Circle k 200kwh. Battery was at 55% when I charged

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,529 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

    60kw @ 55% seems low alright.
bit could have simply been a charger bug. Check it again on another DC unit.

Charging curve here would indicate the DC charger you used is probably the issue. In my experience Ionity is consistently faster with VAG group vehicles than most other providers.

Getting 92kwh here at the moment starting from 16% SOC didn't even optimise

Its more that the car is say max 60kwh

    When I was charging

    The 61% was at 100%.

II'll Try other chargers and see, but I would have thought the car would say higher than 60kwh regardless of what the charger is doing

I’d say the stopping sensation you describe (as well as being heavier) is that so many EVs rely on regeneration for that lack of initial bite point on the brake pedal. You really notice it in the VW Group stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,545 ✭✭✭Reckless Abandonment

Yeah brakes will hopefully get some sort of update. As for the charging issue it was much faster today 95kwh the battery probably just needed a cycles to get it working better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,550 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

I don't like the brakes in mine in D mode without any regen selected, either up the regen or drive in B mode and it's much better feeling.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,529 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

    @MarkN likes it anyway.
Only thing I thought the comfort would be much better than the MY but you mention that it’s “just as good, if not better” which implies it’s not moons apart.

    Looks 😎

The new Y is meant to be pretty good though isn't it?

Tavascan comfort is good, not excellent it's still set up quite sporty. The DCC like Mark said is great, I'm glad I have it on any speedbump areas etc I have the individual mode set up to the most floaty suspension setting and can be accessed with the big steering wheel buttons. It's extremely firm in the cupra setting.

I'm starting to see the odd other one around now.

I had adaptive air suspension in my last car and it’s one thing I miss alright. The DCC appeals to me now in that Cupra.

They are still rare enough that when you see one they jump out at you. Aggressive styling, which I like.

If you're in the market its only the endurance 6 that has the DCC. The Endurance 4 doesn't but has 19 inch wheels so might be still comfortable. I'm not sure if all the VZ dual motor ones have DCC or not but there's a big price jump to them and I doubt they'll sell.

The 6 has 21 inch wheels and just as good over rough surfaces as my born on 18s. Not up to the etron levels I had before but is a much more lively drive.

Ordered the E4 today. Test drove the E6 too a little while back and you’d need DCC with the 21s on the E6. It’s not needed for the E4.

€45k OTR is pretty hard to be beat. Also barring the glass roof, interiors are pretty similar, albeit slightly nicer in the E6.

That 10k just from E4 to E6 was just a little too much for a lot of differences I don’t want.

Anyone have an idea on lead times?

Best of luck, what colour did you get? Yeah the 21s without DCC would be way too firm, I leave mine in the most comfortable setting mostly.

Basalt grey I think was the name. Looked great with the silver wheels you get with the E4.

I picked up mine a litte over two weeks ago , the dealer was indicating july for the next batch of them to come in. Best of luck with it. I'm loving mine so far ( first ev) only hit me today that I haven't been to a petrol station in weeks :)

Super and well may you drive.

I traded in my Born as I needed more space. Have an ID4 as well so fully electric these days.

It’s incredible isn’t - serious money saver too as those petrol station crisps added up lol!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,545 ✭✭✭Reckless Abandonment

Yeah it sure is. And I came out of a golf r so I really don't know myself. But I do miss them crisps :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,550 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

Yeah I know it, there are only 4 colours available anyway. Nice colour.

Had a test drive today of the E4. Very impressed by it.

Out of all the cars I have checked out, it has the best value finance wise, even with a higher interest rate on the PCP. I have looked at the Ioniq 5 FR, EV3, iD4 Pro Plus and Elroq.

As it's a new model, what equity should I expect or hope to have in the car after 3 years PCP? GMV is ~23k. Its about 2K more than the iD4, 1K more than Elroq.

Would looking at 2022 prices of similar VAG EVs be a good yardstick?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,550 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

Yeah it would be a decent gauge alright. I think the gmfv is too high and monthly payments too low the way they are marketing it, i don't see much equity if any in 3 years at 23k trading in, unless you can do a private sale, but that will be tough to achieve as it will be out of general warranty.

Also, look at 3 year old cupra born prices v 3 year old id3 prices to see what factor the brand has, obviously they don't have the market that VW has. Or skoda, hyundai, which you have mentioned. I think the ev6 does fairly well comparably on resale with the long warranty.

I have the Endurance 6 and the gmfv on that was 25k even though it was 8k dearer or something. I'll never see the value of those options back.

But it's a good car, i don't expect it to do much better or much worse than any mainstream car out there. Budget for 50% loss in 3 years.

Try lock in that 3500 bonus too to minimise your purchase price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,862 ✭✭✭joe1303l

Resale value could well be a little back from comparative VAG EV’s. Historically SEAT/CUPRA would probably be the weaker of the VAG group brands to retain value.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 230 ✭✭K3v

Thanks for the feedback @Buddy Bubs.

I also had alook at the refreshed version of the Enyaq. Was very impressed by it. Even though it is more expensive, the 3% difference in the PCP interest only works out ~1800 more after the 3 years. Skoda would prob have a higher resale value over the Cupra. I might end up with more equity with the Enyaq after 3 years.

I got my tavascan with 0% finance. HP though, not PCP. Is it really 3.9 on pcp?

Are you sure the 45k tavascan includes both the 3500 SEAI and 3500 cupra contribution? I think you might have missed one of them.

Spec the 2 of them up like for like. Only 2 spec versions of the tavascan and 1 battery option, there's a few different trim levels of the enyaq and 2 battery sizes. So make sure you know what you're getting for the money.

Workmate of mine has an enyaq, it was very close for me between enyaq, tavascan and ev6 when I was buying. Most people in work prefer the tavascan styling but the enyaq is a nice looking machine too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭6.5x55 seller ammo

Just on the above, the €45k figure for the E4 is inclusive of the SEAI grant and Cupra’s matching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 230 ✭✭K3v

Yeah definitely not missing 3500 on the Tavascan.

Enyaq I priced was the base model with larger battery. No extras.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 230 ✭✭K3v

The 3500 extra off is clawed back on the 3.5% PCP rate.

Is there a lower APR if you don't take the contribution? 3.9% is a fairly standard rate, I wouldn't be upset at paying 3.9% without getting a contribution. Their finance example has the interest at €3,200 so their contribution covers the APR and then some. It's effectively 0%?

It's only for they've been doing good finance deals in the last year or so that you'd see 0% or 1.9% but prior to that you were getting 3.9% and no contributions.

The Formentor has a free spec upgrade worth €1,600. That's 2.9% with a cost of credit that's €2,152. On both Born models the 3.9% puts them just under €3,000 interest, so it seems their contributions does put you ahead of other models with lower APR.
