Definitely. They are a far better side than Sars.

All that nonsense about a fairly harmless article from Anthony Daly was just them leaving no stone unturned for motivation.

Really poor start to 2nd half for Kilcoo here. Even at 5 down at HT I thought they were in a very good position, but they have been very poor so far in 2nd half

The ref just fucked over Scotsown there.

He played 5 minutes extra time when there was only 3, he gave Kilcoo way too much time to get a final shot off.

There was an injury and a substitution during the first three minutes of injury time so there was always going to be more time played, but I still think he went way overboard with injury time.

Though it was poor management of the extra man by Scottstown towards the end.

There was a man injured lying on the ground, there was always going to be more time.

But Scotstown make it hard for themselves.

Brilliant from Scottstown to pick themselves back up after the disappointment in normal time. Though I'm baffled as to why Kilcoo would willingly choose to play against the gale force wind for the first half of extra time. Surely playing with the wind and building up a lead for the first time in the game and potentially knock Scottstown's confidence would have been a far better decision. As it happened, they handed Scottstown another big half time lead to hang onto for the final 10 minutes.

Beggan is a huge weapon in winter football with the 2 point frees.

Delighted for Scotstown, the only team that came to play. Made it hard on themselves with silly decisions like the push on the sideline that advanced the ball and ended up in a 2 pointer and going for goal at the end when tapping it over would have given them the 2pt cushion. Kilkoo spent more time trying to kill the game than play and it cost them. There should be a rule to stop lads from standing still soloing to themselves. Its one of the most unattractive things in the sport.

The venues for the SF semi finals have been decided. Ballyboden v Dingle in Cork, St Brigids v Scotstown in Cavan. Paddy Power making Ballyboden strong favourites, including to win the competition outright.

BB 1/6 Dingle 5/1. St Brigids 4/6 Scotstown 17/10. With Scotstown playing so many draws, that might be a good bet 15/2.

    Outrights BB 4/6, St B 13/5, Scotstown 5/1, Dingle 12/1.

I wouldnt be so quick to condemn them myself.

They are acting in self interest.

Players act in self interest all the time. Shane Walsh did it. Why is it a problem for the clubs to do it and not a problem for the players to do it.

There was an issue this year with 3 Fermanagh lads transferring to a Leitrim club, who promptly won the county championship - likely related to this

Three brothers! And their new club won the championship for the first time ever.

I believe the only reason there playing with the Leitrim club is they fell out with their home club.

It was a motion proposed by one club and didn't pass.

Hope we get 2 good games for the club semi finals today. With all rain, won't be much free flowing hurling.

Slaughtneil are well used to trying to break the semi final hoodoo, but equally loughrea were only pipped by na fianna last year. Expecting a very close game with loughrea to win by 2 or 3 points.

Ballygunner are rightly all Ireland favourites and carry high expectations of themselves. However they've only won 1 semi final with all the munster successes.

St martins are on a high after their leinster win and are a well balanced, fit team. The o Connors up front are playing great stuff at the moment. Might be a step too far today though, so I'll go ballygunner by 4 points.

Loughrea with the old style jersey

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,514 ✭✭✭Jack Daw

Complete nonsense that the Connacht and Ulster champions get to play against each other in the semi final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,531 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Why so? Its rotated every year, Ulster played Munster last year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,514 ✭✭✭Jack Daw

Think Leinster and Munster should be kept separate

Connacht doesn't have a provincial championship and Ulster is clearly the weakest of the 4

Seems unfair for St Martins and Ballgunner to have to battle against high class opposition to get this far and then get the toughest draw whereas Loughrea dont have ro play a provincial championship and get the easiest draw.

Galway champs should be in Munster or Leinster

They could then rotate byes into the All Ireland Final each year

Year 1- Munster Winners into AI Final, Semi Final Ulster vs Leinster

Year 2- Leinster Winners into AI Final, Semi Final Ulster vs Munster

Year 3- Ulster Winners into AI Final, Semi Final Leinster vs Munster

Slaughtneil playing well but that goal was a suckerpunch

Lads, ye are trying very hard to be annoyed. The system is perfectly fine.

    Don't feed the WUMs.

And I just get the feeling Loughrea will get more if they really need to. Something about them makes me think they can see this out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,078 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Slaughtneil just not good enough when they reach this stage

Think Ballygunner or St Martins could have the name on the cup

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,531 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Loughrea wides keeping it close but if they keep 15 on the pitch they should see it out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,765 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Loughrea weren't long putting them out of site once they got going.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,540 ✭✭✭threeball

Unacceptable to play an all ireland semi final on a pitch that heavy. Parnell is known to get boggy in winter. Should never have been the venue.

Loughrea should have put them away earlier. Slaughtneil were never really in the game. That stupid red will be costly come final day.

Very poor from SN. Didn't show up at all The difference in the sharpness of touch between the two teams was remarkable.

Be interesting to see whether that red card sticks. Ref was saying he swung the hurl and if there is no compelling video evidence to the contrary, then there shouldn't be anything to even discuss but we know how these things play out in the GAA. Loughrea were very, very close to the line a couple of times, particularly in the first half. Their discipline was letting them down badly but they tidied it up in the second.
