I worked for one of those US companies and a lot of people, including my boss, basically just emailed excel sheets around with sales numbers on it. Earning 100k for just calling out numbers from a pre populated sheet in a couple of meetings a week. Particularly Friday for end of week to report back to the US. And the odd "one to one", they barely knew how to restart a computer.

I don't think thats unique to US companies.

But most of the AI I've used does it worse than even those luddites.

In my company, a lot of customers churn because we are pushing AI so hard. Then with less customers, our volumes are lower so the company say it’s due to AI improvements and cut some staff and it helps them push AI more.

It’s a strange cycle and who knows where it goes really

With less customers it's vulnerable to a losing a few key ones. Very quickly becomes a crisis. Place I worked did that shrunk it's customers to a few very large ones and then they lost a couple they nearly went under. They survived and diversified and widened their customer base.
