For the next few months, I’d be throwing all my solar into the battery to ensure you’re not caught short of an evening. If we happen to get a glorious day and it looks like the battery will fill, you can always manually discharge for an hour.
You can schedule your evening discharge right up to 2am, when it’ll switch to charging.

Incorrect. I took €900 credit back from Energia this year. Quick phone call.

My Energia contract is almost up. Pinergy seems to be a very good option.

    Way to be selective.
If you’d read the other posts, you’d see that’s what I was told when I rang them myself before switching to Pinergy.
They’ve obviously changed their ways in the interim, but that was the case when I rang /posted.

Hello. I don't know much about Pinergy.

Is the same as switching to any other energy provider? No extra hardware needs to be installed?

Also I would be looking for similar to energia ev drive plan. Is there a high usage limit ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,366 ✭✭✭Soarer

Pinergy are the same as everyone else ie. no special hardware required. They are prepay though, so if you’re registering, make sure you select the smallest household available as you’ll have to pay circa. €300 per month for the first 3 months until they get a read on your usage. Don’t worry, you can withdraw some of that again afterwards.
They also have an EV tariff, which is nightly between 2am and 5am. Price is 5.5c per kWh in this window. They also purchase from you at 25c per kWh. And there are no limits bar your inverter capacity.

Same as any other supplier no special requirements..the only thing with this tariff its level pay do they average out your usage over the year. They do reevaluate it every few months based on your usage. But otherwise just a regular smart tarriff

Edit there is no usage limits.

It would be more "level pay" than "prepay"

Just so people are clear it's not a card/prepay meter etc.

No limit. You can buy as much as you want, the same fixed price of 5.99c / kWh applies (incl VAT)

I wish I had 3 phase or a much higher MIC than my 12kVA so I could buy more. The more you buy, the more profit you make

has anyone switched away from pinergy then tried to switch back following year? i had hassle signing up again as it wouldnt allow me use the same email.. had another one i used but annoying.. also tried adding my missus to the account with her email and same issue.. she needs a new email to.. can they delete old account info? should be some way id have thought?

Eir have a similar outdated system, pain.

Another idiosyncrasy of theirs, with them since June and have €1600 in credit, 900 of that is the 3xmonths of level pay, they still take the fiver every bill even though the account is in credit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,788 ✭✭✭micks_address

yep and of course the min 200 credit you have to leave on the account.. they were also at pains to point out the contract is 12 months as opposed to 24 thats mentioned on the web site.. thats a typo apparently

Ive been with Energia for 3 years.

Ive withdrawn over €1500 on 3 different occasions over those 3 years. Zero problems, 2 minute phone call and cash in my bank acc in a few days

    Fair play to you.
I was just reiterating what I had been told by Energia. And I wasn’t the only person that was told that either.

I’m delighted Energia are giving cash back. Everything that helps consumers is fine by me.

    Must be.
I’d not heard about it until @SolarFun mentioned it.
We could always try it and see. Worst case is they say no.

Is the refer a friend for 150 euro not solely for signing up to their solar install business as opposed to just joining them for electricity supply?

If it seems too good to be true...

Just worth noting here, I signed up with Pinergy 8 weeks ago, have a 15kWh battery, just got a notification to say the original €329 level-pay amount has been dropped to €111. I was expecting 3 monthly payments of €329 before a change based on the experiences of others, but only made two payments in the end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,366 ✭✭✭Soarer

    That's good.

Have they taken the first payment of €111 yet? 'Cause I seem to remember they told me my rate was dropping before the 3rd higher payment was taken.
