Im the same. Used it for a while but it became a pita and when I had to remove it when car dropped into Tesla service centre I never reactivated it.

    You're like a broken record.

Yeah there has been about 7/8 on the facebook group that needed battery replacements and they were always a performance. I haven't seen it mentioned there for the other models

I would bet that none of these thefts were Teslas. Thefts will most likely be for high end luxury brands or modified cars.

But if you have an M3 Highland and Model Y Juniper, you can rest easy.

Tesla updated hardware to support Ultra-Wideband (UWB). Unlike Bluetooth, UWB measures the 'Time of Flight' of the signal. If a theif tries to relay the signal, the delay caused by theirr equipment tells the car the key is too far away, and it will refuse to unlock.

If you have a current Model 3/Y and a newish enough smartphone i.e iPhone 11 (or later) or newer Androids with UWB, switch on 'Nearby Interactions' is enabled in your phones settings.

Have had the dreaded seat adjuster snap on the passenger side of an 2023LR!

Has anyone sourced one of these, preferably more local than China. See plenty online but all seem to be with the lumbar support.

Or has anyone got this replaced by a ranger and at what cost?

Simple job so would prefer to do it myself.

    Thanks

I have my M3 Highland two years this month so i know that the filters need to be changed.

As work will pick up the tab, does anyone know a rough cost for a Ranger to do this and can I ask them to do a check of brake fluid, pads etc. Basically, to do anything that's beyond me (which is limited to washer fluid and tyre checks!)?

Or am I better going to my (very trusted) ICE mechanic to do the brakes etc?

    TIA

Put in a service request on the app and find out. There's no obligation to follow through.

From memory the cabin air filter replacement is around 90 beans and the HEPA filter kit is about 150 beans (fitted).

Got mine replaced under warranty just under the 4 year old mark.

I'm considering the M3 standard as my first EV. I have an old car that I'd rather not have to sell myself and the €2,000 bonus trade-in is very compelling - I know I missed a better offer last month. I looked at other EVs but I really liked the suspension and seats of the long range model that I test drove - nice balance of comfort and road-holding. Is there any justification to buying the long range version when it cost so much more than the standard? I have a short commute to work of 20Kms round trip and similar trips at the weekend with some 200km runs and longer trips (anything up to 500kms) on an irregular basis.

You're mad to spend the extra cash... Get the std rwd, it will do everything you need and more... definitely no need for any range anxiety.

There's two or three in inventory atm if you're quick.

A grey one and a black one...

Logged it alright with a €0 cost estimate, to be honest I wouldn't have thought they would be covered, so happy out.

    Thanks

It doesn't seem like you would use the extra range often enough if ever, to justify the €6-8k extra. By all accounts the standard suspension is a big improvement on the earlier versions of the Model 3 albeit not quite as accomplished as the premium setup which is still somewhat on the firm side of comfortable.

If you're in two minds, do not under any circumstances test drive the dual motor.

Inventory one’s are not really in stock. They are arriving by end of May or early June.

This seems to be a new strategy to get more bookings.

    Didn't spot that.... feckers

Had mine replaced twice for free. Third time "I think" it was around the €130 - €140 mark. Then the young one flung her schoolbag in the following day and broke it again!! I haven't fixed it since.

Can't even blame kids, just think with the position of it and being fragile that it is easy to catch it with a foot entering.

To be honest I have it sold (got a good offer and changing to a newer ev for little money) and it is good to be able to show that it is covered at zero cost.

Sorry to raise this again but I began my service request on the app (filter change, brakes and inspection) and it's only giving me options to travel to Dublin, Belfast or England.

How do I get to the Ranger option?

    Thanks!

Log the call which will kick of a message between you and Tesla and then tell them you want a Ranger service, I usually pick Dublin then the message to Ranger

Anyone have problems with the phone charging pads ??

I logged a service request yesterday, when I put the phone on the pad to charge, it shows that it starts charging, but spends the whole journey starting and stopping, so when you get to the end of the journey, the phone only has half of the charge you had at the start.

I think that's because the phone gets too hot, and then stops charging. It's a crap design, and I think you will most likely be wasting your time with a service request…

My iPhone does the exact same, I don't bother using them

I agree bring a cable if you want to charge the phone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,857 ✭✭✭rx8

The Model Y I had worked fine, and I have a cable sorted to charge anyway, but it's just a pita that when you leave the phone on the charger pad, it actually horses through the phone battery. Maybe something is not connected properly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,062 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

I have not experienced this, in fact the complete opposite. Yes the phone can get warm, but it never fails to charge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,930 ✭✭✭eagerv

No problems with either my previous 3, or present Y.

Ok, phone gets warm and not very quick which is probably for the better.

Presume you have tried a different phone, in case your phone is the problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 552 ✭✭✭Izy

I turned the charging pad off as soon as it became an option. But it worked well. Phone did get toasty alright.

So I might have posted here before that I drove a demo model 3 in Galway in early January.

My wife has decided it is now time to change her car so she’s going for the Model 3. Unfortunately the standard range one we drive is now not available and to get the same spec it’s about €45k for the LR Red. Due to her usage I’d much prefer a car with an LFP battery but with leather seats etc that is removed from the non premium SR model.

Where is a good place to look for a 1-2 year old highland model?

I will talk to Tesla to see if any of the old Slec SR demos similar to what we drove in January are still available but I guess they are all sold off.

oh and it can’t be white….Grey or wine colour I’m told 🤣

    Thanks
