild, alright.... Once its on BT, removing the source file is pointless.

I didn't know whether to laugh my arse off or cringe for the whole of that episode. Brilliant stuff!

Brilliant episode, but almost criminal underuse of Samuel L. Jackson.

I found it really funny, it's wierd with Ricky, It always takes me an episode or 2 before I start catching on to the jokes.... Happen with the office and again with this. Maybe I just don't pay much attention.

I imagine they had to work round his lucky availibility rather than him being flown in from Hollywoodland to make this episode. Not that he was even required.

I thought last night's episode was the worst one so far. I still enjoyed it but I just didn't think it was the funniest one yet. Some of Ricky Gervais's charachters scenes with the annoying bald guy were great though.

Really enjoyed last night's. Not the best episode (Kate Winslet and Les Dennis are better), but still great. This one was more about the cringe factor. I was disappointed though with the underuse of Jackson. He can be a funny guy and I thought he would have had more input. Delighted to see it's been given a second series.

The "soup" incident is the "Brent Dance" of the series so far. Fan Flucking Tastic!

Yeah I've seen about 3 episodes and they're not very funny at all. There's the odd funny bit, but for the most part it's a terrible let-down. I wasn't a big Office fan either, but I can say that I think it was alot funnier than this. I still love RG, though, and his stand-up is just hilarious.

BTW, am I the only one who notices Ricky using this show as a platform for expressing his views rather than(or as well as) as pure entertainment? For instance, he talks about how he's atheist(which he did in Animals), and spends a while explaining why, and that he believes in science rather than faith. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, I quite like when entertainers do this(Bill Hicks, for instance, who takes it to a whole other level, lol), I just thought it was interesting to notice.

Actually I found that terribly boring tbh. I think his stand up is terrible, and Extra's has been a big disappointment, which leaves me to believe that he is aone hit wonder with the office, and he was just lucky.I just didn't laugh much at all with his stand up,I thought he was just plain bad. IMO :D

I saw Politics in the point and it was bloody hilarious. The warm up act was not great but Gervais got a standing ovation at the end. I would say it was one of the best recieved stand up comedy shows I've seen in Dublin.

While the last episode was one of the better ones from a comedy point of view and The test Andy did on Maggie was awesome :) why did they even bother to get Sam Jackson to be in it?

Every other celeb were miles better than he was (Winslet was increadable) and Jackson just came accross as someone who wasnt going to have any jokes at his expence made :(

Who does this guy Ricky Gervais think he is? Some kind of comedian or something? You'd think he wrote the show or something.

Well, I think it's great. It's much funnier than any other show on TV at the moment. I look forward to Thursday nights for the BBC2 comedy night

Last episode of the 6 tonight. Who's the special guest?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MrPinK

    Patrick Stewart

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 626 ✭✭✭Kazaanova

That was alright. Well, that was great really.

Patrick Stewarts script idea was one of the funniest things yet. The rest wasnt THAT funny, still very enjoyable to watch. And I really liked the way Gervais didnt use the cliche TV "put your foot in it", and actually ended up with the pilot going ahead. The Patrick Stewart thing on the phone was a very nice touch too. Cant wait for season two. Excellent show.

You know what would be great? Gervais and Merchant in a series of 5 mins sketches set in Merchants office. Nothing else. Could be a winner.

    What...?

(yes, I noticed the sarcasm... I don't know what you're getting at though)

I'm getting at you're kind of giving out about Gervais putting his own opinions etc. into his show. If someone else had of written the show, we would of just gotten their opinions.

Being a big Gervais fan, I hoped Extras would be good and I think it has been, its different, that why some people get it I suppose. Stephen Merchant playing the agent has to be the best character in it though, he's as thick as the wall, the best bit in last nights one both involved him, first when him and Barry were in the office and then when he was at the meeting with the gay lads from the BBC. Hilarious!!

No, I was just pointing it out cos I thought it was interesting; most comedians, TV shows, etc., are there purely for entertainment, but Ricky Gervais incorporates his thoughts on fundamental ideas and principles into some of his work as well, which I haven't noticed as being particularly common today.

I even said, "I'm not saying this is a bad thing, I quite like when entertainers do this(Bill Hicks, for instance, who takes it to a whole other level, lol)"...

I wasn't giving out, I was commending him, if anything.
