You can ask as much as you like for a car, what it’s sells for may be a different story though

Yeah saw that, but if you look into them there's lots of reports of them not fitting properly and also would be very tricky to fit despite what YouTube says.

I thought that was obvious in my comment as the asking is not the final. I wouldn’t expect that sort of asking. If I had a car lined up, I’d probably be alright with 23k ish. It’s still a chunk of real depreciation for me, but is a price I would personally jump at if I was looking/buying. Tesla offering just over 20k. Not terrible but slightly low.

    Folks,

Laser Alignment in North County Dublin… Anyone used someone other than HB Dennis to get 3D wheel alignment with a Hunter alignment machine?

Do the likes of these First Stop Tyre places do this?

*I say other than HB Dennis as I've been trying to call them for over a week and neither of the phone numbers on their website have answered once, and left an enquiry on their website and heard nothing back so I assume they are out the door busy!

I have used these before and found them to be excellent.

They use Hunter equipment which was why I went to them.

Passed NCT with flying colours - didn’t expect to as have a squeaky noise on front and back when I go over speed ramps or similar. I assumed it was ball joints or control arm but maybe it just needs WD40. Any thoughts? Car was barely used last year so might be related

    what’s your mileage?
either way I’d be 99% sure it’s your upper control arms because the stick ones are make from dried wheetabix….

My car is getting its 3rd set of upper control arms & front lateral links next week and it’s only on 103,000km!!

I'm currently looking at Model 3's, used from within the last few years. 2021 being the oldest.

Have a question. Is the long range worth it on the Model 3's? I would occasionally do long range trips but maybe only once a month. Besides the bigger battery, AWD and slightly better performance, are there any other differences and is it really worth the extra to spring for a LR? Would I miss it if I didn't?

Thanks Andrew extremely low for a variety of reasons~ 15km. I looked at videos and that seems too harsh of a sound this is like a spring squeak.

Could also be just the bushes have gone. Im on my 3rd set to replace, except at the rear.

Unless the extra performance is worth it, for the few times a year the extra range might add convenience, I don't think it's worth the extra unless you get a really good deal.

Thank you. I will keep my eyes peeled for a decent price then. Would you have any thoughts on something like this RWD, decent deal? - https://www.tynanmotors.ie/vehicle?id=1bwKR

Seems a decent price (on the face of it). Same answer as sk8board gave when you asked the same question on the Tesla Talk forum. At the end of. the day it is a car that is out of warranty and rather than predicting things will go wrong, there are no guarantees ..thats the risk you take and price reflects. If you are uncomfortable with that risk perhaps look to your budget and see if there is any wiggle room to move up through the years. A new Model 3 (and thats the upgraded Highland which in infinitely superior) can be driven away for 37,484

I wouldn't go near a Tesla that's out of warranty. Not a fcuking chance..

I'm forking out ~€2,500 next week to replace the upper control arms, front lateral links, and rear bushings in mine (2020 SR+)

It's only on 103,000km. The front lateral links and upper control arms were already replaced under warranty at about 48,000km, so it's a job I'll be expecting to do every 50,000 or so km.

Not much choice but to get it done at Tesla this time, but after about another 35,000 - 45,000km, I'll buy the parts myself and have them in the attic, then either fit them myself, or get a local mechanic to do it for me when the time comes.

Wow. Good to know. I've heard a fair bit about the control arms and bushings so lots to think about. That said, I'm coming from an E-Tron that has the coolant leak problem that can blow the motor. Front motor being replaced for me as we speak but only 3 months left on warranty after that. Rear motor has the same issue…. 10 grand to fix.

The way I see it is for EV/Battery/Tech, Tesla are light years ahead, but for the standard/regular car bits, they have a lot of catching up to do.

Early Model 3's have a notorious leak in the boot. I have the leak, I paid Tesla €300 to fix it 2 weeks ago, they replaced the boot seal and re-aligned the boot itself, and swore the issue was fixed… Next day there was still water leaking into the boot. A week later it's still leaking.

I wonder is that US build or also replicated on MIC builds, also the Highland is all new suspension so may not be an issue

Could indeed just be the Fremont versions…

Maybe the Chinese made ones last a bit longer..?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 200 ✭✭soverybored1878

Hearing of different things wrong with different versions alright. Seems like they may have nailed it with this new Highland.

Is the build quality better on the chinese versions vs the US?

Resounding yes (having said that, you can get a good build US one also…)

Think there is something wacky going on in this thread (maybe cos its 498 pages). I am going to nuke it and start a new one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,467 ✭✭✭...Ghost...

The only reason I wouldn't get older than a 2022 model is because they are Fremont builds and are not the same quality. This has become clear since the China made models were delivered both immediately and over the longer term.

I posted my own car yesterday (2022) for a fair price. I've got a lot of interest with three wanting to view today and two of those were definite sales, no haggling once I explained the price is the price. One chap was offering to pay more than the asking after I told him I have taken a deposit. 500?….1000? So there is definitely interest in them if they are China made, properly advertised, reasonably priced and having warrant is a big bonus.

Anyway, deposit taken. Car is held for the buyer.
