There is a pin hole beside the on off switch on the radio/climate area. Paperclip in there for 5 seconds.

Yeah we installed it on my wife's phone last night. Same result. Really weird. On the screen in the car in the top right there is a little symbol saying "kia service off". Not sure if that means anything. I've never noticed it before.

I had this problem, I think! There's a setting in the infotainment, account settings or something that you have to reverify or something. I'll have a look and repost👍

Thanks that would be great. In the car when I select sports or weather I now get a message saying " an additional subscription is required, please subscribe to the service in the Kia connect app". This used to work but I haven't tried it in a long time. Maybe it's been like that for a while. The car is going to be 3 years old on the 18th of January. I wonder if somehow my Kia connect has been shut off in error? I should have it for 7 years and it does say that under the activation page. 2030.

EDIT. Fixed it!! So I had to hit "reconfigure" under my subscription in the Kia connect section in the car. Then the sports and weather stuff all worked and now the remote stuff is back working! Thanks for the tip off bootser!

Will leave this post up as is in case others have this issue.

Currently looking at a 2022 EV6 Earth model. Does the Earth model come with the ambient lighting?

Picked up a 2022 EV6 Saturday, loving it so far.

Anyone know best place to buy genuine accessories for it? Looking to buy official all weather mats but seems to be all UK shops, assume there would be customs charges on importing them.

@miskyboyy : I have genuine rubber mats and genuine boot mat that will be for sale in the next week or so. Overall in good condition, about 3 years old.

3 times now over the last few weeks I've had to do this reconfigure thing in the Kia connect in the car in order for the app to talk to the car. Never had to do it before now. Anyone else having issues?

My car just failed its NCT because the headlight was out of focus. Both headlights were replaced in September 24 due to cracks on the plastic. They also gave me an advisory for the two codes. It's due for a service in less than 2,000km, so I will probably get everything done at the dealership all at once.

Doesn’t say much for whatever KIA dealer did the warranty work ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 152 ✭✭Cristobaal

    It was Kenny Galway.

I had NCT done before Xmas, but scheduled a service beforehand. I had drivers side headlamp replaced in 2023 for same reason and it was never set up correctly either. Seemed like it was set up for LHD as beam was aimed too far left. I asked them to check aim for NCT and they confirmed it was off.

I have a new 261 EV6, and while it's lovely to drive, all the 'safety' noises are ridiculous. I know the short cuts for turning off the speed warnings and the lane assist, so I do them, that's fine easy to do. The 'eyes on the road' on though is more annoying. That can only be turned off via the touchscreen after finding where it is, but even turning that off doesn't stop the car telling me I need to 'take a break' regularly, which I thought it would.

Is there a way to do that specifically? Any online searches seem to be based on an older version of the software with slightly different options. I don't know why it does it so often for me, I do look at the road, honestly.

Sorry I have to ask some stupid questions, as this shouldn't really happen all the time....

Do you wear glasses, sunglasses, anything else funny with you eyes, i.e are you related to One Eyed Willy (Goonies), no offense..🥸

Is there any plastic protection on the sensor, you need to pull off, not sure where the sensor is on the EV6, or anything else blocking it, if it behind the steering wheel and you drive with you hands on top of the wheel?

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,937 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

I don't wear glasses driving, unless it's sunny, but since I've only had the car 3 weeks, that hasn't been much of an issue yet! I do get the warning at times that my arm is blocking the sensors view if I'm holding the wheel in the centre at the top with my right arm, but that's different and seems unrelated to my main gripe. I have 2 eyes, and nothing cross eyed related to report. Assuming the sensor is the little bump at the back of the dash under the windscreen there doesn't appear to be any plastic over it.

I don't want to overegg it, it doesn't happen every 5 mins or anything, but on a 2 hour drive it might happen 3-4 times perhaps, and it beeps multiple times, not just a delicate little ding. Maybe it just doesn't like the way I drive or something and I glance out the side or wherever a little too often for it's liking, but I don't believe I am doing it an excessive amount. I check mirrors fairly regularly, but that's presumably an expected behaviour when driving a car!

I called the Kia dealership to schedule a service and asked about the NCT fail because of the incorrect light focus. They said they could readjust it when I drop off the car for service, and it would cost 50 euros. I scheduled the service and went to my local mechanic, and he said it was only a tiny bit off and he wouldn't fail it. He corrected it just in case and didn't charge me at all. Basically, it was a 5-minute job.

The service will cost me 300 euros because the brake fluid needs to be replaced since the car has 110kkm.

For this past couple of weeks, I actually think I got the car serviced. I can't turn on climate control remotely. It just says check vehicle status..any ideas?

Was discussed a few weeks ago in this thread. There are posts above from the 3rd Jan onwards that discuss what worked for people.

Thanks. I saw those posts at the time. Totally forgot. Reconfigure in the car did it.

So i have been back and forth regarding Apple Car Play with various dealers.

I tried with the dealer i bought it from. They replaced the USB port, and that made no difference. They were about 200 km from me, so i didn't follow up with them. I didn't have a chance to follow up on it until the first service after buying it.

I went to a main dealer for a service and told them about the CarPlay issue, emphasising that it works initially, but then cuts out. I went back to collect it, and they told me that it connected fine. I re-explained that it always works fine initially, but it cuts out after about 10 minutes. They said they would need to book it in for a separate appointment, and potentially one of the mechanics would have to bring it home to see if it happened over a long drive. They also said that i needed an official Apple usb cable. I spent €25 on the cable, but again didn't get around to bringing it back to them.

For the next service i went to a different main dealer. Same thing again, told the lady at the desk, afterwards was told that it worked fine. I asked to speak to the mechanic. In fairness, he was very good and suggested that i take a video. So i went to the car that evening with a second phone to video proceedings! Plugged in my own phone with the apple cable, showed it activating car play, sat there videoing the screen for ~12 minutes and, as usual, CarPlay just cut out. I sent the video to the mechanic along with all the links from here and kia fora where people described the issue. He contacted Kia, who told him to bring it in for testing. Back in again, they had the car for half a day and have finally acknowledged that they need to change the wiring.

It feels like a desperate waste of my time, when Kia must be aware that there are loads of people having the same problem, but yet they make us jump through all of these hoops to get it fixed. I am now waiting for them to get the parts in, and then i will have another appointment to get it fixed.

Meanwhile, the wipers have started acting up. They seem to get stuck on the windscreen mid-wipe, or if i turn them off, they just stop half way across the windscreen. I changed the blades, but it made no difference. But i know that when i raise this, they will ask if they are genuine kia wiper blades and if not, i will have to pay for those, and go off and get a video of the situation before they will consider it. Then there will be a test to see if there is an issue, and another appointment to get it fixed.

It is a nice car to drive, but tbh, i am finding all of these niggly issues a pain in the a5$e and i would not be encouraged to buy a kia the next time around.

My insurance premium has gone up 30% this year. I have a 232 Kia. Do I need to get breakdown assist as we have it with Kia already?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭ffocused

Kia assist is only valid for 3 years from first registration.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 449 ✭✭Dozz

ffocused is correct. Only for 3 years from first registration date.

I would get it as the ICCU issue happened with mine just before Christmas and I had to arrange for a recovery truck to bring it to the nearest KIA garage.

I didn't have the roadside assistance cover on my insurance.

You don't want to be trying to sort that out if it happens to you down the country somewhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,972 ✭✭✭Raoul

Yeah. I'll be getting it on the insurance. I was left at the side of the road twice with the ev6.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 181 ✭✭Trondheim

My experience with insurance roadside assist is that they will tow you to the nearest garage, not nearest Kia garage.

Anyway, i would still get it, but just be aware it isn't a full solution. Although AA is the same in my experience - they get a third party two truck and you are at their mercy regarding where you get towed.

How are people finding the EV6 refresh? Is there any major differences i havent been in one of the newer ones yet. I'm toying with the idea of going EV this year as i'm driving an 11 year old Ford Mondeo. I already have solar and charger installed as my wife has an electric so will probably take the jump in the next year or so.

Looking at the EV6, Mazda 6e, Hyundai Ioniq 5 or dare i say it Tesla Model 3.

The 0% APR for the EV6 has it top of the list plus i love the look of the car.

Very minor changes really from the older version, bigger battery too uts now 84kwh isnt it? Same as ioniq 5

The ev6 would be the pick of what you have listed for me, although I've never seen a mazda never mind sit in one.
