So the Mrs went to Cupra today thinking of jumping into a new model 2026 Born from her current 2022 Birn. She decided to test drive a Tavascan and now has her head turned.

She's adamant she wants HUD and 360 cameras so it would need to be an Endurance 6.

Any thoughts on what's a good deal, if now is a good time to buy etc. Any advice at all as the Tavascan was not on my radar lately. Cheers!

I made the move from the 22 Born to Tavascan in Feb 25, so I'll give my thoughts.

Is it the new Born with the proper switches/ Google android software etc she was looking at? The switches dont bother me, but proper ones are an upgrade on touch sensitive.

If so no Tavascan will have those upgrades yet but they are coming.

Endurance 6 brand new is significantly more expensive than any version of the Born on the market so take that into account. Can the Born not have 360 camera and head up display?

I find the cars similar enough to drive, Tav is obviously bigger but doesnt feel that much bigger inside, main extra space is boot. Tavascan looks far better i side though, especially in the 6 with the panoramic roof and ambient lighting.

Its a cracking looking car outside too.

Just to note also if current prices stay the same the 6 will be losing the 3500 grant in july as ots a fair bit over 50000 euro.

What is the price difference between the Born and the Tav? I wager its quite a lot already and about to get wider.

They didn't have any of the new Borns in yet, I'd just assumed they'd have a few demos at this point. When she saw the Tavascan and had a test we didn't even bother with discussing Born numbers so I think that's where her heads at.

She has HUD in her current car and mine has 360 cameras which she loves so they've become must haves.

There's a small 2k incentive on 262s at present so the Endurance 6 is coming in at 55k currently. You're right about the grant change so that will likely go to 60k from 271? I can't see Cupra not making price adjustments to offset that

60k from 262 as far as I know, so very soon youd have to register as a 261....someone might confirm if I am correct there.

Mine was 52k in feb 2025 after the 3500 grant and Cupracmatching the grant with 3500, I also got 0% finance over 4 years and didnt pay a penny deposit

58500 with interest on top makes it a fair bit more expensive. Its a great car though! Id maybe try pick up a demo at that price

From what I read August 1st is the cutoff. As long as it's processed by the 31st anything in the 50-60k range is fine

Oh thats a strange date, but gives you an extra month to make a decision if you want it or not.

Anyway, tavascan a really great car if you do go for it. My head hasn't been turned by anything else style wise since I've bought it

Saw another Tav in the car park of the local zupermarkt this evening - I think I'm seeing the same one more than once at this stage - 261D Endurance 6 in a deep grey, very like the Tesla Stealth Grey colour. Pound for pound I think it's the nicest "SUV" shape currently on the market, and makes the ID4, Q4, BMW iX3, any Peugeot etc, look extremely vanilla. Edges the Juniper out in my eye as well.

Hats off to Cupra (again) for a really cool design.

    Interior is very striking also.

It may be over the top for many and I have experienced better quality materials in other cars for same price but its certainly interesting.

I got an app push notification of a software update being available for my car. First time that has happened so I went and checked my car, no update showing. Another minor pain with Cupras is trying to locate updates when the car says there is one.

So for anyone else. Get in the car. Put it in drive. Manually turn lights on, get car out of “auto lights”. Seat belt on. Put car in park, seat belt off. Car should go to Home Screen and update available is shown.

Note. YOUR CAR IS UNAVAILABLE TO DRIVE FOR AN HOUR WHILE IT UPDATES. So don’t select it while out and about. I think potentially this is an update to 5.4 and likely the last major update series for our version of Tavascans. New cars are rolling out with 6.0 in them. Which looks to be significantly better as it is android based and you therefore have access to the android App Store for apps like YouTube and games etc.

Mine is due to finish its update in 20 mins I’ll post if there is any decent improvements like remembering shortcut selections etc.

Car finished update then flashed up that it was going to make an Internet connection to complete update to 5.4.0 car is however still showing 5.2 so I have left it alone to see if it will complete the job.

    Edit

No joy. Still showing 5.2 as software ID, despite saying it was going to finish update to 5.4. Maybe it failed and will offer the update again or just needs to be left alone for longer.

    Edit 2

update completed. No noticeable changes from a UI perspective. Hopefully car will remember shortcuts again. One of the kids noticed that a rear door wasn’t always opening via the outside handle, hopefully also sorted.
