100% Marrooned. Must be very frustrating for guys on the fringes of the panel who feel they are worthy of a shot and have to watch likes of Deegan and R Reid consistently make the same mistakes. Reid is a sweeper nothing else which we can’t afford to play against most teams, even at that last year in the semi final when we went a man up he should of relished as the spare man at the back and instead totally flunked it giving ball after ball away, and I’d also put the blame on him for passing that ball to Deegan for the goal.

That’s the biggest reason lyng needed to move on this year fresh slate for everyone anyone that felt they were messed around before or on the fence before going in would have maybe given it a go if there was new management Ticket not just 2 new coaches

I know zach is playing with fort rangers. Does that mean he definitely gone off kilkenny panel?

Hard to see how Tommy Walsh and shine be back in March /April. Cruciate is long term. Ryan Taylor did his against us in 2023 semi final and wasn't back till the following year semi final

Yeah i agree the dreaded cruciate is probably 8 months before back playing but 11 months before your back to proper championship pace and back to your best physically.

It was a bit of an anti climax in fairness on Sunday after 2 brilliant finals at junior and intermediate. I honestly thought all year OLG would get it done but you have to hand it to Ballyhale, they fully deserved it. I think given the deteriorating conditions, they might have a right crack at the club AI now. Paddy Mullen did some job on Sunday, he rattled nearly every OLG defender and played on the edge all day.

I don't know if the Village are good enough to come back up either. I think if Gowran were set up right from the start they would have pushed them very hard in the semi. Gowran will improve more in the next year give their young players coming through and the experience the last few years have given them.

Kilkenny as already stated need to rebuild and the 2 lads going travelling will force Derek's hand. Again if new management were in maybe we would have a few more returning also. People saying Corcoran too slow but I think he's the best option for 6 at the minute. The bigger question is who's going to fill the number 3 jersey??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 hurleronthefence

I agree with Corcoran being the best option for 6 currently, I think Mikey Carey could be best to fill in at 3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,461 ✭✭✭Marrooned

I’d agree trying Carey full back, but I would also be trying Moylan there at some stage just to cover ourselves. There are lots of options out there, the trouble is all theses players need time some might gel straight away while others will take time. I heard there were trials for minor and U20 while the minor is a good thing ,surely it gets in the way of the U20 championship?

I know you would be robbing Peter to pay Paul but would d blanchfield work at fullback he has all the attributes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,461 ✭✭✭Marrooned

everything and anything should be tried and tested at this stage.

Long reach good in the air recovery pace physicality well able to hurl away from the edge of the square

Or is does he have to much hurling to be put back there apart from Moylan I don’t know who else would be tried there m Carey didn’t look the most comfortable when he started at fullback vs danesfort in there semi final loss

On another subject I see Tipp have introduced new sponsorship and not afraid to move on where our sponsors are guaranteed there position just like some of our players no healthy competition.

To be fair the sponsor on the new jersey is part of fiserv so not really a new sponsor.

Tipperary GAA is delighted to announce the launch of the new 2026 season jersey in partnership with our loyal sponsors, Fiserv, Inc., a global leader in payments and financial technology.

The new jersey proudly features Clover, the company’s point-of-sale platform, as front-of-jersey sponsor.

Don't let the truth get in the way of some posters chance to post negativity

The important point is we don't get enough money from our sponsors and the cb still act like glanbia are doing us a big favour sponsoring us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 Special Junior

A minor point in the greater scheme of things but just to point out Glanbia and Tirlan are two completely separate businesses for the last number of years since Glanbia sold it off.

Tirlan sponsor the Kilkenny hurling team.

Glanbia sponsor the Kilkenny camogie team.

Glanbia are not Irish focused anymore so unlikely to get anything from them, I imagine the only reason they sponsored the camogie is because Brian Phelan is high up there but he is retiring.

To be fair any poster criticizing the cb for sticking with Glanbia/Tirlan when there are numerous other options available to them are dead right. The fact that KK don't have at least one proper 5g or 4g pitch in the county is crazy. There should be at least 3…..1 in city, 1 up north and 1 down south. Yes it costs money which they don't have but when you're turning down multiples (1 sponsor is rumored to have offered 5 times what current sponsors offer…..let that sink in) of what's already on the table I think it's fair enough to have a pop at them. They have a seriously marketable product which has been left go stale over the last 20 years when they should have been creaming it off sponsors. Some small clubs are better run than one of the top 4 counties in the country. Rant over:(

I see Tommy Shefflin is officially finished with the Camogie set up. He has given a fair amount to them over the past few years including being with Brian Dowling. It will be interesting to see how Jimmy Meagher gets on. Will he give them the 3 or 4 years that they need to rebuild?

Again like above the Camogie Board need to get their act together and drive it on a bit. Interesting time ahead.

    Re camogie board.

They wont 'drive it on' ....

The whole DJ and family story is unbelievable and will be a wake call for all young sports people that you dont make money out of the GAA without having a job and working hard. DJ had it all and should have went working for someone rather than the road he went down. Very sad and he lost the plot with the cancer shite. It will cast a shadow over hurling in Kilkenny for a long time and I hope Mikey and Sean will come through it all in the coming months.

    Absolutley....

Co. Board do very little to promote the game, and as little to support it.

I think the senior camogie team and county board are a few years ahead of where our senior hurling team and county board could be in a few years if the finger isn’t pulled out and the right development and people aren’t put in place in various roles

The senior camogie team amd Co board all seem very stale like our senior hurling equivalent
