Dsandson, received my megane e-tech iconic on the 19 th Aug,ot a call from the dealer on Friday 15th to say car had arrived, the car is all i expected plus it had Electric seats which i did not expect, any news on yours yet?

Took longer than I expected for an update as I'm going through a work lease company (a salary sacrifice scheme here in the north). It's been pushed back until end of September or start of October. It's due at the import centre in the 22nd September. It's disappointing but not the end of the world.

Glad you're happy with your new car! Yeah the electric seats were on the wish list as the wife and I are quite a different height and it makes things easier. Are they memory as in does it remember the seating position for a number of drivers?

Congrats on the new car. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I am enjoying mine, one of those cars that really grows on you, the longer you own it the more you appreciate just how good it is.

And after over 2 years I know I can depend on it

After two years of ownership has anyone noticed the same gremlins that are affecting the VW ID cars? Or has this ownership experience been pretty much fault-free?

Fault free for me apart from the DC charging issue which they fixed quickly

Have always had no issues with Renault though to be fair. Went from a Kadjar to a Koleos to a Megane plug in hybrid and now the electric Megane. Nothing I can think of with any of them

Infotainment can be glitchy but resolves with a reboot. I've had a couple of warranty issues sorted without quibble. Nothing else to report thankfully.

I wish they you sort my DC charge issue quickly, but zero issues other than that one. Never had a glitch on the infotainment.

zero issues in 2 years, have a service in the next couple of weeks and will ask them to check DC issue but haven't experienced it myself, primarily because i haven't tried DC charging

Dsandson, thanks for your comments, yes you can set the the seats so when you enter the car they are as you last left ,when you turn the car on and close the door the seat will move forward to your driving position each time you enter the car all very nice

    Hope yours turn up soon.

Have ordered a new Megane, Alpine Techno for 261

    Replacing a 231 Megane

Payment remains the same, they covered the shortfall from the price drop

Meanwhile I am still waiting for Renault to deliver parts from France to repair the "DC Charging Impossible" fault in my Megane. Car went into the garage at the start of August. Having had two months with an Arkana (which I hated), I asked the garage to give me back the Megane until the replacement parts arrived. I'm charging at home all the time anyway. If I do need to go on a longer journey, we have 22kw charging or I can borrow my daughters car.

Garage have been very open with me as to why things are taking so long. Since it is a warranty issue, they can only do what they are instructed to do by Renault.

I love the car and see this as just unlucky rather than a bigger issue with the car.

Getting my new etech alpine tomorrow, can't wait !

Problem is I have lost the second key. Anyone any experience of this ? Will they generally charge for the replacement ?

I had key insurance included with my Megane finance for 3 years, worth checking if you got it too. Policy is from Axa

Cant help with the latter but well wear for the new car. I got mine in late November and I love it. Its a bit of a change from an Ioniq 5, but we also have a 22kW Zoe so happy enough with Renault.

It drives really well, with just a little bit of wheel spin leaving junctions. Those alloys are lovely as well!

Oh also got myself a boot liner from The Hatchbag Company. Dear enough but its a great fit, and really easy to install. Its great for putting the dog in the boot.

Thanks ! Yeah need to keep an eye on the power at junctions, my tyres are just at the limit now after nearly 3 years !

I found the key, not a great filing system in this house !!

Looking at used Evs around the 20k mark and to me this seems the best option. It looks great, decent range, great tech with Google built in, has a good warranty - is there anything I'm missing or anyone have any comments to make on it? Probably looking at a 22 or 23 model realistically from up north.

Yeah its a good option. Was in a dealership today looking at scenic with a colleague and saw the Meganes and they are indeed very nice.

Renault infotainment and overall controls are up there with the best at the moment.

Just make sure you get the 60 battery and not the 40.

Theres a few other cars in same price range now with bigger batteries and a bit more range but depends on what you need and want in a car, I wouldn't buy a car for battery size alone

Bought a 241 Techno up North. Delighted with it, one of the nicest cars I've ever owned. The interior is a joy, so nicely designed and practical with physical buttons and everything to hand. Built in Google with voice control makes everything so easy. None of the screen frustration that can be so maddening in some modern cars. If buying up North the UK warranty changed at the beginning of 2023 from 5 years to 3 years. So a late 2022 would be a better bet than an early 2023.

The only other thing to look out for an early cars there was a fault at the factory with seam sealer around the wings and water ingress was noted on some cars. If buying from a Renault dealer asked them for evidence that it either has not been an issue, or if it was it was addressed. Some UK cars also had terrible problems with alarms retrofitted as they come into the country, though this too should long be rectified. Mine has been OK thankfully.

If the tires are original they're bound to be at their limit, 3 years is your lot with most EV's.

Megane owners generally love their cars, lots of character and flair, definitely not a white good like some EV's. Go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Picked up yesterday evening, is a lovely car to drive.

Feels a bit different to drive than my 2023 version but its a joy !

Sorry, what EVs are "white goods"?

They are all far more desirable than their ICE equivalents, and for those that have no ICE equivalents, are usually revolutionary in their field or segment.

    Dacia Spring aside of course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,813 ✭✭✭Ferris_Bueller

Thanks for that - didn't know about the 3 year warranty coming in from 2023! That's a bit of a spanner in the works now as I'd assumed they were all 5 year. How important do people think it is buying a car with warranty remaining on it - it's been a big factor for me identifying cars but maybe I'm over valuing it?

Manufacturers warranty comes with a lot of peace of mind.

I assume it wasn't actually a reference to any specific colour 😅

    Lovely fridge…

I actually really like the design of the cupra.

    Yeah theyre nice

The white goods thing you hear is getting old at this stage.

If it belches out smoke and makes noise it has soul, if it doesnt its a fridge or a washing machine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,987 ✭✭✭✭Flinty997

    I also like engines.

I liked the Mégane in the showroom also. Really nice interior and great space in the back.
