Una should really stop going for threesomes. They never work out for her.

Those girls are fine for cruise ships with a backing track and a captive audience but would be useless doing a proper live gig imo.

I wouldn't have picked the winner either for an opening act. It just won't suit that audience. Acts 2 or 5 are the ones that would get them going.

Wouldn't be surprised if the last show of the season, Fri 1st May, is also Patrick's last ever Late Late. Mutterings in the press about him being "exhausted" and "exasperated" and they're cutting it fine to announce he'll be back. I think it's a pity as he made a good go of it, but no matter who is hosting, I just think that the format is dead in the water and the media landscape has changed. Even on X/Twitter you don't even see many tweets about it any more on a Friday night. Not even to slag it off. It used to be a good laugh seeing the tweets back in the day.

Three years would be a bit pathetic for someone who made a show of being inspired by the legacy of Gay Byrne.

I’m not sure why so many people seem to want to rush the Late Late off the stage. Maybe it will be past its sell-by date in ten or twenty years, but for the moment it’s ticking along with a reasonable 300-400k viewers and some decent guests. Who knows, there might even be a resurgence of interest in the authenticity of live television. Even though I don’t often watch it, I like that it’s there.

I think RTÉ had no one else, and really have no one else to takeover.

If PK did leave the show who replaces him, RTÉ haven't pushed anybody towards that role. Instead they suggested Ciaran Cuddihy as a potential successor.

PK was always a stop gap measure. I say he might do one more series.

Also I'd say a lot of these reports are quoting "insiders" and those insiders are close to someone else.

But that's all just an opinion.

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

    Sporty Spice joins TLLS

Chris O'Dowd and Ardal O'Hanlon … discuss the down fall of Fr Ted and IT Crowd Creator, remember folks you can say anything on TLLS with PK… right!

Anna Haugh, more like Anna How do you make that cake?, because she's a chef and celebrity one at that.

And Dermot Bannon is back with a bang, I don't think he's been on since the other fellow!

And to wash all down a sing song from Les Misérables with Killian Donnelly, good line up for us here in, as some would put it, Misery tower… well as Mrs Doyle would say …. Maybe some of use like the misery.

The penultimate episode of the year. 3 more years 3 more years.

I found one of the Now! albums from back in the day with sporty spice on it. Might tune in tomorrow to hear her sing live.

Bannon must have his own chair at this stage?🤔

I suppose in fairness he wasn't expecting all the upheaval in his personal life and maybe was too optimistic, in his excitement about being offered the show, about the practicalities of the commute back and forth, and the realities of working at RTE. 3 years would indeed be very short and if he were to leave I'm sure it would be with great regret that things didn't work out long term. I hope he doesn't leave though. I like him and think he's the best chance the show has, if it is going to survive for a few years.

The best argument in favour of keeping the Late Late Show is that the cute dog pictures tradition would die with it!

I’m all for ‘The Late Late Show’ being replaced by 1h 40m of kitteh and puppeh gifs!

    I’d watch that 😁

Life happens, we all have problems, but also TLLS runs from Mid-Sep to the Mid-May and breaks for several weeks during this period. He's not going into RTÉ everyday of the week to prepare and research. He's has 4 months of the year off, with breaks at Halloween, Christmas and Easter. He get's 250K per year.

He largely has a good life.

Mid Sep to 1 May this season I think. €10k approx per show, decent wedge.

Kielty is the worst host so far …. way too lightweight and nothing in the way of discussion ….. doubling down on the worst aspects of the Kenny/Tubridy years and adding in Seth Meyers-style cr@p as well ….. guests like Joanna McNally and Garron Noone plus the 'old reliables' like Dermot Bannon …… and not one thing in the way of a proper effort to create a varied show …. that's his legacy ….. time to move on ….. time for a more serious host …..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,317 ✭✭✭lumphammer2

It would want to improve itself ….. yes I would watch a decent Late Late Show but not Garron Noone, Joanne McNally, too many sportspeople, pop music, etc etc etc …… I would like to see more discussion more like what Gay Byrne had ….. Kielty's show is far from Gay's one ….. a more serious host is what it is crying out for ……

Kielty has not done well …. removing the discussions and doubling down on the airhead stuff is exactly the opposite to what needs to be done ….. Kielty has to go …… he is the Donald Trump of chat show hosts !! …..

Surely there is someone who could do it ?? ….. Brendan O'Connor did a good Saturday Night Show that was very watchable …… Claire Byrne would bring a much needed serious edge to it …… Katie Hannon could bring a discussion focus on both political and non political topics …… one of the Prime Time presenters could also steer it way from the lightweight Kielty focus …… I am sure there is someone ….anyone …. out there who can do it better than Kielty …… hell, even bring back Tubridy if we have to !!! …

I think Brendan O'Connor would be the best of the current crop for the LLS if the slot were to become available. Claire Byrne would be my second choice.

I said it last time round, and I still think PBH would make a good host.

Strange shot of a man in the audience who looked like he really didn't want to be there.
