Say you're a law student and you feel that your superior knowledge of the law means that you may in some way influence the rest of the jury and hence prejudice the trial or else tell them you have holidays/ self employed or some other sob story like that

I got called up when I was on the dole, forgot all about it, went into the courthouse on the day I thought was the day and was told I was late by about a week.
Got into a nice chat with the court guard, he rang upstairs and told me they would "sort it out", and I would nae be fined or re-called. Yipee!!
