Mon 15 Bournemouth Home. Sun 21 Aston Villa Away. Fri 26 Newcastle Home. Tue 30 Wolves Home

    January 2026

Sun 04 Leeds Away. Wed 07 Burnley Away. Sat 17 Man City Home. Sun 25 Arsenal Away

You look at the fixtures after tonight and the end of January it's hard to see us picking up much points. Especially with no Mbeumo and Amad come Villa and we might not see either of them back until the City game.

Both should make it to the round of 16 as 3rd place teams can advance. Those games are scheduled for Jan 3rd to 6th. QFs are the weekend of the FA Cup 3rd round.

January is going to be a grim month looking ahead at those upcoming fixtures. I agree, very hard to see the team picking up many points. Going to be rough.

Well, anything less than a win, I wouldn't fear his departure. I would say it's a Must! 😀

But I fully expect us to win tonight, Wolves are very poor indeed.

INEOS are backing Amorim all the way anyway. So even were we to fail to win this game, my impression is he will remain until the Summer at least. Before they make a firm decision on him.

Some doom and gloom today! Just to put into perspective this league is so tight a win tonight brings up level with Chelsea who are 5th and a point from 4th place Palace. We would have have taken that position after 15 games last July. Yes Everton and West Ham were missed opportunities to push even further up the table and its very frustrating- But what do fans realistically expect from this squad of players?

We all to see more fight, passion, work ethic and quality and so does the manager- But honestly every Man Utd squad the last decade has had this issue under every manager. Van Gaal, Mourinho etc are not bad managers- look at what they've won everywhere else!

This falls on the players, the culture and the desire of the players to bleed for the shirt- or lack therof! There are of course still players there who need to be moved on and we can see this process with the bomb squad and other departures. This squad of players is probably the 7th or 8th best squad in the league. Still a long, long way to go!

The league is tight for sure but after tonight we will be through our easiest run of fixtures for the season and the only game so far we managed to win was the hardest game against palace, we should have been looking for 3 wins at a min. I suppose if we win tonight it's still 8 points from the run.

But the performances haven't been there have dipped since the start of the season, the manger keeps saying we need more intensity then every game we don't get it, we certainly don't start with it.

There is no excuses for it tbh and while I wouldn't say it's all on the manger, he should be making people accountable and if they don't run they don't play the next game. Our pressing structure has been so poor as well anytime we try press high simple passes get teams out and we get run played through far too easily.

I don't think he gets sacked if we lose tonight but again if it's another poor team performance and a bad result the writing would seem to be very much on the wall coming into a tougher run of fixtures

Incredible stat from Amorim's time in charge in PL games. He's been in charge for 41 league games, where we've picked up 49 points in total.

16 of those points, approx one third overall, have come in just 6 games against promoted teams (+9 GD). Against established PL teams in the league (3rd season minimum in the league this season) the record is 33 points from 35 games (-18 GD).

What's interesting is that against the established teams this season we have 16 points (4W + 4D) from 12 games this season, compared to just 17 points from 23 games last season, or pretty much the same number of points as last season in half the games.

So we're definitely picking up more points this season from the better teams, and not as reliant on beating promoted sides to pad out the stats. An obvious positive there.

Statistically speaking, at our current form on the 14 games played this season, we're on course for 60 points, 60 goals scored and 57 against. Good enough for 9th last season.

So yeah, even as sporadic and as inconsistent as our form has been this season, we should be beating Wolves comfortably tonight.

Interesting post Randd1 we have had some top results against good teams (Liverpool, Chelsea, Palace) then let ourselves down against West Ham, Everton, Brentford etc. Its like we give ourselves a great opportunity winning the hard games then can't win games where we are favourites or when we need to break teams down instead of hitting on the counter. But against Wolves tonight we need to make sure we get the win.

After tonight the next few weeks will be more difficult with harder run, African Nations etc. If we can push on and still be 2-3 points away from top 4 in February then we will have a real chance of getting into Europe next season. Ideally would like midfield reinforcements in January but will be difficult to get value in that window.

    Interesting stats.

I think you need to factor in the game load too. Or lack of, in United's case.

Of the established teams you mention, many are playing mid-week European fixtures, which definitely gives us an advantage.

The recent game at Palace was a good example. First half we were crap. Second half, they began visibly tiring, playing their second game in less than 3 days with a small squad. And we were able to take advantage.

The Chelsea game at OT, they were coming off a tough Champions league tie away to Bayern. We were fresh and focused only on PL games.

It gives us an advantage this season against certain sides. But it's hardly a template for success in the long term

Was a time you'd see the doom and gloom after 90 minutes, that seems to have compressed into 20 mins segments now. Oh the joys of this thread

It's probably doom and gloom because the situation is doom and gloom.

Give us some positives Ted the Red?

Reports that Jonny Evans has left his Loan Manager role already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,423 ✭✭✭caviardreams

Wow wonder what happened for Evans to decide that. Could been entirely family related but may also be differences around loan strategies etc

Was his role only as liaison to the younger guys out on loan (say, Collyer or Amass)?

Or was he also working with the likes of Rashford or Sancho, who are also technically on loan?

A game with everything to lose tonight. If United are 1-0 down and Amorim refuses to be more attacking with the system, he'll be crucified. Hope to get over tonight with a convincing win and a good performance.

Alarming starting Heaven after that performance last week, Maz & Dalot too worries me.

Let’s hope we all play well and get a couple of goals before half time.

Home to Brighton in FA Cup. Squad players may look for a loan move in Jan.

Odds on Bruno trying a rabona tonight?

Mazraoui has been good in his last two appearances, he made one error last game but covered up so much behind the young CBS last game

A defender who tackles with his wrong foot constantly is a man who wants to be a horse but really is a donkey.

    Just my 2 cents

Hopefully DeLigt and Sesko and maybe Maguire will be back for Bournemouth

Front three should have enough to win this hopefully, and maybe Cunha is extra fired up

probably would have started Martinez for heaven after thursdays game tbh

Its a good time to give Heaven another shot though, Wolves can't score so he immediately gets a chance to put the poor performance behind him. If not tonight, then when would you actually give him another shot.

Needs to be 2-0/3-0 tonight. If 3 at the back can't keep a clean sheet against this Wolves side then it simply isn't fit for purpose.
