Currently on the merry go round of trying to get KIA Assist to organise a flat bed to a KIA dealer and get a replacement car.

    Not looking good…

Best of luck with it. I got a flat tyre on the M50 last Saturday and Kia assist got the truck (AA) out but there were no garages open so had to get them to bring me home. I then rang them on the Monday to pick it up again to bring me to the garage. My 3 year free Kia assist runs out in January, it was my first time to use it!

So I'm out of cover on the KIA Assist so they wont cover a truck to the garage or a courtesy car. 🙈

Insurance wont cover the transport to the garage or provide a courtesy car unless I was making a claim 🙈🙈

Local KIA garage are going to take it in, but cant guarantee that they will get a look at it before Christmas to diagnose the problem….. and they also have no courtesy cars available 🙈🙈🙈

    Happy Christmas everyone……

Sorry to hear you bad news, but where does the KIAs famous 7 year warranty fit into this story?

No recovery, no replacement car, no idea when it will be fixed!

I sure this is not just KIA, but it does highlight issues with the small print.

On you insurance, do you get any AA cover as part of you policy, this should be separate to any claims.

    Hopefully you get sorted soon.

    @ForestFire thanks for that.

In fairness if its the ICCU I expect KIA to cover that under the warranty and hopefully a replacement car for the duration of the repair timeline.

The KIA Assist is only in place for 3 years which I didnt know about, but given the probable issue and the time of year etc I would have expected some form of good will gesture from them.

Thankfully we have a second car and should make things work but there you go…

Could you limp along until KIA can look at it by charging the 12v each night with a battery charger and carry a NOCCO type booster pack with you in the car as insurance in case it doesn’t last the day ?

@joe1303l thanks for the suggestion. I got it transported to the garage at lunch time so will have to play the waiting game now.

F*ck. Considering a 232 EV6. Is this fault with all of them or only first batch of deliveries?

It's only a small percentage of cars. I think I've seen Hyundai/Kia quoting a number like 1% but I've seen estimates suggesting it might be as high as 5%. It's by no means guaranteed to happen.

We have a 221 with 60k km - no issues whatsoever (knock on wood!).

Same here, 221 with 106kkm and no issues. Hopefully I will not spoil it by saying that 🙏🤞

As previous posters have said, it is a known issue and always a possibility. I got mine in January 2022 and never had an issue and am trading it in for Hyundai Ioniq 6 next month which has the same ICCU. I would treat it as something that might happen but not to lose sleep over it. Similar to something like the PSA 1.2 Puretech engine issues. It may happen but is far from guaranteed, but at least if it does it’s not a catastrophic failure like a combustion engine that eats itself.

I don't think lots of fast charging helps either?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 449 ✭✭Dozz

Mine was used the grand total of 6 times on a fast charger....

Fair enough, you were just unlucky then.Had an Ioniq 5 myself for 2 years and it was flawless.I take it warranty will cover the repairs- some confusion above?. I,m flabbergasted personally that Hyundai/Kia haven't eliminated this problem still- Definitely not a good look for a huge company!. Good luck going forward .👍

Just a quick update. KIA are playing a blinder here and have made a car available to me until it gets sorted, which I really appreciate.

Looks like its the ICCU unit

Estimated range is based on recent trip efficiency. You should be able to see recent trip efficiency in EV menu on "radio". Nothing looks wrong in those readings.

Bosch Aerotwin are highly regarded but price around as some huge variance on price with some vendors.

Anyone have recurring issues with the "Ready" light not coming on when the car starts? If I turn the car off and back on it usually sorts it but not always on the first restart.

    Anyone come across this?

It works for me, but I had to log in again since I was signed out, even though I used the Kia App yesterday.

working fine for me. I have had issues with it in the past and deleting and reinstalling app usually fixes it on iPhone.

My tip is to install it on a second device so you can check both when an issue crops up. If only one broken then you know it’s a local issue on your device.

How did you reset the head unit? Is there a little reset button?
