How was Kamala Harris a brutal choice compared to convicted felon who lost a civil case for sexual assault, had numerous bankruptcies and failed business and dodged the draft with a completely spurious reason while calling soldiers that died in wars 'suckers and losers'? It was her weird laugh, wasn't it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,518 ✭✭✭trashcan

But the thing is, none of it was true, and that should have been plainly obvious to anyone with half a brain. Remember some of the things Trump said during the campaign - schools were carrying out transgender operations on kids without their parents consent, immigrants were eating cats and dogs. I'm sorry, if people took him seriously after just those two examples then there are only two options in my view. Either they are completely stupid, or they ignored all of that because they thought he would be better for their pockets. Either way you cant help coming to the conclusion that there are an awful lot of stupid and uninformed/ill educated people in America.

Or, even ignoring his gigantic personal failings, someone who was very open about acting like a dictator and dismantling the rule of law in the country.

It is an absurd premise. As I have seen it put best on Twitter, it was not like the South Park episode of a "Giant Douche vs a Turd Sandwich". but rather a turd sandwich vs a Caesar salad. Sure the chicken might be dry and it is a bit of a boring meal, but at least you aren't eating ****.

Agreed. It was a brutal choice.

The choice between Harris and Trump was once described in the following way.

Imagine you're on a plane and the air hostess appears with your in-flight food options.

You're asked if you'd like a cheese sandwich or a steaming pile of sh1t sandwich, and some people asked what kind of cheese it was.

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

The "Harris was bad choice" trope. Never expanded on in all these years. But a weird coping mechanism the mildly intelligent Trump fans rolled in behind.

Because she lost. It was obvious after her first difficult interview she’d flop badly. It’s a contest not a beauty or morality show

I think you utterly missed the point. The Republicans were able to label the Dems with all kinds of things and those labels stuck (woke, DEI, soft on immigration etc) and somehow the convicted felon who made a fool of himself in Term 1, won. The Dems were very bad at marketing their brand and destroying the Trump brand. It did not help that Biden was senile but Trump was in and out of court before election and somehow won. Tell me why Harris lost if the choice was so clear cut to you.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Because Americans like to have a boorish extremely senile loudmouth with sexual deviancies representing them globally. Harris failed on all those desirable qualities.

Most people around the world have better standards, America not so it seems.

    Consequences.

The virtuous loop that has seen America underwrite stability in the Middle East in exchange for Gulf states recycling their dollar revenues into US Treasuries has been broken.

The understanding traces back to 1974, when Henry Kissinger struck one of the most consequential financial deals in modern history. Saudi Arabia would price its oil in dollars and park the surpluses in US assets — Treasuries above all. Other Gulf states followed. In exchange, America provided security guarantees and a stable global order.

The arrangement was elegant in its circularity: Oil consumers paid dollars for energy, those dollars flowed to Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, and from there back into Washington’s debt. For 50 years, this petrodollar loop quietly subsidized American borrowing costs and cemented the greenback’s role as the world’s reserve currency.

The US-Israeli war with Iran has fractured this arrangement — at both ends.

Start with the importing side. Since the strike on Iran on Feb. 28, foreign central banks have been net sellers of Treasuries for five consecutive weeks. Holdings at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York have dropped by roughly $82 billion to $2.7 trillion, the lowest level since 2012.

The 10-year Treasury yield, rather than falling on safe-haven demand as it has in every major recent crisis, climbed from 3.9% at the end of February to above 4.4% within weeks. The rates desk at Bank of America Corp. offered a dry summary: “Foreign official sectors are selling US Treasury bonds.”

    and more…

Trump is the Bull and USA/NATO are the China shop.

Putin couldn't win a war against USA or NATO so he did the clever thing and let the bull into the China shop destroying both from within while simultaneously restoring Russian exports and cutting off assistance Ukraine.

Putin is the real winner in all this and he knows Trump is the only one stupid enough to do the job for him.

Trump latching on to the rescue success - he lives leech like - off the effort of others and then claims credit. And of course he and his have god in their back pockets .

Because Reagan and the Republicans destroyed the American education system creating an uninformed electorate with a mistrust of expert opinion, incapable of critical thought and easily manipulated. We're reaping the benefits of this now.

Don't get me wrong, in any other western country, the Democrats would be considered an absolute dose of a party but compared to the moral vacuum that is the Republicans, they appear paragons of virtue.

France has sold the last of the gold it held in the US Federal Reserve.

This website is Radio France Internationale, considered a respected website. RFI is owned by France Médias Monde, a French public state-funded media group,

It was France selling its gold held in the US that was in part a catalyst of Nixon leaving the gold standard.

Along with expressing his delight that the pilots were rescued, he's going to go after the media source [as he said: we know who they are] that first published the downing of the planes accusing them of a national security leak, and the "leaker" of the national security information.

Hegseth is really exploiting Jesus's Easter History pages in describing the events over the three days of the 2nd pilot's journey in Iran after he was shot down.

Were there an almighty, he'd probably be hard pressed not to push the lightning bolt button at the pair of them.

Sweet Mother of God...Hegseth is going full Hollywood here with large dollop of Christian faith bs.…jesus we are truly fucked…what is wrong with these people

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,669 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

Hegseth just proved that Israel shot the plane down with his 'shot down on Good Friday, rescued on Easter Sunday' baloney

    1. What parent would leave their child unattended with him

    2. What sort of senile ramblings is he coming out with

Next up we will get the recounting of the rescue from the person who topped up the planes fuel

Honest question. Will Ireland be left holding the can of US bonds when it's all goes bang ? It would appear a lot of countries are dealing with their exposure to US danger by offloading bonds but based on central bank figures (2025 I think) we haven't budged any.

We were assured by Leavitt et al that he was "working nonstop" all week, and definitely not in hospital getting shot full of whatever combo of meds is keeping the cnut alive 🙄
