The ones who are causing the violence and are probably football scumbags looking for a fight? Or the ones who think they can persuade the world leaders to change by a peaceful demonstration?

The next Poll starter of a spammy poll gets a 1 month ban, the next one after that gets a 2 month ban, and so fourth.

Just though I'd remind you about the charter...

I would like to take this opportunity to ask people who reply or vote in this forum to answer me one simple question. Have you ever been in one of these demonstrations??? Have you seen the inner workings of a full scale protest? Do you know the different groups of protesters that are actually at the event (and I mean by the colour not political parties). Yes I believe in the right of freedom of speech and expression but how can you form a serious opinion on the matter if you don't fully understand the situation.

Those dressed in black, with their faces covered, promoting violence, should get the **** kicked out of them.

In other words the black bloc.

Right the black bloc's job in an anarchist protest is to cause as much disturbance as possible by any means necessary. They will pad themselves up in any material they can find as when they meet any opposition they will attempt to get around it. Black blocs became infamous in Genoa a few years back when one black bloc protester (Carlo Giuliani) was fatally wounded when an Italian policeman shot him in the head t point blank range from the back of a land rover and then proceeded to roll over the body twice after Carlo and some others attacked the land rover in question when it comes to police lines they will force their way through using any means possible. I would like to point out that the black block is a minority of protesters and the "group" itself seems to have run its course.

It is just a shame that the media only focuses on these protesters so much and ignore the other side of the story completely (ie what happens and has happened the peaceful protesters in the past)

they do and this is what happens

The July 22 police raid on the headquarters of the Genoa Social Forum-- theumbrella group coordinating the protests-- and the neighboring IndependentMedia Center (IMC) received largely indifferent coverage. Reports indicatethat some 200 police officers descended on the Forum, brutally beating theactivists sleeping there in an attack that injured 61 people, with more thana dozen of the 93 people arrested carried out of the building on stretchers, some unconscious (London Guardian, 7/24/01).

Some are protesting peacefully but then there are the ones who think that throwing chairs through windows will get the world's governments to listen. They are clowns.

police have cancelled the "official" protest. this isn't gonna change the protesters minds as if anyone remembers dublin mayday 2 years ago the main grassroots protest was cancelled by the gardai yet the march went ahead with roughly 5000 people involved.

    Sky Story Here

I said release the Horses and Big sticks, not live ammunition. If you're going to throw bricks at police. You deserve to be beat down on. TAKE IT PROTESTORS!

You can hardly expect the media to dwell on the odd peacenik getting a beating when there's great footage of the black bloc getting the bejesus beaten out of them can you now?

Anyone who diliberately trys to provoke the police deserves the kicking tbh, or if the police are armed then they obviously knew the risks they were taking on and still went ahead.

As far as the black bloc go - they are just ruining the protest for ordinary decent protestors who may have genuine greivances - not just a bunch of nutters looking for a ruck. Personally I think shooting is too good for the black bloc.

The people who are there to protest are fine and the people who are there to riot are scum. They deserve whatever punishment the police can dish out.

ummm i think you may notice that the ones throwing the bricks at Genoa weren't the ones gettin the S**T beaten outta them by the italien police. they were sleeping in a media area and i think if you delve deeper into tje story you will find eyewitness accounts of extreme police brutality

this is NOT a direct quote as i onl;y have limited time on the net right now but i remember one account describing "blood on the ceilings" now i do believe that that is uncalled for
