That most of the audience who watch the LLS Country Special watch every week anyway.

Latest competitor announced a half-Filipino girl who said she's never seen anyone in country who looked like her.

Wait till she learns about the magic of Shoji Tabuchi.

Irish Independent podcast about the future of the Late Late Show. I don’t think it’s great analysis, and in particular I don’t agree that Kielty has done a good job, but at the very end one of the guests says she thinks the Late Late should be pre-recorded like Graham Norton’s chat show, which would tighten it up a bit. I thought that was an interesting suggestion. Some of the awkward banter could be edited out and it would free them to experiment in various ways. Something would definitely be lost by not broadcasting it live, but if increasingly many people are watching it on demand anyway, maybe it doesn’t matter.

I'm the opposite. I watch it occasionally Becca it's live and anything might happen. Pre recorded is just free advertising for the guests.

Going by how many times Patrick says to check the website for the competition winner, it seems to be partially pre-recorded anyway.

    Segments are pre- recorded.

If a guest worth having is in town during the week and won't be around on Friday I think it is an acceptable compromise.

TLLS never really worked pre-recorded, the repeat is always hard to watch.

Audience figures show that over the 3 years PK has seen the same drops that his predecessor had, in reality 15 years ago was when this conversation should have been had when RT lost 100K in one season. (I will have more on this when the season ends).

TLLS is like soap operas, it would be a very brave DG or Director of Video (neither KB4 or Carson are) that would drop it, it still has an audience whether we like it or not, and you can't axe something because you don't like it, however you should be trying out new programmes.

… But RTÉ have tried out nothing over the course of the last 3 season, they could have gauged what the audience wanted instead they went with the easiest, cheapest and safest thing available to them a film.

When PK was off they should have had some kind of special.

At the very least it was an opportunity to move the Eurovision National Contest out of TLLS on a Friday night when TLLS wasn't airing, at the most to introduce new presenters, comedians and pilot shows.

The idea of a C&W song contest with covers is the safest move you can make.

But I am sure there are many that will point out the massive changes to Irish broadcasting in the last 3 years, IMO just bring back RT and D4bres and be done with it.

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

The days of anything happening off script are long gone.

There are press releases during the week that tell the exact anecdotes the guest will recite.

If a guest arrived plastered or a big argument happened or something mad occurred PK just has to plough on,end the segment and bring out Kathryn Thomas or whoever.

I like Patrick,he's a massive improvement on Tubridy (although Tubs has being great comedic value since he left)

The show is just kind of pointless now.The odd big name telling the same story they've done on the UK circuit and then 80% other RTE affiliated "guests".

I saw one of the lads in his rte profile say country music is real and authentic.

Not in Ireland, mate. Just a load of Midlanders and Ulster types in stetsons either murdering US songs or singing inauthentic drivel.

Anyone who did not put on a horrendous American accent gets my vote, so that leaves the young Wexford lad.

i know boards.ie has died a death since the 'redesign' but that really is a sign of how long the LLS has left

    Of course it's authentic.

Dozens of bands with talented musicians and singers entertaining crowds of people who enjoy a good night out.

I wasn't sure whether to post here or the other thread asking if the LLS should be wound up at this stage.

This is utter drivel, I can't decide what's worse, the glorified karaoke or the nauseating 'this is the best thing I've ever heard' reviews for every single act.

    Ms

The Late Show really has gone to crap. Barely any posts in here or the other thread. 5 acts on and only the last two were in anyway decent. I think Ryan Phonix the last act will win. I think its fixed too.

    The judges are a joke..

Una Healey just picked the worst act and I have no idea who the other judges are. Two for the first act which was the worst act. What a joke. The third fellow pivked the 4th act which was not bad. Certainly brtter thsn the first act and the 4th Judge also picks Jesse. So two judges who at least know something about music Una Healey and the other man though should be ashamed of themselves. They havent a clue.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

If the Late Late Show was a pet.

It would be brought to the vet and put down.
