Would be handy for students if they could vote anywhere. Not that many of them are particularly bothered I'd imagine, but at least they wouldn't be disenfranchised by not being at home.

    The thread votes to UNBORK

That must be Nigel with the brie...

Why are pilots able to turn off their transponders willy nilly? Malaysia flight, 9-11 they all did it and made themselves practically invisible.

Does this not seem like a massive design flaw? That a pilot or highjacker can do this so easily?

It should be securely locked up where nobody can get at it except the airline officials who hold the keys.

You don't happen to be in Blarney in Cork by any chance? They sent out polling cards with the wrong address on them.

Stupid chatbots "replacing" a paid human being and being useless. Holland & Barrett, I'm looking at you.

"Hi, I'm ChatbotWhatever, can I help?"

    "Agent."

"Right, agent, but can I help?"

    "No. Agent."

"Right, agent, but can I help?"

"Your 1800 customer service number for Ireland is borked."

"Soooo sorry. Try with this +353 1 xxxxxxx"

    "That's also borked."

"Soooo sorry. Anything else I can help you with?"

    Sigh. "I need x, y, and z."

"Right. Let me put you in contact with and agent. But first, can I have a lot of personal data, plus the last time you lost an eyelash from your left eye, the last time you shaved someone's ear and the time of your last bowel movement?"

    "No."

"I don't understand, something must've gone wrong. Let me put you in contact with and agent. But first, can I have a lot of personal data, plus the last time you lost an eyelash from your left eye, the last time you shaved someone's ear and the time of your last bowel movement?"

Sigh. Type lots of data, while grumbling.

"An agent will be with you shortly. If you prefer to wait, click on "Wait for Agent", otherwise someone will reply in 48 to 120 hours (working days only)"

    "Wait for Agent."

30+ minutes later, only tumbleeds. I hadn't realised I'd have to stay in front of the open chat 2-5 working days to get a reply. I emailed them. I won't be holding my breath.

    Another massive TA.

To the left of the main gate of the house there's a dead-end street, maybe 35 metres long. Further down, opposite the gate, there's a loooong boreen, with fields and hedges on both sides and no houses. About 500 metres away in the opposite direction there's a church (with toilets) and a coffee shop that's open until late enough. Yet, there's a cohort of knuckledragging, mouthbreathing morons that either drive up and park there or stop during their walk just to piss against our fence and shrubberies. My neighbours have security cameras and their windows face that way, so these sad missing link specimens and their number plates are in full view. Yesterday my neighbour phoned me to tell me of the latest case, and suggested I put up a sign so I did. "THIS PLACE IS NOT A URINAL, SHOW SOME MANNERS!". If that won't work (and I don't think it will), a stretch of electrified fencing should do the trick.

I was just going to recommend an electric fence . That would put manners on them :)

Is he (too) new, (too) young, (too) eager?

My wife is a nurse, and she has to train up "adaptees" and because they need to be "approved" to work in Ireland, they are totally up her derriere. She says its a nightmare. Yours might be like that.

A sensor triggered fan to create a blowback effect would put a stop to such anti social conduct if only it could be macgyvered up...

Including them peeing! Now, that's a genius idea.

I should have done the same with the train driver who stopped the train at the end of our field just so he could pee out of his door, a few weeks ago. And then we wonder why public transport is seldom punctual…

A recent annoying change means when you listen to RTE Radio 1 online there's an ad break before you get to here any of the broadcast. Switch on yesterday, endure the stupid unscheduled ad break, and when it's over and Claire Byrne finally arrives it's only to say "We'll go to an ad break."

    No Dublin North .

But it would have been helpful if maybe they had put change of address stamped in red for all the old fogies who ended up going to the old one .

    Expecting too much 😜

I think all types of music has leaders and innovators and from technical death metal to trad music you could put those leaders on the same stage and real music people will appreciate their genius, the problem is those innovators spawn multiple copy cat acts that are shite

You put on your work wellies to keep your feet cosy and dry... but then somehow, a splash of freezing cold water manages to sneak in from the top. Cold, wet, squelchy feet. GRRRRRR! 🤬
