Somebody in another thread said it's only their day rate was going up (from around 37c to 40c). Off peak rates and FIT rates are staying the same.

This is what they released. It's a bit unclear what is changing especially with standing charge listed twice.

They are the same as when I opened the thread.

Guys I've had no problems getting any credit out of Energia since i've been with them, now you do have to email them and ask them to pay any credit on the account back but no issues to date, for sure it ain't their money!

New prices at the bottom of the page… don’t stop scrolling.

Mainly is 10% increase for the EV tariff from 13th October to 5.99 and 41.77 vs the current 5.45 and 37.04.

Daily PSO seems down from 11.57 to ~7c so your first 9 units of EV time would be the same.

They obviously keep the FIT in 25c because that never goes up. And that are the good news. 😎

Interesting, so customer services straight up lied that the night rate is not going up.

I missed that at the bottom of the page. New rates below. Standing charge and FIT remain unchanged.

I switched over to Pinergy yesterday as renewal with BG night rate was far too high in comparison.

Just noticed one other thing the break of contract fee has changed.

That per month extra fee is real sneaky

I don't think its all that bad..its better for people in most cases...hardly anyone is going to break contract in the first couple of months...where its better is coming to the end of your contract and you need to move. My BG contract is up in 3 weeks and ideally I would have liked to have signed up last week before any rate hikes but having to pay 50 for breaking contract for 2 or 3 weeks early stopped me. Now I'd only have to pay 11 bucks..

If you are with BG you can leave them now without penalty. It was in the price increase email.

Just another update on my switch to Pinergy which is still going through. In the app it now shows based on signing up on a 1 person household my first level pay payments will be €252 per month.

Another quick update I received a call from an agent in Pinergy to run through the terms and conditions. I was told the break fee would be €50 and I should be switched over within 5 days.

I've been with Pinergy since 5 minutes after I got a smart meter over 2 years ago. Same experience as the others:

The level pay payments they want seem random and start with a few €300 a month months. But you can get credit payments whenever you want, I just requested another 4 figure one today. Could easily take 3-4 weeks though and sometimes nothing happens. Which is ridiculous as IBAN payments should never take longer than 1 working day. Should be 1s of course, but banks are always decades behind with their tech

The savings are obviously enormous with Pinergy. If you both buy and sell many MWh per year (and never buy at the high rage), it could easily make you €1000 better off than the next best deal (Energia I think at the moment)

Just a quick question do Pinergy apply the FIT every month to the account?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭tnegun

Yes it's paid monthly, it usually arrives a day or so before your monthly statement.

Just found a good comparison site for people with solar etc.

When I entered my system and go for average usage Pinergy came back the best.

    image.png

Also when I uploaded the CSV file from ESB it came back with my current plan as all of my usage is currently on Saturday due to the free time I am using.

Yes thats the main downside of these comparison tools - its based on historical data. therefore if new plan is cheapest between 2am and 6am and you've never used much electricity at that time of day it may not find the best tariff

EnergyPal.ie does allow you to modify the data to simulate different usage

The monthly contract break fee has been there since I signed up over three years ago with pinergy. Out of contact for last couple years so I could technically leave now without the fee but absolutely zero reason for me to leave them

Just signed up for Pinergy last week and my usage is now showing in the app. Where should I see my export data as it is not currently in the app ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭tnegun

It doesn't show export, I use my inverters sofware or the ESBNs smart data portal to keep an eye on it.

Just to give an update on my move. I am still waiting to move over and have been speaking to customer service a few times.

They are saying it keeps getting rejected after they submit the request to ESB networks.

I signed up in mid september and it went through in about 3 days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭tnegun

Keep at them I'd a similar problem last January, I'd to call them several times and it was the same issue. I eventually asked the agent to escalate it as they were about to take a second months payment and I was still with the old supplier, it went through a few days after that.

Got a €1400 payment into my bank account from Pinergy this week 😀

Wasn't the first payment this year either. I found that emailing requesting the refund was quicker (for the payment to be made) and more reliable than ringing them. Previous refund requests by phone have gone "lost" in the past

Called Pinergy to sign up last week and waited a few days, went through all the T&Cs, gave them my card details etc got no confirmation email

Anyway called them yesterday to check on my switch over and they never heard of me of me before😁....

Went through the whole signing up process again and this time I got the confirmation email straight away...

    Just my little story

Yeah fairly typical result of some phone convos with Pinergy. They seem to not have happened 😂 I guess signing up online via Bonkers or the like is more reliable. I found emailing them also more reliable than phone calls.

I spoke to Two agents this morning, one called which I spoke to yesterday to say my switch was in still in progress then 30 minutes later another rang back that I spoke with last week said everything has gone through successfully which I doubted based on the previous call.

When I called back this evening to get clarification they could not find anything related to my MPRN, address etc. After further checking my account was located and I am still in purgatory as they await some magic code from ESB networks.

The staff are great and you get connected in seconds but behind the scenes it's a shambles.

I just want to get full confirmation that I am moved across to start night charging.

Hopefully doesn't affect residential customers but pinergy about to announce redundancies today. Seems to be suggesting now to do with solar install side of things but less confident now of such a small business model surviving long term

From the article - Pinergy is owned by a large Japanese multinational. Wouldn't worry too much about their electricity business. They are generally quite profitable. Although Pinergy makes a large loss on customers like yourself and myself 😂
