Another day another deluge on the way. it's possible that anything up to 100mm of rainfall could fall in some eastern and southern areas between now and Saturday morning. It's the UK Met office that's predicting huge rainfall totals for parts of Leinster on Friday but currently i'm not seeing these extreme rainfall totals in the models.

Continuous rain last few days here in Carrigaline Co. Cork.

And now a Continuous torrential downpour has set in. For last half hour at least .. so far. Before that its been raining since early morning even though Met site said a dry enough day here earlier - less than 5% precipitation if at all BUT it was raining solid. Apparently - again - tomorrow will be dry enough here before whats meant to be coming Friday.

Yesterday Carrigaline had alot of flooding inc in the centre .. I will say thats NOT unusual for here with the Owenabue River breaking banks etc. Seen it worse with water pouring down hill from behind the photographer

Got suiited and booted at 4pm so half my walk was dry and half my walk was the start of this horrible front(if I have the correct description of so). Was delighted to be organised for the impending forecast and got to stretch the legs.

It's even worse now and have dropped off the teenager for an U16 camogie match emmmmmm.

    9⁰. Belting rain. Meath.

Check this out - Tipperary - this was in Cork earluier as I mentioned above:

"our roads and drains are not built for this"

Would we agree with that statement?

hammering rain here in Dunshaughlin, Steams of water flowing down the road both sides of the street, garden waterlogged, mud and water everywhere, this is the worst it's been in several years and there could be alot more to come by the time we reach the weekend. We have never needed a prolonged dry spell more than now. The road between my house and Dunshaughlin is likely to be flooded once again in several places by the morning. Drains are all blocked with mud and leaves. The Atlantic needs to die and be put out of it's misery. Can't wait to see the back of Autumn 2025.

@Gonzo "Can't wait to see the back of Autumn 2025."

be careful what you wish for. It seems come next week the temps are going to drop biggly .. I wonder will this be replaced by icey roads and the white stuff?

Some serious rain out there in the midlands tonight. We had 33mm yesterday. Another 20mm today and it's raining heavily, over 22mm p/hr now. Hopefully going to ease up soon, but you're going to see flooding reports if this keeps up.

Give me a drop in temperatures with dryer and brighter any day over the rubbish we have had for most of this autumn.

We've had plenty of absolutely miserable months over the past 2-3 years, 2023 was the wettest year on record if I'm not mistaken and last year had plenty of wet weather as well, it unfortunately seems to be the norm now any time the weather becomes "unsettled".

But yeah, awful in Dublin as well, dark since 3pm. Roll on next Spring

Colder and drier weather next week is exactly what the country needs. However ice could be a major problem if winds slacken and the temp at night drops sub zero.

The SE has been very wet this November for sure. I just checked Johnstown Castle there and the LTA for November rainfall at that station is 115mm. As of 7pm it was already at 97.3mm and based on current model output we're likely to have around 10mm more this evening and then Friday and Saturday anything between 30mm and 80mm depending on which model you look at. But even taking the mid-range of that and saying 55mm that means that even if the rest of November remained bone dry we're looking at 40% above average monthly rainfall and we're only mid-way through the month. Miserable isn't the word, it's soul destroying.

We have a small stream on a much lower elevation about 30m away from the house. It looked something like the river Shannon yesterday evening, absolutely crazy. Downstream the water depth is monitored and it is almost set a new flood record last night:

Easing here in N Offaly but 37.8mm so far today. Yesterday had 33mm so nearly three inches of rain total in old money in 48 hrs. Amateur station, but it won't be far off. Place is full of standing water. Dogs will not go out. That's rare.

biblical rain here now at Dunshaughlin, it's like one of those spanish rain storms, I've had to turn the volume up on the tv to drown out the sound of the rain bashing off the roof.

A leak has started in my living room with basin's collecting the water.

It really is unbelievable at this stage the amount of rain we have had.

Don't think it was predicted to be that wet today. Everywhere is waterlogged, not looking good for heading into winter.

A squall line going through Navan. Some rate of rain I say. Its loud.

Not keen on Siobhan Ryan saying South Dublin & Wicklow being a bullseye for extreme rainfall on Friday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 922 ✭✭✭Robwindstorm

Unbelievable rain. Wettest spell I've experienced in a long time. Being in North meath I'm hoping to avoid the worst of Friday's rain but I doubt it. Any time there's an east wind off the Irish sea in a set up like this it's bad news. Also the strength of the east wind on Friday will make this day one to remember for all the wrong reasons . I cannot understand how this system is not a named Storm??

and to think todays rain is only the starter portion, the main course is on Friday. Thankfully my leak has stopped, the biblical rain earlier was probably one of the most intense rainfalls I've ever witnessed in Ireland.

I've got standing water all over the place, some of it has seeped into the garage. I need wellies to walk out of the driveway it's all flooded.
