What a team Dingle are. Back to back games that they had No Right to win from being so far behind…. but they found a way nonetheless.

I suppose An Daingean deserve it. Considering the great comeback and were wrongly denied a penalty.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Ballyboden will have to go and buy another few players, delighted for them

What a win for Dingle. That was just brilliant.

The county lads really tore Boden apart from the 2nd half. Class players

Annoyingly they were great, hopefully they won’t play as well when wearing the green and gold. Making 2 pointers look effortless, fantastic movement/awareness as well.

Why should the FRC look at it, why is it a terrible punishment. The whole point of the new rules is to prevent tactical fouling and players slowing down games especially in tge last 4-5 minutes as teams search for equaliser whether its a goal.or a point. I did not see the incident if it was a referee error well and good but more than likely twas a foul in an attempt to slow the game and an attempt to slow play by gamesmanship. The new rules are to punish that.

A lot of club coaches are still coaching the old rules. If you foul hand back the ball if you have it if not retreat. If you do not concede the foul you will not be punished

We will agree to disagree and I'll be amazed if it is not looked at for change. Absolutely no need for this to be 2 points, given the very subjective nature of the decisions made around it anyway.

Why did Paul Geaney not start? He looked (very) sharp when he came on.

    Great game of football.

They got three 2 pointers including one from a free. That would be a normal return, with most games having more wides than scores from 2 pointer efforts. Ballyboden had 3 bad wides near the end when shooting from the 2 pointer zone.

    "All-Ireland Club SFC semi-final: Dingle 1-26 (1-3-20) Ballyboden St Enda’s 1-24 (1-2-20) (after extra-time)"

The decisions are not subjective. The team that is after losing a turnover or contested ball seeks to slow the game down so they foul. That a free. However previous to the new rules everything was done to slow down the free because you only coceded 15 meters, it had got to the stage where player's would concede a second 15 meters to slow the game further.

In the new rules that is punished by bringing forward the ball 50 meters. However the free taker has the option of taking it outside the arc if the free is taken inside the arc as the orginal free was technically a two pointer

There is a simple way for team to prevent this do not impede in ANY way after conceding a free

In my opinion the decisions are subjective or can you define "prompt and respectful manner". Can you give an approximate time limit by which the ball should be returned?

Should any allowance be made for a payer being on the ground with opposition falling over him?

I see no consistency in it's application and it largely is dependent on how quickly the opposition can jump on a player after the whistle is blown.

Again I dont really mind all of the above, there is a lot of subjectivity around the application of GAA rules, but getting 2 points is way too excessive a punishment for being deemed to be milliseconds too late in presenting the ball. Treated the same as if a forward with a scoring opportunity was hacked down 40 yards from goal.

I would be very confident this will change in the next review.

If a player is hacked down its a black card offence. If you deny an obvious goal scoring chance its a penalty.

The new rules have speeded up the game, they have made it much more exciting. I do not think they will tinker with any of the new rules

They have tinkered with them already and will again.

New rules have largely been great, that's not my problem. This rule has a punishment disproportionate to the crime and should be and I think will be tweaked.

Scotstown and Brigids should be well met? Expecting a close game.

I think the final might be very one sided though. Hate finals like that as a neutral.

For the life of me why can't they do triple headers instead of the '2 senior finals in each code as a double bill'

A lot of the supporters will most likely head off after the Hurling final

Scotstown are a funny team. They look superior to most of the teams they play but they have a self destruct button they throw whenever things are going their way. Some of the decision making from even their IC players is farcical. Entertaining to watch their games but their supporters must be pulling their hair out.

Kieran Hughes is like a bull in a China shop at times.

Hes one of the players i was talking about. Immense talent and can pull off some unbelievable moments but he'll undo it all with stupid simple mistakes.

Good victory by St Bridgits, great displine, no stupid frees conceded outside the arc and no stupid 50m advantages conceded. Hopefully a good open final. Both teams can play football.Scotstoqn were incapable of bridging the gap when St Bridgets opened that five point lead before half time

Scotts town will rue a lot of butchered chances in that last 10

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,366 ✭✭✭Jizique

Better chance of a one-sided hurling final than the football - can see Dingle pressing up on kickouts, Brigids keeper didn't look like an intercounty one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,487 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Do any of us really know enough about either team to say it will be one sided or not. It's not like these two are part of that small gang of super clubs that we all get to see plenty of.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,114 ✭✭✭keeponhurling

Some fantastic defending by them, McGrath, Trundle, the Stacks, really good defenders. Two wonderful blocks on the goal line in the 2nd half. One in the first half too, although wasn't sure if that was a foot block.

And as you say, not giving away any cheap fouls.

It'll take a good team to beat Brigid's.

Brigids were in final 2 years ago and won it in 2013

If anyone was watching over the last 15 years, they are never too far away. I think Senan Kilbride has won 6 Connacht titles, as well as playing in a couple of finals. In fact, many of their biggest problems in recent years has been getting out of the Roscommon championship

Bridget's biggest asset today was discipline, they didn't give Beggan chances from soft long range frees and Scotstown were reduced to low % pot shots from distance that are hit and miss at the best of times.

Could be a good final, both squads are strong: Daingean may have a few more superstars but it was the more unsung players that made huge interventions today, the likes of Nugent, Trundle (who struggled at times) and both Conor Hand (who wasn't County standard in 2025 apparently) and Paul McGrath were again consistently good. Kickout would be a worry, Carroll was all over the shop in the last 20 minutes, missed his targets several times and resorted to punting it out on top of Beggan and Hughes late on.
