    (from post 4384)

SigPo and fans, thank you for your valued, dedicated, and diligent help in promoting signature awareness throughout all these fantastic years we have been together. I must now close this long held tradition in favour of a sleeker, quieter, and dirty laundryless SigPo 2.0. This M3GA-Thread has now been sacrificially slaughtered to the gods of the mighty FeedForward forum and I bow down to the greatness of the public will. /shakes fist at public will

So yeah, we're closing this thread in favour of the new Signatures forum, under Sys. It's a private forum where you can only see the notice showing the sigrules and the thread that you create. And the only people seeing that is You, the Admins and the Employees. Feel free to pop around if you need to report a signature.

I will now endeavour to copypaste your snipped signature into the reported sig thread that the reporter creates which saves Admins having to keep localised copies of sigs and we can give you your old signature we snipped. We're also trying to get dev time so that a report sig option could be whipped up swiftly by Conross, I'm personally hoping for a similar system to the automated message you get when a mod infracts a user, but that's for paid people to sweat about!

I'll unsticky this and close it soon, adding to the top of the OP on this thread - this post.

Thanks again for the help, everyone. :)

    _____________________previous OP begin below_____________________

Please note that THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION THREAD, this thread is for reporting signatures. If you wish to complain about your signature being snipped please go to the Helpdesk.

These signature rules have come about due to excessively large/animated/offensive signatures that some people are wont to include in their posting repartee. Administrators are currently the only usergroup with the ability to edit signatures and cannot police all signature content due to scale; this is where you come in. If you see a user whose sig is in breach of the aforementioned rules, then post a link to their profile here and an Admin will will snip the sig when they get to it*. If, however, you feel that you can't publicly report someones signature feel free to PM an Admin (Gordon is currently responsible for signatures).

Remember though, boards is a community, why not politely PM the user and give them a chance to adjust their sig themselves? You don't have to, but the Admins don't have time either. Some users would appreciate the chance to keep their sigs within the rules if they knew they were breaking them.

    Gordon

    * It is up to the individual user to keep backups of their signature, we do not provide a copy of signatures. If your signature gets removed, we will not replace it with a backup, so please backup your signatures if they are important to you. One handy hint is to use google cache to retrieve your old post/sig content.

I taught a script was run now and again to find sigs that go over the allowed size

Same, but I haven't seen it done in a while. Oh, and I started the 2 threads under Vex's instruction.

mathewthebig thinks he's cool and thinks that by trying to report people for signatures might give him the appearance of having some power on boards?

    I dunno ... just a thought.

This is uncredible. It's as bad as people suggesting a forum just so that they can mod it.

    Lol

    You go, jesus

I thought he WAS a mod at first....but now seeing as he isn't, this is ridiculous. Especially seeing as hes reporting people that have sigs that are either complient (or like mine-) a small bit over the limit, but not exactly noticable as such.

if he is guilty then i think you and I and probaly 75 percent of the boards membership are guilty of the same thing.

that being having an image and text in a signiture.

a rule that could do with a review in my opinion.

So you are admiting that you were breaking the signature rules...that's good. ;) Your present signature is cool but you have had some really annoying signature images over the last couple of weeks. So perhaps Sigpo has influenced your decison to have a less irritating signature...?

I think that if people are going to send private messages to people they do not normally send them to, then they should make it absoloutly clear that they themselves have no power to edit their signiture, but that it has been brought to the attention of someone that can edit it if they don't do it themselves..

tbh i agree with you there...but at present it is one of the rules. we just highlight violations of the signature policy we do not make nor enforce the said policy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

how do you put more than one link into a single image ruggiebear?

Shouldnt the Signature Police be called "SIGPOL" and not "SIGPO" ?

    You know... like INTERPOL?

You need to slice your image into pieces and then for each piece insert a url. Here's mine (dropping the "." in the code tags, obviously) ;)

ah i see. but does that not break the single image rule? :D

another rule which needs to be looked at. if someone has ten images in their sig provided that they dont total more than 20k then they should be left alone, provided they dont take up too much space.

I would also propose an exemption for those raising awarness to charitable events like the SSF and the tsunami donations thing that were in peoples sigs around christmas and the new year.

Nope, I've had that same sig now for a while, before I was notified of its illegality. And I mean when I say it was over the limit, it was literally SEVERAL pixels. :)

Annoying images? ?The guy with the OICW? That was just a temp thing, that I always intended replacing when I got time to bang out a new rush job.... :p
