John Crerar was also a person of interest IIRC he was from the kildare area and was convicted around 2002 for the rape and murder of a woman in the 70s so he was free all that time. I don't know if he's still alive.

For JoJo Dullard I think the line of thinking is that there’s a political connection (not sure if the person has been named) meaning Crerar would not be chief suspect.

The site there currently searching would be close to where LM lived, and where he was caught with the girl from Carlow

Was this person not the last person to give Jojo a lift?

Both people mentioned above are from the same general parish/area.

Was there not a well known guy from the farming community previously mentioned as having some involvement?

The person you refer to has been named as being a person who came forward as giving Jo Jo a lift on the night in question while she was hitchhiking but the current search seems to be more on the LM angle. The searches could also be part of a strategy to see how various suspects react.

There could also be a difference of opinion within AGS.

Unfortunately I do not have any great hope that this current search will yield any results, based on lack of results in similar cases.

That said, part of the rationale could be part of a media strategy to freak out suspects and see how they react. So, hypothetically, the AGS could have suspects' phones tapped and be watching their movements etc. This would not be admissable but would help in gathering intelligence.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

It’s good to see visible “effort”- regardless of what potential mistakes were made in the past.

I detect a note of scepticism. Or possibly realism.

They said on the news they are searching for items of evidential value. A car was mentioned in another report.

Now I'm no criminal mastermind but if I abducted and killed someone and there was evidence in my car I might bury my car but I wouldn't leave other items (body, victims belongings etc) in the car that will still be identifiable to me.

Graham Dwyer thought he was covering his tracks throwing Elaine O'Haras bag in a reservoir away from where he left her body and it still led back to him, luckily for everyone else, but the chances of that happening must have been minute. He could still be walking among us having never come to the attention of the gardai so chances are there are others out there like him.

I listened to a podcast recently about the murder of Jastine Valdez, also walking home on a summer's evening minding her own business, also in Co Wicklow.

What was bizarrely coincidental about the findings in the Elaine O'Hara murder case was that her bag was found on Sept 10th 2013 in Vartry Reservoir (following a drought) and three days later her skeleton was discovered over 20km away near Killakee - both discoveries made inadvertently and independently of each other.

Why would you bury a body in a car? Isn't the car metal more likely to show in any probe than a body. You see someone bury a car and don't report it for 30 years?

Do the authorities know where LM is at present if they need to speak with him? I know he had been living in Barcelona for a while but that was years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,052 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

The Guards interviewed him in England back in 2018, not sure if he is still there though.

I'd imagine that whatever country he is living in now the police there are keeping tabs on his movements.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,218 ✭✭✭julyjane

I could be wrong but I think because he's served his sentence and not on parole the guards aren't obliged to know where he is. Now maybe they're watching him as he's a person of interest but they probably wouldn't reveal that information.

Even if someone was burying a car for whatever reason, if it was ever registered to them or someone they had a connection with such as a family member or employer they'd be Irelands dumbest criminal if they buried it with a body in situ but if they were in a hurry to get rid of it who knows.

One of today's papers saying he buried three cars.

Hard to believe that LM served less than 10 years for a truly vile crime. Our justice system is diseased!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 296 ✭✭Pat734

walshb you're spot on. When you see the sentence handed down by our justice system on the Garda who assaulted his wife in Co Mayo you begin to lose faith in it. Hopefully that is looked at again.

He is apparently in London working as a carpenter. Changed his name by deed poll a few years ago to Charley Doyle . Married to a businesswoman who knows his past history ..no accounting for taste .

I would say UK police have eyes on him .

knows his history.. some these women are actually worse!!!

It's land fill so the thinking would be if no God damn dogooder saw you there, the car would be buried and never discovered

I remember talking to a detective years ago about the Deirdre Jacob case. He said 100% it was LM they have evidence just not enough to convict. He was working on a roof yards from her house as well.

Any update on the search or is it still ongoing?

While I've no idea who you were talking to, I'd take anecdotes from the gardai with a large pinch of salt.
The gardai are still adamant that Ian Bailey is guilty (despite no evidence against him) - while building a case against him, gardai were even telling locals that Bailey was responsible. The gardai were adamant that Martin Conmey, Dick Donnelly, and Martin Kerrigan murdered their relative/neighbour Una Lynskey (again despite the evidence suggesting otherwise) (plus gardai mouthing off to the family & neighbours directly led to the murder of Kerrigan). The gardai were convinced that James Livingstone murdered his wife Grace. And there are loads more examples.
Gardai mouthing off about details of a case to random people are likely to be uninformed muppets looking for attention or if working on a case then should not broadcast details of the case to anyone for fear of being sacked!
