in my experience, CUPRAs hold their value really well. I’ve been offered €26k on a trade-in for my 2021 Formentor with 100,000 km. It cost €45k new (actually €40k due to seai grant).

I’d agree with that. The Born seems to have held its value better relative to the ID3.

Has the base price of the Tavascan 4 has gone up ~3K since the end of March this year?

That's from the dealership I bought mine from...I was thinking 45k was too high for the Endurance 4

That's more or less exactly what I was being quoted in January.

    So who is playing games?

Cupraofficial.ie says orders between 14th April and 30th June for a 252 plate qualify for the extra 3500 booster / grant matching....

The 3500 has been on and removed and back on again over the last while, brought down to 2000 for a Born and back to 3500 now. As it also is for tavascan.

You'd have to talk to a dealer but I think they're a 42k car in Endurance 4 trim, 52k for the 6. Unless they have jacked up base price to compensate for the discount, but plenty of ads on donedeal now for 42k

    2025 Cupra Tavascan

    Winter pack 1720

    Silver white paint 860

Looks like there's ~2000 built into that price for delivery

HP at 7.24% - mother of God.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,978 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

Take away winter pack and colour (atacama desert is free on the 4, all others are extra) and you're at 44k so it's still over the odds of what i thought it should be

If there's a delivery charge extra then they are giving with one hand and taking away with the other.

For what it's worth there was 0% HP available on these earlier in the year too

Cupra seem to be very generous with their offers for the last 6-12 months it seems with the contributions or decent finance offerings. If I missed an offer I'd be waiting to see what else comes up as you probably wouldn't be waiting long.

They can be a bit blasè about their pricing too like they don't know their market, twice they have launched the 'performance Born' from 60k plus then dropped right down to under 40k soon after, they did it with the E-Boost which is now just the standard car ams they did it with the VZ

They have been adding and removing that 3500 booster too, make sure you get it if looking.

Don't pay any more than equivalent id5 or enyaq would be my recommendation anyway

For the additional CUPRA seai top up, has anyone noticed dealers not passing it all on. Have had several complain that they themselves pay for it and so use as little as possible.

Very frustrating and possible false advertising by CUPRA

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 108 ✭✭6.5x55 seller ammo

A few calls between various dealers all giving different OTR prices is enough to confirm something is at play.

I was happy to say that my local dealer was very upfront on the breakdown of the price including both grant, vet relief and seai top up.

Regardless, I had to back out of my order due to a personal change meaning I’ll not get to use the car for 6 months. Shame as I was looking forward to it, but no point in changing until the new year.

How are folks finding the tavascan so far. I'm have deal lined up on one but trying to decide between it and the new model y. Looking at the endurance 6 by the way. Will make a decision over weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,978 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

I have the 6 in silverwhite. Love it so far. I drove from Dublin to Antrim town last week and back on 1 charge, about 450kms at motorway speeds. It didn't have much left in it though!

Its averaging 17.5kwh per 100kms since I got it in early Feb. I guess that will be close to its long term average.

The extras on the 6 are nice. Panoramic roof, nicer wheels, nice interior, heads up display, sennheiser stereo, double floor in boot to store cables and other shallow things and still have a full free boot.

If it didn't have the adaptive suspension the 21s would be unbearable but I'd guess the 4 on 19s is fine without it.

Gets lots of nice compliments any time anyone sees it. Some place to be at night time with the light show.

Drives very like my Born which is a compliment for an SUV, Im not sure how the Y drives compared to the 3.

2 quite different cars to have on a 2 car shortlist as regards the design, Cupra is very flash and full of design features, Tesla is very minimalist and clean design.

Id guess the Tesla has the edge in tech and the cupra in driving dynamics. Range im not sure. Is there much of a price difference?

Have a Born as well which I'm getting s good trade on the tavascan. They drive similar alight. 17.5 is decent efficiency in fairness. Good to know. Had the old model y and the power, efficency and tech is great. In terms of price, the are more or less the same. Lr is 52k and 4wd is 55k. Big thing to me is trade in on the Born as opposed to selling private which I have to do with tesla and I'm not having much joy with at the min. What's the software like, any issues with it? Hopefully it's come on a bit since my 231 Born.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,978 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

Ah you're well clued in so having a Born

The software is much better on Tavascan, I have a 2022 Born so I assume same as yours. Faster, better response from the screen and screen is bigger too. Lit up temp sliders too which is obviously a bonus. Not too much new really, it was easy to use coming from Born its quite similar. Just more polished.

About 100kms more range than the 58kwh Born as theyre in around same efficiency.

I went in looking at the Tavascan 4 looking to spend 43k but its missing things my V1 Born had as standard, heated seats being the obvious one. So I ended up in the 6.

The Born kinda feels its age in software when driving the 2 of them back to back, which I do regularly. Other driving dynamics similar though. Tavascan is definitely a bit quicker, but not massively.

The Born is going next month, I've traded it for a R5 just felt too similar to Tavascan and boring!

On selling private, yeah that would be tricky i assume you're looking at 20 to 25k for the Born. May be the one factor that swings you to Tavascan.

Thanks Buddy. Getting almost 24k for born in trade in a 875 euro worth of cupra charging credit as well as the 3500 seai match offer as well so its not a bad deal. There is no charging cables with it which is strange.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,978 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

Which colour are you going for?

Charging credit is nice, i didnt get that.

Is it 28k or so to change ?

Seems I've some confusion around the prices and that prices have gone up to compensate for the grant matching offer, my Tavascan 6 was 52k after all grants, I didnt trade anything against it so was transparent. seems they are more expensive in some dealers. I also got 0% 4 year HP.

No charging cables is strange. I got a bright yellow type 2, not that I use it very often. Keep your current ones from the Born in that case, I wouldn't be entertaining that.

    Anyone other questions just ask.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 182 ✭✭declan123

Yep. 28k to change but charging 350 for the type 2 charging cable. Going for the blue if I go ahead with it. Thanks for all the advice and guidance lads

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,978 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

    Yeah blue is nice.

Do they expect you to give a cable back with the Born?

I didn't ask that but I'd imagine they would. I'll try and keep it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,956 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Won't your next car have one though?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,978 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

No, thats the problem. they arent supplying one with it and asking for €350 to purchase one from them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,956 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

    Seems penny pinching alright.

Whatever about a granny charger it does seem odd that a brand is not providing a basic accessory to allow the vehicle to work.

if I was trading in and the new car didn’t have the cable, not a chance I’d be leaving the cable with the trade in car.

Just Cupra trying to claw back some of the top up booster!

52k for a car and they have the neck to want another €350 for a charging cable? Why are cables not standard with EVs? It's a bit like buying a TV or oven and being charged extra for the power cord and plug. An easy money grab for them is all it is. No way I'd be paying them extra for a cable.

Absolutely mental they're charging for a type 2 cable, car can't be used without one. People have untethered chargers. Whatever about not getting the granny charger.

Worth sending an email to Cupra Ireland over it. If they want to shut down Seat and rebrand as Cupra and appear more upscale they can't have that carry on.
