Liverpool are turning into as big a basket case as us at the moment. Chelsea is Chelsea. They also have a lot of competition for midfield. Real Madrid I'd be surprised with to be honest. I think the only thing that's going to hold is back is price.

They'd probably challenge for the league, Serie A is full of terrible teams

I've no confidence in this United team.

If they put in another poor, sloppy performance they can lose to anybody. The likes of Wolves or Grimsby included.

I don't even feel like I want to watch the game tonight - which isn't a good sign.

will be interesting to see what he goes with up top - I reckon Mbeumo, Mount and Cunha.

I'm going for a competent but dull 0-2 win tonight. We're not great but Wolves are terrible.

If we lose, Amorim should go immediately - I don't think he's doing enough to warrant a contract extension, so his days are numbered anyway.

A draw tonight would be my prediction. We are that bad.

Anything but a win and Amorim should be out the door with a backpack big Ange style. Shouldn't even be left on the bus

Aside from new signings or systems, we need a coach that can motivate the players.

Amorim cannot afford another lifeless performance from his team. This could be his last game if they lose.

I'm going for a 2-0 Wolves win, just has to be us they'll get their first win against.

I don't think he'll be sacked even if we lose (as I said above, he absolutely should be sacked)

There seems to be some disagreement between INEOS and the Glazers from what I've read. INEOS want to stick with their man, the Glazers don't want 3 consecutive years with no CL because it affects their dividends.

I honestly don't give a damn about the Glazers or INEOS, or whatever their views are. I just want to see United win and compete.

And to be honest, as bad as the Glazers are and have been for the club, and it goes without saying they've been an unmitigated disaster, if INEOS persist with a manager, then that manager had best start showing he can coach a team. And right now, after a year of Amorim, we're in the same boat as when he took over a year ago. The longer we keep playing like we are under Amorim, the worse it looks for INEOS, especially after the Ten Hag cock up. The Glazers are right here, even if it's in their own cynical money-bleeding way, we can't persist with a manager that can't get us towards CL football, and Amorim doesn't seem to have any notion how to coach this group of players.

The recent run of form (starting after 11 months in charge) has been very welcome, and we're not in a bad position given the way the league is going, but massively inconsistent from half to half never mind game to game, and for the most part, bar a few games like Liverpool, has been lacklustre and devoid of quality and intensity. In all honesty, Mbuemo has been the only one delivering consistently and has been brilliant for us, and he's gone off the boil in the last few games.

The league this year is very open in the top half. Any type of loss tonight would see us on 22 points after 15 games, and at a minimum, even goal difference. A win sees us jump to sixth with 25 points. It's that type of league campaign, any win at all can see you jump a number of places.

But we need to start seeing a lot more consistency and control. Right now we see very little, and looked poorly coached. You'd imagine that in the second half of the season, things are going to become more difficult to get results, especially against teams going for the European spots. You'd be worried that obvious lack of improvement will manifest in another run similar to last year, maybe not as bad, but I don't see where the results are going to come from when the performances are this all over the place and lacking cohesion and direction. It shouldn't be this case after a year in charge.

They should beat Wolves tonight, based on Wolves been the worst side in the PL for a long time now, but it really has to improve, and I just don't see how or where that's going to happen under this coach. Granted we need investment (especially in midfield) in the squad to push on as a team, but we need someone who can manage and coach that investment, and we've seen none of that from this manager. And I don't think we should be investing in his vision, seeing as the team can't play to his vision after over a year in charge, it would be wasted money similar to the giving Ten Hag 200m only to sack him weeks later.

A loss tonight and he just has to go, even INEOS can't be that loyal to a cause clearly lost. Luckily for Amorim, United will probably win and he'll continue until the end of the season. But at this stage, it's clear he's not up to the job. The fact that fans are even thinking about possibly losing to Wolves given their own horrific form is an indictment in itself.

FA Cup 3rd round draw tonight as well.

If we have players that play better with 4 at the back right now, then you play 4 at the back until your squad has the know-how and players to play 3 at the back. We don't have wing backs so a back 4 is the pragmatic solution until we do. Likewise Bruno should be played as a 10 and a double pivot forsaken until we have the players who can play it. We have been playing too many players out of position while decrying them as shite only to move them on for cheap; McTominay, Elanga, Wan Bissaka etc.

In fairness, the mood is only matching the situation.

If there is tensions between INEOS and Glazers, then i'm Amorim in, again. Making us play crap so that the Glazers will sell up. Genius.

Definitely a double digit win, 5th place here we come

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,222 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

After 13 months of "progress" people are still unsure if Manchester United can beat what is statistically one of the worst sides ever to play in the PL. (Derby had 6 points after 13 games, Wolves only have 2)

    Make It make sense.

Ya some people really seem to have missed just how shambolic Wolves are. Loosing tonight would be much more embarassing than the Grimsby game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,526 ✭✭✭BenK

I'm not sure how you can say losing to Woves would be 'much more embarrassing' than losing to Grimsby? There are multiple levels between both clubs, that Grimsby defeat will be hard to surpass!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,931 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

I mean while low on quality Grimsby at least functioned as an actual team and had a gameplan.

Wolves this year are like 11 strangers from 11 countries who have never met before, dont share a common language, have never kicked a ball, and are completely pissed.

it may well be b0ll0cks, they have a story about United bidding 150m for Jude Bellingham elsewhere on the site…

EDIT - I've just seen the source Twitter account for that story is Indykalia, so it is indeed b0ll0cks

Anything less than a win tonight, and I fear Amorim’s time could be up.
