Agree, probably 100kW charging vs 350kW isn't great. More expensive as well if I recall?

At least Waterford has more options for charging

Ionity seem to have given up on a few sites after getting planning permission, I wonder are they getting the boot from the land owner or they decided to focus elsewhere

I think some of the newer Applegreen chargers are 180kW shared by yes more expensive 75c if you tap a credit card and 69c if you use the app. To be fair the AG app is quite user friendly but there's no subscription available so you're stuck with the higher prices

Even electroverse app at ionity is 66c without any subscription

I've been using plug and charge on my ID.4 for a while now at Ionity Athlone and it's always worked without problems. I had to reactivate plug and charge after the recent update, so anyone who has had the update should check it.

How do you get that to work. I didn't see an option when charging my model 3 the other day. I was using electroverse so presume I should have used the ionity app is it?

It's a feature built into the VW app so not sure how it works outside of that.

My guess plug and charge will only work with BMW, Ford, Hyundai/Kia, Mercedes & VW group cars as these were the original JV partners in Ionity.

I hear that VW group cars do it properly, so the cars can accept a third party certificate from the likes of Electroverse. Renault, Kia and Hyundai all require the use of their own charging app only.

To my knowledge Tesla do use the full Plug and Charge protocols for their own Supercharger network, but they haven't been certified for third parties. So they can't use plug and charge on Ionity etc

Received Ionity charge card in post during week. Tried to use it today by tapping it on the screen but no joy. Used the app then with no issue. Am I doing something wrong ?

    Thanks

Did you go through the poxy card activation process?

You need to register it in the app. The letter it came on should have said that but it's easy to just chuck it in the car.

I received mine last week, registered and its been running fine. Have used it multiple times at Athlone, Charlestown, City North & Kill South. Besides Tesla, which I can plug & charge, it was the only service I didnt have an RFID card for - glad I do know as they just work as opposed to apps which can be hit and miss.

Yeah. Did register it. So it should work it I tap it off the screen?

Tap it on the card reader with the NFC logo on it. I don't know which charger you were using, but it's probably somewhere near the screen, but not the actual screen itself.
